Ex-Kaizer Chiefs star enters rehab to address substance abuse
Former Kaizer Chiefs player Kgaogelo Sekgota, who had the football world at his feet at the beginning of the decade, has entered rehab in a bid to deal with substance abuse.
This is thought to have scuppered a potential move to Morocco, where a club was keeping tabs on the 28-year-old, who currently plays for Motsepe Foundation Championship side Upington City FC.
After impressing in the colours of Polokwane United in his youth, Sekgota found himself in Lithuania, playing for FC Stumbras. He then transferred to Portuguese Primeira Liga club Vitória, but lasted one season.
He returned to South Africa in 2020, and after playing for Bidvest Wits and Moroka Swallows, he moved to Kaizer Chiefs in 2021, then to Stellenbosch FC, Magesi FC, and finally Upington. During that time, he struggled with his discipline.

'Same mistakes as last season': Khanye slams Kaizer Chiefs
Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye feel the team has not improved following their pre-season matches. Having played five matches in the Netherlands, Amakhosi locked horns with Asante Kotoko at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday. Despite a good performance, the Soweto giants went down 3-2 on penalties. When analysing the match, Khanye felt Kaizer Chiefs were still making the same mistakes from last season.
