15-year-old UK teenager jailed for killing Indian-origin octogenarian
A 15-year-old boy was sentenced to seven years in jail for killing an 80-year-old Indian-origin man who was assaulted while walking his dog in a park in Leicester, England. HSSC Fake Website Racket Busted, Mastermind Nabbed In Gorakhpur
Last Updated: The fraudulent site mimicked the HSSC portal for CET 2025 registration, collecting fees through QR codes. The Haryana Police arrested the key accused behind a cyber fraud that targeted job seekers through a fake Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) website on Friday, as reported by PTI. According to Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Haryana, Sumita Misra, the main accused—whose name has not yet been disclosed—was operating a counterfeit portal created to resemble the official HSSC site. He was arrested from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. A total of six people have been taken into custody in connection with the scam—four from Gorakhpur, one from Kurukshetra, and one from Fatehabad, PTI reported. Misra explained that the gang designed a fake website that closely imitated the HSSC portal for CET 2025 registration. Hosted on a third-party domain, the site collected registration fees through QR codes, deceiving unsuspecting candidates into making payments. Once the scam came to light, the HSSC complained to the Sector-5 Police Station in Panchkula. The fraudulent website was promptly removed from Google, and the QR code used for payments was deactivated. As per an official statement, at least 77 candidates were duped, with a total fraud amounting to approximately Rs 22,530. Panchkula DCP Srishti Gupta, who is leading the investigation, urged candidates to use only official government websites ending in . and to avoid transactions through QR codes or UPI IDs. 'Anyone found exploiting the dreams of young aspirants will face strict legal action," she said, adding that suspicious links or payment requests should be immediately reported to the nearest police station or the cybercrime helpline. The investigation is being carried out under the supervision of Haryana Police Commissioner Sibash Kabiraj. Meanwhile, the Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) on Tuesday announced the cancellation of the written examination for Assistant Professor (Hindi) posts, conducted on June 1, 2025. The move comes in response to serious allegations of a paper leak, technical disruptions, and security lapses at several exam centres in Panchkula. According to the Commission, the exam faced significant technical problems, particularly related to the printing and sealing of question papers. Convicted child killer mom kicked out of Arizona court room by judge: 'Take her out'
A 51-year-old woman, Lori Vallow Daybell, who is already serving time for multiple murder convictions, was removed from an Arizona courtroom on Friday after a heated exchange with the judge during her ongoing attempted murder trial, reported the New York Post. The woman, known as the 'Doomsday mom,' is representing herself in the case and is accused of conspiring to kill her niece's ex-husband, Brandon Boudreaux. The incident reportedly took place on Oct. 2, 2019, when Boudreaux said he was shot at while driving home in Gilbert, Arizona. Prosecutors allege Vallow Daybell and her brother, Alex Cox, plotted the attack, with Cox firing the shot that narrowly missed Boudreaux's head. Tensions escalated in the courtroom when Vallow Daybell attempted to argue for an additional hearing to present character evidence in her defence. 'Do we get a hearing on what 404b (character evidence) can come in,' Vallow Daybell asked, as reported by East Idaho News. 'If I opened the door, do I get a hearing do we stop the trial and I get a hearing?' Judge Justin Beresky responded sharply, stating a short hearing could be held but warned that such evidence would allow prosecutors to bring up her past murder convictions. The proceedings started with jury selection on May 30. On the second day, proceedings were paused when she claimed to be ill. She later appeared in court in a wheelchair on June 2, crying and stating she felt nauseous. However, Judge Beresky found no medical documentation to support her claims and ordered the trial to continue. During her cross-examination of Boudreaux, Vallow Daybell questioned him about their relationship and her character. Boudreaux testified that they often argued and did not have a good relationship, according to Vallow Daybell was convicted in 2023 of the murders of her two youngest children, Joshua 'JJ' Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 16. Their remains were found on the property of Chad Daybell, her fifth husband. Both were also found guilty of murdering Chad's former wife, Tammy Daybell, in October 2019. Bank Official, Who Stole Crores From FDs And Invested In Stocks, Suspended
An ICICI Bank relationship manager, who allegedly stole Rs 4.58 crore from customer accounts, has been suspended. She has been accused of stealing the money to invest in the stock market, only to incur huge losses. Sakshi Gupta, who worked at the bank's DCM branch in Kota, Rajasthan, misused the 'User Fixed Deposit' link to illegally withdraw money from over 110 accounts belonging to 41 customers between 2020 and 2023. Police said she was arrested on May 31 and sent to judicial custody. An ICICI Bank spokesperson said an FIR had been filed against Ms Gupta, reported news agency PTI. 'The interests of our customers are of paramount importance to us. Immediately upon discovering the fraudulent activity, we filed an FIR with the police,' the bank official said. Reiterating its stance against fraud, the bank added, "We have a zero-tolerance policy against any fraudulent activity and thus suspended the employee involved. We would like to reassure that genuine claims of impacted customers have been settled.' The matter came to light when a customer reached the bank to inquire about his fixed deposit (FD). Branch manager Tarun Dadich filed a complaint against Ms Gupta at the Udhyog Nagar Police Station on February 18. Ramlal Suman, an ICICI Bank customer, said that over Rs 10 lakh had gone missing from his account. He said that customers were stressed after the scam came to light since the bank was regarded as a safe place to deposit money. Mr Suman added, "I met Sakshi Gupta several times when I used to go to the branch. She used to enter details in the bank diary with a pen instead of a machine. This continued for three to four months, and I didn't receive any messages related to transactions on my mobile phone as well. The new bank manager told me that I was a victim of fraud. But a few months ago, I realised that something was wrong when I came to get my bank statements. I mentioned this to the bank, and the manager explained the whole scam to me, assuring me that my money would be returned." Sub-Inspector Ibrahim Khan explained how Ms Gupta shifted funds to different accounts. In some cases, the transfer was made using an elderly woman's account as a "pool account." "She linked the phone numbers of her family members to these accounts and withdrew more than Rs 4 crore. She even devised a system that she used to get the OTPs on her system so that the account holders don't get a whiff of the fraud," the investigating officer told NDTV. Ibrahim Khan alleged that Ms Gupta had misused debit cards, OTPs and PINs for the transactions. She had also activated overdraft facilities on 40 accounts without the consent of the customers. She prematurely closed fixed deposits of 31 accounts, swindling over Rs 1.34 crore, police said. Many of the transactions were conducted using kiosk installations and digital platforms, according to the police. At least four customers' debit cards were used for internet banking and ATM transactions. The proceeds were sent to demat accounts as an attempt to cover up the scam. Ms Gupta was arrested from her parental home in Rawatbhata, Chittorgarh district. She was sent to judicial custody after a one-day remand for interrogation.
