Nealis opened the scoring in the 74th minute. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, on the left side, cut inside to evade a defender and played a low cross to Nealis for a first-touch finish that ricocheted off the post into the net.
Philadelphia (15-6-6) is the points leader in all of MLS with 51. Cincinnati, which plays Portland later Saturday, and San Diego FC, which leads the Western Conference and plays Sunday against San Jose, each have 49 points,
Union goalkeeper Andre Blake had a save before the 34-year-old left the game with an apparent hamstring injury in the 28th minute and was replaced by 19-year-old Andrew Rick.
New York's Kyle Duncan (red card, violent conduct) and the Union's Jakob Glesnes (yellow card accumulation) served one-game suspensions.
Philadelphia beat the Red Bulls 2-0 at home on July 12.

ZURICH (AP) — FIFA President Gianni Infantino says that two incidents of alleged racist abuse which marred German Cup games are 'unacceptable' as German police investigate. Infantino's comments came a day after Schalke's Christopher Antwi-Adjei said he was subjected to racist abuse in a cup game at Lokomotive Leipzig. He was whistled by fans throughout the match after reporting the incident to officials. In another incident, a Kaiserslautern substitute was racially abused while warming up in a game at RSV Eintracht, the team's coach said. He didn't name the player affected. Both incidents occurred as lower-league clubs from the former East Germany hosted larger teams in first-round games. 'It is unacceptable that incidents have occurred at two DFB-Pokal matches in Germany,' Infantino wrote on social media, using the German name for the competition. 'Football has no place for racism or any form of discrimination.' Infantino said FIFA's Players' Voice Panel would be 'in touch' with the German soccer federation. 'Everyone at FIFA, The Players' Voice Panel and the whole football community stands firmly with all those impacted by these events — we are committed to ensuring that players are respected and protected, and that competition organizers and law enforcement authorities take appropriate action,' Infantino added. The incidents in Germany came two days after Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo reported that he was racially abused by a spectator while playing at Liverpool. The game was briefly paused as the referee spoke to the coaches and captains of both teams. Police said Saturday that a 47-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offense. He was taken into custody to be interviewed. Santos fires coach and Neymar in tears after 6-0 loss at home
SAO PAULO (AP) — Santos fired its coach, Cleber Xavier, after a 6-0 home loss Sunday to Vasco Da Gama that saw Neymar leave the field in tears after the match. 'The club thanks the coach for the services provided,' Santos said of Xavier, who only took over in April, 'and wishes him luck in the continuation of his career.' The result left Santos — famously the club of Brazil great Pele and now Neymar — in 15th place in the 20-team Brazilian top flight, two points above the relegation zone. Neymar was consoled on the field by a member of Santos' backroom staff after a game that saw Vasco's Philippe Coutinho score twice. Sébastien Haller leaves Dortmund for Utrecht after stint marked by cancer recovery and near-misses
DORTMUND, Germany (AP) — Sébastien Haller's eventful three years at Borussia Dortmund ended Monday with a transfer to Dutch club Utrecht. It ended a stint with the German club which began with a cancer diagnosis but during his time there Haller almost won the Bundesliga, reached the final of the Champions League, and won the African Cup of Nations with Ivory Coast. He found himself increasingly sidelined at Dortmund, though, and spent last season on loan. 'Sébastien has written a special story here,' Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl said in a statement Monday. Weeks after signing for Dortmund in 2022, and before playing a game, Haller was diagnosed with a testicular tumor during the team's preseason camp. After two operations and a course of chemotherapy, he returned to action just six months later. Nine Bundesliga goals from Haller in the second half of the 2022-23 season put Dortmund on the verge of a long-awaited Bundesliga title but the team fell short in the final minutes of the season. Injuries and inconsistent form meant Haller's role in the Champions League final a year later was as a late substitute when Dortmund lost 2-0 to Real Madrid. It was to be his last game for Dortmund before loans last season with Leganes in Spain and then Utrecht. Haller returns on a one-season contract to familiar surroundings at Utrecht, where his prolific scoring a decade ago helped to launch his career. He scored six times in 18 games on loan there last season to help the team finish fourth in the Dutch league, which put the team into the Europa League qualifying rounds.
