Amazon MGM Studio's James Bond film names ‘Peaky Blinders' writer

Yahoo2 days ago
The upcoming James Bond movie now has a writer attached to the project. Steven Knight, who has penned projects like Eastern Promises, Apple TV+'s See, Locke and Netflix's wildly popular Peaky Blinders series, was announced as the script writer on Thursday afternoon. He will join director Denis Villeneuve on the highly-anticipated project.
David Heyman and Amy Pascal have signed on to produce the project, the first Bond movie in its new home at Amazon MGM Studios. Amazon acquired MGM in 20212, taking control of the extensive collection of 007 movies. It wasn't until February of 2025, however, that the studio was able to negotiate a deal for the rights to the creative control of the character.
There has not been a new James Bond announced yet, but the search is apparently on. That hasn't stopped fans from coming up with their own theories on who could take over the mantle from Daniel Craig. Names like Idris Elba, Damson Idris, Callum Turner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Theo James, Tom Holland, Jacob Elordi and Harris Dickinson have all been in the online conversation.
Craig became Bond in 2006's Casino Royale and went on to star in five total movies as 007. His final outing as the dapper spy was in 2021 with No Time To Die.

New entertainment venue in West Sacramento set to open at former Safeway location

A brand-new entertainment venue in West Sacramento is set to open next week. The Boulevard will feature an arcade, bowling alley and restaurant. The 37,000 square foot venue is on West Capitol Avenue and will be in what used to be a Safeway that closed in 2018. "West Sacramento is growing, and we're super happy to be a part of everything that is happening for West Sacramento," said Tami Thompson, the director of marketing. The entertainment venue has something for families and the 21-and-up crowd. "We have a lot of immersive gaming, we have over 65 of the latest state-of-the-art arcade games," Thompson said. The venue offers spark bowling, a tech-twist on the classic game with light-up lanes that follow the ball as it moves towards the pins. There's also a restaurant and bar, laser tag and billiards. But it may be the 30 televisions and 17-foot "wow" wall that puts the new business on the watch list for sports fans with Major League Baseball a few blocks away. "You can come watch the A's game, come after the game, we're trying to be a regional attraction for the greater Sacramento area," Thompson said. Thompson said the location, just off Interstate 80 and near Sutter Health Park, sets the Boulevard apart from other area attractions. "Maybe visitors who aren't from West Sacramento can come up here and reach us in a reasonable amount of time," Thompson said. With dozens of new jobs created for the city, the final step, opening day, is a week from Friday. There's a VIP event on Wednesday. A paid ticket gets you in first and all the proceeds go to three local charities: Loaves and Fishes, Habitat for Humanity and the Yolo County Children's Alliance.

Tom Holland's new Spider-Man suit has been partially revealed ahead of Brand New Day, and the first look is giving us Sam Raimi vibes

Spider-Man's new suit in Brand New Day has been teased in a new promo, and it appears Tom Holland's Spidey might have been taking some design tips from Tobey Maguire's webhead during the events of No Way Home... As you can see below, Sony has offered the briefest of glimpses at the new Spider-Man suit. While it's deliberately obscured and vague, there's plenty to get attached to, not least of all the shiny red colorway and the raised webbing, one that instantly calls to mind Sam Raimi's 2000s trilogy of Spider-Man films. Tom Holland will seemingly don that suit in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, and Jon Bernthal. It's not yet known, though, if he will keep the pitch-perfect costume that was shown during the No Way Home ending. The first look at the suit may have come from an official source but, on the more unofficial end of the spectrum, a recent series of set photos may have confirmed that Mister Negative will be prowling the streets of New York as Brand New Day's Big Bad. The villain made his name as the foil for Spidey in Insomniac's series of PlayStation titles. Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits cinemas on July 31, 2026 as part of Marvel Phase 6. MCU boss Kevin Feige reveals why Marvel is pairing up Spider-Man and The Punisher in Brand New Day: "[It's] street-level crime as opposed to world-ending events"

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Tom Holland's Spider-Man is pivoting away from Multiverse plots in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day to offer fans more "street-level crime" action, according to Marvel boss Kevin Feige. "I think there's a promise at the end of No Way Home that for as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories, him being a proper Spider-Man," Feige recently told GamesRadar+ and other media outlets during a roundtable. "It's him being by himself, dedicated to saving the city and dealing with, for lack of [a] better [term], street-level crime as opposed to world-ending events that he faced when working with the other characters," he added. After participating in numerous cosmic adventures like Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, Peter Parker is staying in New York for his next adventure. It's only natural, then, that his world collides with the events of Daredevil: Born Again, released earlier this year. Jon Bernthal's Punisher was announced last month as one of the major characters in the film after reappearing for a couple of episodes of the Disney+ show. Feige explained that he saw this movie as a great opportunity to pair up two fan-favorite heroes that had never interacted before on screen. "When you do that, you say, 'Okay, who are the other street-level characters that we've never seen them interact with?' And of course, I love that Punisher started in a Spider-Man comic, on that great cover," said Feige, referring to the Spider-Man cover where The Punisher made his first appearance, The Amazing Spider-Man #129, released in February 1974. "I don't want to say too much," he continued, "but Destin [Daniel Cretton]… Wait, I will say too much. Destin is doing an amazing job right now on that movie that starts shooting very soon, and he's got eight or nine comic covers up on his wall in his art department that he is bringing to life in this movie. It is super cool." We can't wait to see which other comics and covers have inspired the upcoming film, which is being helmed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton. Filming is set to start this summer, with Tom Holland teasing that the film will "lean into that old-school filmmaking" and use "real locations". The star has also hinted at a "fresh start" for his character following the events of the Spider-Man: No Way Home ending. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are set to reprise their roles as Michelle 'MJ' Jones-Watson and Ned Leeds, respectively, while new cast members include Stranger Things star Sadie Sink and The Bear's Liza Colón-Zayas. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to premiere on July 31, 2026, as part of Marvel Phase 6.
