Latvia orders Patria armoured vehicles for Ukraine
Latvia has ordered Patria 6x6 armoured personnel carriers to be delivered to Ukraine later this year.

Details: The ministry announced that it has ordered Patria 6x6 armoured personnel carriers for Ukraine, though the exact number of vehicles has not been disclosed.
Quote from Latvia's Defence Minister Andris Sprūds: "These armoured vehicles, manufactured in Latvia, will be delivered to Ukraine's defenders this year. This not only supports Ukraine in its fight against the occupiers but also allows us to test the performance and durability of the vehicles in real combat conditions, providing valuable insights for our own armed forces."
The order for Ukraine will not affect the fulfilment of existing contracts for the Latvian military.
Background:
Earlier, the Finnish company Patria received an order from Latvia to supply 56 armoured command-and-control vehicles.
In early 2025, Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs expressed his expectation that Latvia's defence spending would reach 4% of GDP.

Dockworkers in southern France block military shipment to Israel
Workers at a port in southern France are blocking a shipment of 14 tons of military equipment to Israel, their union said on Thursday. The workers refuse to participate in "the ongoing genocide being perpetrated by the Israeli government," the General Confederation of Labour (CGT) union said. The cargo, destined for the Israeli port of Haifa, is said to consist of machine gun parts manufactured by a company in the southern city of Marseille, which the CGT says are being used by the Israeli military against the Palestinian population. The union said the container has been located and set aside at the port of Fos-sur-Mer near Marseille. The French Defence Ministry said Israel was contractually obliged to re-export the military equipment and is not allowed to use the components itself, according to the broadcaster France Info. Kremlin: Trump should condemn Kiev's attacks on Russian bombers
The Kremlin is hoping that US President Donald Trump will condemn Ukrainian attacks on Russia's strategic bomber fleet. "If we are talking about an international assessment overall, then of course we would prefer to hear at least a sharp condemnation of this act of terror," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a news conference on Thursday. He was responding to a question about whether Trump's assurances during a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin that he was not aware of the attacks were sufficient. Ukraine carried out a coordinated operation last weekend targeting several Russian military airfields far from the border using drones. These airfields housed medium- and long-range bombers, which Russia has used to attack Ukraine with missiles and cruise missiles since the start of the war. Ukraine has reported around 40 aircraft destroyed or damaged, while the Russian Defence Ministry has said only "a few" planes were affected.
