Hudson motorcyclist dead after collision with SUV in Litchfield

A 41-year-old motorcyclist died Tuesday night after striking the rear of an SUV that was backing onto a highway in Litchfield, police said.
Jean Lopes of Hudson was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near 519 Charles Bancroft Highway, according to the Litchfield Police Department.
Police said the collision occurred when a Toyota RAV4 was reversing onto the highway and was struck from behind by Lopes's Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Lopes was found unresponsive in the roadway.
"Witness accounts suggest the RAV4 was in the process of reversing onto Charles Bancroft Highway when it was struck from behind by the motorcycle," police said.
The Litchfield Police Department is investigating the crash with assistance from the Hudson Police Department's Crash Investigation and Reconstruction Team. The New Hampshire Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an examination.

State police said a 16-year-old is facing two counts of manslaughter in connection with the crash. Authorities said the multi-vehicle crash happened on State Highway 109 at the Morrison Bluff Bridge at around 11:15 p.m. on May 30. According to ASP officials, a Chevrolet Camaro, driven by the 16-year-old, was traveling southbound on Highway 109 at over 150 miles per hour when it rear-ended a Toyota RAV4, driven by 20-year-old Mackenzie Arthur. The collision, officials said, forced the RAV4 into the northbound lane where it collided head-on with an oncoming 18-wheeler. Officials said Arthur and her 17-year-old sister, Maddie Arthur, were killed in the crash. An Ormond Beach motorcyclist was killed this morning when he slammed into a sedan that pulled in front of him on State Road 415, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The 60-year-old Ormond Beach man was heading south on State Road 415 on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when a Ford Fusion pulled out in front of him at Fort Smith Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The motorcycle hit the left side of the Ford, which was driven by a 48-year-old Deltona man. First responders took the 60-year-old to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital, but authorities pronounced him dead at the hospital. The driver of the Fusion had serious injuries, and first responders took him to the same hospital. The crash happened about 7:16 a.m., and the Florida Highway Patrol is investigating. Authorities have cleared the roadblock at the intersection. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.
