A significant piece of motorsport history, the 1954 Jaguar D-Type 'OKV 2,' is set to cross the auction block at The Amelia Auction in March 2025. With an estimated value between $6.5 million and $8.5 million, this factory Works competition car represents one of the most storied Jaguar race cars ever built.
As the lead car in Jaguar's 1954 24 Hours of Le Mans entry, 'OKV 2' was driven by Stirling Moss and Peter Walker, setting the fastest lap of the race before mechanical issues forced its retirement. Despite its early exit, the D-Type would go on to compete in top-tier European races from 1954 to 1958, with legendary drivers including Mike Hawthorn, Tony Rolt, Ivor Bueb, and Norman Dewis behind the wheel.
The D-Type's revolutionary design, developed by Malcolm Sayer and Bill Heynes, featured aircraft-inspired aerodynamics, a monocoque chassis, and an advanced braking system. Its engineering advancements helped secure Jaguar's dominance at Le Mans throughout the 1950s. 'OKV 2' played a key role in developing this success, continuing its competition career with privateer teams such as Ecurie Broadhead, where it earned podium finishes at circuits like Silverstone, Goodwood, and Aintree.
After spending time in North America, the car underwent a meticulous restoration by Lynx Engineering in the late 1970s and has since been campaigned in historic racing events, including the Goodwood Revival and Le Mans Classic. With extensive documentation, period race records, and ownership by renowned Jaguar expert Terry Larson, 'OKV 2' stands as one of the most important D-Types to remain in private hands.
As it heads to auction without reserve, this Jaguar D-Type offers collectors a rare opportunity to acquire a true icon of endurance racing.

McLaren Unveils 750S Le Mans Edition to Mark 30 Years Since 1995 Victory with MSO Upgrades
On June 18, 1995, the #59 McLaren F1 GTR of JJ Letho, Yannick Dalmas, and Masanori Sekiya claimed victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on the automaker's debut as a constructor. An additional three McLaren F1 GTRs joined them in the top five placings. Three decades have passed since the landmark achievement, and McLaren is celebrating it with a 750S coupe fitted with an MSO High Downforce Kit (HDK) and other track-focused enhancements. Only 50 will be built, so its collector's status is guaranteed. The aerodynamic enhancements of the HDK add a sense of drama to the exterior and include a bigger carbon front splitter, a raised carbon-fiber Active Rear Spoiler with integral end plates, and a body-color carbon-fiber under-wing panel with louvers in gloss black. These items are claimed to increase downforce by 10%. The 50 special cars will also have unique five-spoke LM wheels, Le Mans branding, and a roof scoop and louvered front fenders made from carbon fiber. Only two exterior paint colors will be offered: McLaren Orange and Le Mans Grey. The two interior color schemes are Carbon Black and Dove Grey Alcantara with Jet Black leather, contrasted with either Dove Grey or McLaren Orange Alcantara. A commemorative plaque and Le Mans-branded headrests and floormats are standard too. Each owner will have access to a list of expensive options to make their 1-of-50 car truly unique. These include various parts available in Gloss Visual Carbon Fiber: Parts like mirror caps, hood vents, side intakes, and spoiler end platesAn underbody pack, including rear spoiler, rear diffuser, and front splitterA louver package, including those on the fenders and under the rear wing Under the skin, this is still a 750S, so you get the twin-turbocharged M840T V8 engine with 740 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. This combination is good for a 0-62 mph sprint in 2.8 seconds. McLaren doesn't say by how much the HDK affects the regular 750S's 206-mph top speed. McLaren will be returning to the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2027. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Former Endurance Racing boss Gerard Neveu takes Retromobile to New York
Gerard Neveu will steer the organizing team for the event at New York's Javits Centre from November 19-22 next year. After 25 years in the motorsport and automotive industries Neveu has an extensive contacts book and deep experience of staging international events and operating in the US market. During his decade at the helm of WEC, he laid the groundwork for the championship as it is today, with hybrid technology attracting multiple manufacturers. Neveu was also one of the key protagonists in the convergence of regulations between the US based International Motor Sports Association (IMSA, owned by NASCAR) and the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO, owner of WEC and founder of the 24 Hours of Le Mans). Prior to WEC he served as the Director of Paul Ricard Circuit in the South of France. Retromobile Paris celebrates its 50th anniversary next year, and the New York show aims to capitalize on the burgeoning US classic car scene, where more than 50% of the global collectors' cars market is concentrated. Neveu's first moves in the role have been to secure 400,000 square feet in four halls in Javits Center and strike an auction partnership with Gooding Christie's. 'The concept of Retromobile is special,' says Neveu. 'You find both the biggest car collectors and vendors from all around the world at the same time, plus manufacturers and brokers. You also have a fan community attending the event, who can live out their dreams, see cars and people which may bring back precious memories. Retromobile is a celebration of all things automotive, including but not limited to, motorsport. And it is a place where you can live and share your passion for cars of all types.' James Allen The choice of New York, rather than the West Coast or Miami was based on a number of factors, with logistics being a key driver. 'But also because around New York you already have a huge community of car collectors and brokers,' says Neveu. 'For the inaugural show we are looking for 200-250 exhibitors (with more than 80% coming from the USA) and 50,000 – 60,000 visitors. 'The partnership with Gooding Christie's is great for the event because, with the combination of expertise from Gooding and the prestige of Christie's, we have every reason to hope for a spectacular classic car auction." The New York event has a lot to live up to. Retromobile Paris last year attracted 146,000 visitors, of whom 19% were from outside France and 600 exhibitors with auction sales of over $125m.'I'm trying to bring my experience of managing big automotive events and make sure we will be able to offer a great and unique experience to our visitors and participants,' says Neveu. 'The big challenge facing us will be to attain the heights of the prestigious Retromobile Paris. The 50th anniversary of Retromobile next year is the perfect opportunity to export the concept of this exclusive event elsewhere for the very first time and we will do our best to deliver an event in New York with the same DNA as Paris at its core but with the vibrant American colors running right through it.'
