Ozzy Osbourne dies at 76 just weeks after Black Sabbath farewell show in UK
'It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.
He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time,' a family statement said. In 2020 after suffering a fall, he revealed he had Parkinson's disease.
Either clad in black or bare-chested, the singer was often the target of parents' groups for his imagery and once caused an uproar for biting the head off a bat.
Later, he would reveal himself to be a doddering and sweet father on the reality television show The Osbournes.
Black Sabbath's 1969 self-titled debut LP has been likened to the Big Bang of heavy metal. It came during the height of the Vietnam war and crashed the hippie party, dripping menace and foreboding.

How Olympian Jeff Galloway is still running marathons at 80 as he trains for his 237th
Jeff Galloway tends to be pretty low-key about birthdays, but on July 12 this year, things were decidedly different: the inspirational American Olympian runner turned 80. 'I guess this year, because it had a zero on the end, I got a lot of nice messages – a few thousand actually,' he laughs from his home in Florida, where he lives with his wife of 50 years, Barb, who shares his passion for running. To say Galloway has had a positive impact on the take-up of competitive running would be an understatement. He pioneered the Run-Walk-Run method in 1974 – known informally as 'Jeffing' – a training style that involves strategic, small walk breaks to allow runners to manage fatigue and avoid injury. The method has made finishing a distance event accessible to almost everyone. More than a million runners and walkers have read Galloway's books, attended his retreats and running schools, or had online coaching. One of his proudest achievements was getting his then heavily overweight father, Elliott, into running using this method.

Alexandra Saint Mleux may not be getting behind the wheel on race weekends, but she's certainly one of the most recognisable faces in the Formula One paddock. The 23-year-old girlfriend of Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc has claimed her title as the sport's 'It girl' with her impeccable style and elegant demeanour. Photo: @alexandrasaintmleux/Instagram While she maintains a career in arts – she studied the subject and currently runs an art-focused Instagram page – Saint Mleux's eye for fashion is what's getting her plenty of attention. In just over a year, Saint Mleux's previously private Instagram account skyrocketed from under 1,000 followers to nearly 2.5 million, thanks largely to her incredibly chic appearances at numerous Formula One races and events. That fashionable profile has catapulted Saint Mleux into partnerships with a range of well-known brands – she's worked with Hailey Bieber's Rhode and in May, debuted her resortwear collection with Australian label Meshki during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend. Advertisement From China to Italy and the UK, here are five recent looks that have cemented Saint Mleux's status as F1's style icon. Cheongsam-inspired Sau Lee dress in Shanghai, China In March, Alexandra Saint Mleux stunned fans at the Shanghai Grand Prix when she showed up at the paddock wearing this dress by Hong Kong label Sau Lee. Earlier this year, Saint Mleux stole the spotlight at the Shanghai Grand Prix with looks that paid homage to Chinese heritage. On March 21, she stepped into the paddock wearing a black minidress by Hong Kong-based label Sau Lee that featured a Mandarin collar and red knotted accents in a nod to the traditional cheongsam. She added a modern twist with red ballet flats and dark sunglasses, perfectly matching the outfit's colour palette. For the finishing touch, Saint Mleux blended fashion, motorsport and romance by carrying a custom Ferrari Style Maranello clutch inspired by Leclerc's personal Daytona SP3. She ended the weekend with a soft pink co-ord that featured another cheongsam-style top, and Sau Lee's Vanessa midi dress in black, which she paired with a Saint Laurent Cinq-a-Sept mini bag and patent leather stiletto boots. Firm in Coldplay drama hires Chris Martin's ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow to ‘answer questions'
Astronomer – the company whose CEO resigned after being caught on a KissCam at a Coldplay rock concert embracing a woman who was not his wife – is trying to move on from the drama with someone who knows the band pretty well. Actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who was married to Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin for 13 years, announced on Friday on social media that she has been hired by Astronomer as a spokeswoman. Astronomer, a tech company based in New York, found itself in an uncomfortable spotlight when two of its executives were caught on camera in an intimate embrace at a Coldplay concert – a moment that was then flashed on a giant screen in the stadium. CEO Andy Byron and human resource executive Kristin Cabot were caught by surprise when Martin asked the cameras to scan the crowd during a concert earlier this month. 'Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy,' Martin joked when the couple appeared on screen and quickly tried to hide their faces.
