CMAT ‘did not sleep' and felt ill before Glastonbury set on the main stage

The musician, real name Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, 29, played songs from her back catalogue, as well as singles from her forthcoming third studio album Euro-Country, when she took to the Pyramid Stage in June.
She told BBC Radio 6 Music: 'It's worth noting that the two days beforehand, I was acting like someone who was about to go into war.
'I was shaking with the fear. I couldn't talk to anyone, I didn't sleep, like I was ill.
'I was so, so scared. I was so scared for the Pyramid Stage.
'I kind of just kept throwing my head in my hands, and like screaming and being like, 'Why did they let me do this?'
'And then by the time I walked on stage, the feeling, the first thought that occurred to me was, 'Oh my God, I'm so relieved that this is about to be over, because I don't have to be scared of it anymore'.
'And then, actually, weirdly, because I had had that thought, I was like, 'Oh, I can just enjoy myself, because it's about to be over and not in front of me anymore'.
She added: 'Because of that, I actually did enjoy myself, and we were really well rehearsed. And it just felt amazing. It was amazing.
'It was a weird thing walking out, though, because someone was like, 'Oh, you should get about 20,000 people at that time'… and I walked out, and I've seen 20,000 people before, and I was like, I don't know, I don't know what this is. I've never seen this wall (of people). They just kept going.'
CMAT said that she had 10 minutes to herself after the performance before she filmed an episode of CBeebies Bedtime Stories.

She said: 'When I stepped off the stage, I was a bit shocked, and I was a bit winded, because the weight of everything came down on me as I was stepping down, and I literally curled up in a ball behind the sofa in my dressing room and made my sister close the door and was like, 'No one can look at me for five to 10 minutes.'
'And I just literally curled up in a ball and I didn't talk to anyone for like 10 minutes.'
Towards the end of her set on the Pyramid Stage, CMAT waded into the crowd to sing her popular song Stay For Something and chanted 'Free Palestine' in reference to sustained Israeli strikes in Gaza.
She later performed a secret set at the BBC Introducing stage.
CMAT released her debut album, If My Wife New I'd Be Dead, in 2022, and followed it up with Mercury Prize-nominated Crazymad, For Me in 2023.
In July, the BBC denied editing out Irish language that features as part of the pop singer's new single, Euro-Country, when it was played on BBC Radio 1 for the first time.
Her third studio album is set for release on August 29.

Clara Amfo reveals depression battle led to her quitting BBC Radio 1 as she became 'burnt out and in a negative headspace' after eight years on air

Clara Amfo has revealed that depression led to her quitting her BBC Radio 1 show after eight years on air. The presenter, 41, revealed that she struggled with her mental health after becoming 'burnt out' due to the toll of her career. Clara, who spent a decade as a DJ and regularly fronts shows including the BBC's Glastonbury coverage, admitted she was in a 'negative headspace' at the time and needed a 'little reset'. Speaking to Fearne Cotton on the Happy Place podcast, she said: 'I was burnt out, I wasn't taking care of myself properly and I think I was a bit overwhelmed by life's injustices. 'I just wasn't feeling great and I was in a bit of a negative headspace. 'The start of 2023, I was in the flipping trenches. I was feeling really, really depressed sort of mid-2023 and I took some time off radio, and just had to have a little reset. That is when I decided I was going to leave my show.' Clara, first joined Radio 1 as a DJ and later hosted the Live Lounge, The Official Chart on Radio 1, and her 1Xtra programme. Clara also addressed the pressures of working in high-profile broadcasting as she said she never wanted to 'resent' the job. She added: 'I had mixed reactions. Obviously our bosses, who are lovely, were like 'But why?' 'I'm one of these people where I am so passionate about what I do that I never want to resent anything, I don't want anything to feel like it's forced or a chore. 'And I want to be able to listen to music always as a fan, rather than as a business, and I want to be able to talk to people on a human level without thinking, 'Got to get that viral interview clip'.' Clara left Radio 1 in 2023, marking the end of a decade-long chapter that included championing new artists through her 'hottest record' feature. At the time, she said: 'I'm so proud of the work I've been able to do on every show, whether it's been from the 8th floor, a city in the UK or a pop star's house across the pond. I'm grateful to have had the ears of the listeners who have consistently shown up for me. 'I'm enamoured by everyone I've had the privilege of working alongside for each and every broadcast. 'I'm energised and excited for my next chapter as part of the network and beyond.' It comes after Clara revealed that she 'debated having liposuction ' after 'getting in her own head' about her body image. The presenter candidly discussed her relationship with her body image as she covered the December edition of UK Women's Health last year. In the accompanying interview, Clara reflected on how she thought her career 'would be different' if she looked a certain way. The broadcaster explained how she 'tries to stop herself' from constantly thinking about her body in an industry that is 'obsessed' with people's appearances. She said: 'If I had done all these things but I existed in a different body, maybe had a looser hair pattern, or if I was a few shades lighter, I wonder if my career would be different, and I wonder if I would get treated better.' 'I'll be so real with you, I was debating having lipo. I won't lie, towards the end of last year – because I got in my head, I had the consultation and everything.' Explained what stopped her, she added: 'I obsessively research things, and I was just looking at all the times when it had gone wrong for people. I think I scared myself out of it, to be honest.' In the UK, private liposuction surgery can cost between £2,000 and £6, op, which tends to last a few hours, involves removing unwanted body fat by inserting a tube under the skin and sucking out small areas of fat. After bruising and swelling from the operation has healed, the areas treated visibly shrink. Recovery can take weeks. Graduating with a media arts degree in 2006, Clara joined Kiss FM as a marketing intern in 2007, progressed to stand-in presenter. She then secured a role as drivetime host, leading to BBC Radio 1 Extra in 2013 and her daytime Radio 1 show in 2015.

SPOTTING the food is easy, but can you outsmart everyone and find the two odd barbecue items in this optical illusion? Time to put your vision skills and brainpower to the test and solve this tricky brainteaser in just 10 seconds or less. 8 This image is known as an optical illusion, meaning there could be other less obvious elements to be found. Back in June, Gary appeared to put his feud with brother Wayne to one side as they partied at a family wedding in Ibiza - and now they have taken yet another step towards putting their rift to bed. Tia shared the first glimpse of her lavish Mallorca wedding on Instagram on Wednesday - with her uncle clearly in attendance. She tied the knot with husband Harry Agombar, and her uncle Gary was sitting among the guests despite the 17-year feud between the Lineker brothers. Her father Wayne walked her down the alter and linked onto her arm as he did so. Tia looked stunning in a white dress, complete with a veil and huge bouquet of flowers. Her father walked beside her in a dapper black suit. BROTHERS REUNITE Gary was seen sitting among the guests, signalling a truce between the brothers. This was their second reunion in recent weeks. Back in June the former Match of the Day host's son Harry got married. Harry, 31, tied the knot with partner Bella in a luxurious ceremony on the Spanish island of Ibiza. Gary Lineker reveals Match of the Day blunder he made in last-ever appearance for first time in 26 years Spirits were high as all the family celebrated together beneath the sunshine. GARY AND WAYNE'S FEUD The two brothers are believed to have fallen out while Gary was with his second wife Danielle Bux. They travelled to Ibiza to visit Wayne but the trip broke their close relationship, which saw an end to their weekly phone calls. He told The Sun in 2015: "In my opinion, Danielle cost me my relationship with my brother. "Sadly Gary is no longer a part of my life. "They came to Ibiza in August 2008 and it was really awkward. "I didn't spark with Danielle and our relationship was cold." Wayne was Gary's best man at his first wedding to Michelle Cockayne in 1986. But the club owner did not attend as the ex-BBC host tied to knot with Danielle because his invite did not extend to his girlfriend at the time Ana Tanaka. Opening up on the brother's relationship in a recent interview with The Mail, Wayne said: "It's not so good to be honest, we don't really speak very often. "I'll always be his number one fan."
