King Mohammed VI launches strategic disaster response platform in Rabat-Salé-Kénitra

Ya Biladi08-05-2025

DR
King Mohammed VI, accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, inaugurated the construction of the essential goods reserve platform for the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region on Wednesday, in the commune of Ameur (Salé prefecture). This project embodies the Moroccan vision of resilience and rapid mobilization in the event of disasters. It aligns with the royal directives aimed at equipping each region of the Kingdom with a storage platform for essential goods—tents, blankets, beds, medicines, foodstuffs—to ensure an immediate response to crises such as floods, earthquakes, or industrial accidents.
The Rabat-Salé-Kénitra platform will be built on a 20-hectare site, with a completion timeline of 12 months and a budget of 287.5 million dirhams. It will notably include four warehouses of 5,000 m² each, two shelters for oversized equipment of 2,500 m², a helipad, and several parking areas.
This project is part of a comprehensive national program, presented to the Sovereign on this occasion, which plans for the creation of twelve similar platforms with a total investment of 7 billion dirhams: 2 billion for infrastructure and 5 billion for the acquisition of equipment and relief products. These platforms will collectively cover an area of 240 hectares and will house 36 warehouses, with their size adjusted to the population density and risk profile of each region.
For the six most populous regions—Casablanca-Settat, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, Marrakech-Safi, Fès-Meknès, Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, and Souss-Massa—the platforms will include four warehouses totaling 20,000 m² each. The other six regions—the Oriental, Béni Mellal-Khénifra, Drâa-Tafilalet, Guelmim-Oued Noun, Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, and Dakhla-Oued Ed Dahab—will have two warehouses totaling 10,000 m². The planned stocks are intended to enable a rapid response in case of disaster, meeting the rescue, aid, and victim care needs, in line with the proactive royal vision.
The planned equipment covers several areas: emergency housing with 200,000 versatile tents, camp beds, mattresses, and blankets; feeding the victims through mobile kitchens and bakeries, and food kits; supplying drinking water and electricity thanks to purification systems and mobile generators; developing intervention capacities to combat floods, earthquakes, landslides, mudslides, or chemical and radiological risks. The medical component plans for the reserve of six field hospitals with 50 beds in a first phase, and six more in a second, with operating modules and specialized services. Advanced medical posts will be installed on the disaster sites, complementing reserves of medicines adapted to immediate needs.
These platforms will strengthen national emergency infrastructures, streamline the delivery of aid, and improve the Kingdom's ability to face crises. They will also allow for the creation of sufficient reserves to meet three times the needs generated by the Al Haouz earthquake. The program will further contribute to structuring a national ecosystem for the production of relief equipment. The sites have been chosen based on security criteria, following a detailed analysis of regional needs and risks, relying on the best practices and international standards.

Morocco's Royal Air Maroc nears major aircraft deal with Boeing and Airbus

Morocco's national carrier, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), is in the final stages of placing its biggest aircraft order to date, as it looks to expand its fleet to support the country's growing aviation ambitions. According to sources cited by Bloomberg on Wednesday, RAM is considering purchasing around two dozen Boeing 787 Dreamliners for long-haul routes and as many as 50 Boeing 737s for short-haul operations. It is also in talks to acquire about 20 Airbus A220s for regional travel. The size and timing of the order remain flexible, but the Airbus deal could be announced as early as next week during the Paris Air Show. The Boeing order, on the other hand, may be delayed until a future meeting between King Mohammed VI and U.S. President Donald Trump. A RAM spokesperson confirmed to Bloomberg that the airline would announce the results of its tender to acquire 188 aircraft within days, without providing further details. If finalized, this would mark the airline's largest order in its 60-year history. RAM currently operates a fleet of 50 aircraft, including Boeing 737-800s, 787 Dreamliners, and Embraer 190s. The airline seeks to grow both its passenger and cargo operations ahead of Morocco's co-hosting of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, aiming to attract 26 million tourists by that year.

Amid Justice Ministry's Denial of Cyberattack, ‘Jabaroot' Claims Hack of Morocco's Road Safety Agency

Rabat — The Ministry of Justice issued a statement today regarding alleged leaks of electronic data, noting that the allegations do not in any way pertain to the ministry's information systems or database. The Ministry of Justice responded to the reports circulated on social networks and media platforms regarding the leaks, noting that the circulated information 'does not in any way pertain to the Ministry of Justice's information systems, nor is it related to its databases or secure digital services.' The ministry said that its information systems, including digital platforms for judicial and administrative services, are operating normally and securely. 'They have not been subjected to any breaches or data leaks,' the ministry said, noting that it implements multi-layered protection protocols. It also urged citizens to obtain information related to its operations from official and authorized sources, and to avoid 'giving credence to rumors or inaccurate news that could cause unnecessary confusion and concern.' The ministry also reiterates its commitment to ensuring the security and integrity of data and information related to the justice system and digital services, confirming its 'continued efforts to strengthen cybersecurity measures and vigilance to confront all potential risks in this field.' Algerian hacker group 'Jabaroot' claimed responsibility for the new alleged cyberattack against the Moroccan ministry. This is a continuation of Jabaroot's hacking claims. Recent social media reports suggest that the group published a leaked dossier from Morocco's road safety agency, NARSA. It remains to be seen whether the claim is authentic or another allegation that will be eventually denied by the agency in the coming hours. In the past few months, the group made similar announcements, claiming responsibility over cyberattacks targeting several other Moroccan databases, including the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) and the National Agency for Land Registry (ANCFCC). Sources from the land registry agency denied that its system was directly targeted, clarifying that the breach involved a notaries' platform, Tawtik, which is managed independently. An authorized source from ANFCC said recently that no intrusion or data leak has been detected in its information system. Converging reports suggested that the Algerian hacking group may have access to data on the notaries' platform by 'exploiting vulnerabilities in inadequately protected computers.' LinkAI Brings Global Ad Intelligence to Morocco

Rabat – On June 19, Integrate, Kantar's exclusive affiliate in Morocco, will host a breakfast event in Casablanca to unveil LinkAI, a new tool that aims to reshape how brands approach advertising. Far from just another tech launch, the gathering invites marketers, creatives, and media professionals to reflect on the growing concern that most ads today go unnoticed. With a reported 85% of advertisements failing to capture enough attention, LinkAI offers a fresh path forward. It predicts how audiences might respond to an ad, not after it airs, but well before. The technology scans every frame of a video, detects drops in focus, emotional disconnects, and even signs of viewer fatigue. It also reads deeper cues like narrative tension and micro facial expressions to gauge potential impact. Unlike traditional testing, LinkAI supports finalized videos and early-stage animatics. This gives creative teams a chance to course-correct long before production wraps. Rooted in neuroscience and AI, the tool helps brands reduce the guesswork and build campaigns with stronger emotional and commercial traction. Already deployed in over 70 countries and backed by data from more than 230,000 ads, LinkAI lets marketers place their content in a global context. It can assess how well an ad might perform based on format, culture, and sector. Attendees will see the tool in action through live tests on both Moroccan and international ads.
