WATCH: Mohammed Siraj celebrates Raksha Bandhan with Zanai, granddaughter of a famous singer, her name is...
New Delhi: On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Indian cricketers shared special moments with their sisters on social media. One of these videos was of fast bowler Mohammed Siraj and Asha Bhosle's granddaughter Zanai Bhosle, which went viral in no time. In the video, Zanai is seen tying a Rakhi to Siraj. Zanai shared this video on Instagram along with Siraj and wrote, 'Happy Rakhi, nothing could have been better than this.' Put an end to the rumors
After the video surfaced, rumors started spreading on social media that Siraj and Zanai were dating each other. However, both clarified that their relationship is only that of brother and sister, and their bond is very lovely. 'Miyan Magic' seen on England tour
The England tour was the best phase of Mohammed Siraj's Test career. He took the most wickets in the series—23 in total—and never got tired even after bowling more than 185 overs. When Jasprit Bumrah needed rest, Siraj played all five consecutive Tests and strengthened the team. View this post on Instagram

Mohammed Siraj bowled an incredible 1113 deliveries, truly proving to be a relentless machine. From Leeds to London, he was the only fast bowler from both teams to play all five Test matches. Delivering 185.3 overs, Siraj finished as the top wicket-taker with 23 wickets. Although his average was slightly on the higher side at 32.43, this is understandable given the high-scoring nature of the series, played mostly on flat pitches against a strong and aggressive batting lineup. Career-best performance in Test rankings
Siraj was named Player of the Match after his brilliant bowling in The Oval Test. With this, he jumped 12 places to 15th position in the ICC Test bowler rankings, which is the highest ranking of his career so far. This achievement is the result of his hard work and consistent performance.

Rumesh Pathirage stuns Sachin Yadav to secure World Championship qualification

Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage stunned home favourite Sachin Yadav to secure direct qualification for the World Championships on Sunday, August 10. It was one and done for young Pathirage, who set the standard with his very first throw of the event, landing a massive throw of throw not only fetched him direct qualification into the World Athletics Championships this year, but also had the field reeling. The Indian trio of Sachin Yadav, Yashvir Singh and Rohit Yadav, expected to perform well in the event, simply failed to catch up on the was the second time that Rumesh performed in front of an Indian crowd. In July, he participated in the Neeraj Chopra Classic, where he bagged the bronze medal. He had sneaked into third place, going past Sachin Yadav, who finished in fourth place. Sachin, who is seen as the next big thing in Indian javelin after Neeraj Chopra, struggled from the very start in Bhubaneshwar's humid conditions. In the pre-event press conference, Sachin had revealed that he had suffered an ankle injury at the Neeraj Chopra Classic, which might have taken its toll Tour: Men's Javelin StandingsRumesh Pathirage: 86.50mShivam Lokhare: 80.73mS Ranasinghe: 80.65mRohit Yadav: 80.35mSachin Yadav: 79.80mYashvir Singh: 78.53mThe failure in the men's javelin was a bummer for the crowd as this event was expected to be the crowd-puller. While the men's failed to secure the top spot in javelin, India's Annu Rani, showed signs of returning to sensational form on Sunday. Annu, freshly back from her top show in Poland, showed that her first 60+m throw was not a fluke, by putting in yet another stunning throw at the Kalinga Stadium. Annu's 62+m throw saw her win gold in the event, helping her add valuable ranking points ahead of the World Championships in Tokyo.- Ends

Chennai To Host 3-Day Patriotic Film Festival Ahead Of Independence Day Celebrations

Patriotism has long been a central theme in Indian cinema, with filmmakers across generations celebrating the nation's history, struggles, and spirit through powerful storytelling. This Independence Day week, that enduring tradition will be honoured through a special patriotic film festival, is jointly organised by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and the National Film Archive of India (NFAI). The three-day festival, to be held from August 11 to 13 at the Tagore Film Centre in Chennai, will showcase a curated selection of landmark feature films and documentaries that have stirred national pride over the decades. The event will be inaugurated on Monday, following the opening screening of the 1965 classic 'Shaheed', which pays tribute to the sacrifices of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev. Seven feature films and four documentaries are on the festival's line-up. Among the feature films are timeless works such as 'Veerapandiya Kattabomman' (1959) and 'Parasakthi' (1952) both starring the legendary Sivaji Ganesan as well as more recent hits like 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' (2019) and 'Swatantra Veer Savarkar' (2023). Other notable titles include 'Saat Hindustani' (1969), Amitabh Bachchan's debut film set against the backdrop of the liberation of Goa, which will be the festival's closing screening. The documentary segment will feature 'Our Flag, Shahadat, Netaji Subash Chandra Bose, and Tilak', each exploring pivotal moments and personalities in India's freedom struggle and nation-building journey. According to the organisers, the festival aims to connect audiences especially younger generations with films that have not only entertained but also inspired patriotism and civic pride. The screenings will serve as a reminder of cinema's powerful role in shaping and reflecting India's collective identity. Entry to all screenings is free, offering the people an opportunity to experience these classics on the big screen. "We want people to relive the stories that shaped our nation and inspired millions," an NFDC official said.

WTC latest points table after New Zealand thrashes Zimbabwe, India's current position is...

New Zealand's overwhelming victory over Zimbabwe in Bulawayo by an innings and 359 runs grabbed attention for its dominance but does not affect the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 points table, and thus has no direct impact on India's current position. This is due to Zimbabwe's exclusion from the WTC cycle, despite being a full member of the ICC. Only the top nine Test teams as of March 31, 2018, were eligible to compete in the tournament when it started in 2019. Afghanistan, Ireland, and Zimbabwe were left out and are still not part of the competition. The nine participating teams in the tournament are Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. India ranks third on the WTC points table With a points percentage of 46.67, India ranks third on the WTC table after the Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy series. With 43.33, England is in fourth place, just behind. With a perfect 100 points from their first games, Australia holds the top spot, followed by Sri Lanka with 66.67. At this point, New Zealand's outcome has no bearing on India. The WTC 2025–27 campaign, which starts in December with a three-Test home series against the West Indies, has not yet begun for the Kiwis, who won the first 2019–21 cycle. New Zealand secured overwhelming victory over Zimbabwe But the Bulawayo match was historic. After declaring themselves at 601 for three, New Zealand easily defeated Zimbabwe twice, with Zak Foulkes taking five wickets in the second innings to secure the third-largest innings victory in Test history. Although this won't affect the current WTC standings, performances like this serve as a reminder that when New Zealand enters the competition, they could become one of India's toughest challengers on the way to the 2027 final.
