Titan to watch US tariff situation till Aug-end before any pricing move
During the Q1 FY'26 earnings conference call, Venkataraman indicated that the company is performing "pretty well" despite the new tariffs. He noted that the US market accounts for only about 2% of Titan's sales, making the tariffs "not a deal breaker."
The company, which is known for its diverse range of products including watches, jewelry, and eyewear, plans to observe the situation until the end of August before finalising any pricing strategies.
In a forward-looking statement, Venkataraman highlighted the growth of Titan's international jewellery business, particularly following its recent entry into the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. He projects that the international business, including the US and GCC, could grow to 6% of total company sales. This growth has prompted the company to explore the possibility of establishing global supply chains in different parts of the world, though there are currently "no concrete plan to share."

The Karnataka government on Monday launched KATALYST , a dedicated Ease of Doing Business cell to support Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in the state. Addressing over 200 CEOs at a breakfast meeting before the Bengaluru Tech Summit (BTS) kicked off, chief minister Siddaramaiah said the move would make Karnataka 'one of India's most business-friendly states.'The one-stop window will fast-track GCC setup to under 45 days, offer a single-point GCC handbook, and streamline industry connect and incentive queries. Under its GCC Policy 2024-2029 , Karnataka aims to add 500 GCCs by 2029, creating 3.5 lakh jobs and $50 billion in economic output. The state currently hosts 875 GCCs, accounting for 30% of India's total GCC count.'We host over 875 global capability centres, which is 30% of India's total. Our goal is to add 500 more GCCs by 2029, creating 350,000 jobs and $50 billion in economic output,' the CM said during his address to the added that the state is also building tech clusters beyond Bengaluru to ensure growth across the state. The CM also highlighted Karnataka's role in shaping India's tech future, citing its share of 44% in software exports and hosting half of the country's artificial intelligence (AI) per the government, the three-day summit will be held from November 18-20, which will play host to 20,000 startup founders, 1,000 investors, 600 speakers, and 1,200 exhibitors from more than 60 countries. Themed "Futurise," the BTS will feature 10 conference tracks spanning AI, semiconductors, biotech, spacetech, fintech, and sustainability. Key highlights from the event will include the Future Makers Conclave, Startup Springboard, and country delegations under the Global Innovation Kharge, minister for IT-BT, said its bold new vision, expanded scale, and global outlook, BTS 2025, will further strengthen Karnataka's leadership in shaping the future of technology, innovation, and sustainable development for India and the world.

Chennai: Premium Indian liquor lovers in Tamil Nadu will soon find award-winning single malts at all Tasmac outlets. Bengaluru-based Indri-Trini single malt whisky and Amrut Fusion single malt whisky, winners of global "World's Best Whisky" titles in 2023 and 2024, will be available in both elite and regular Tasmac shops in the coming months, sources said. The state govt amended its liquor procurement policy in 2023 to allow sourcing from other states, paving the way for six new liquor varieties, five beer brands, and eight wines to enter the market. Tasmac has fixed 3,500 per carton as the base price for out-of-state supplies to ensure local distilleries and breweries remain competitive. "Though high landed costs initially discouraged out-of-state brands, the untapped premium segment in Tamil Nadu proved attractive," said a source. Royal Ranthambore whisky and Jaisalmer gin from Radico Khaitan were introduced last year, followed by Pernod Ricard's 100 Pipers and Blenders Pride. The latest entrant, Tilaknagar Industries, is supplying Mansion House Ultra French brandy and Courrier Napoleon Green brandy, and may soon bring Imperial Blue whisky, procured from Pernod Ricard, to the state. Tasmac officials said imported liquor suppliers do not provide liquor to the corporation despite the easy licence procedure in place, as the market for premium liquor is just 0.5% of the overall sales volumes. "However, we want to make national brands that are more sought-after in other states and globally available here," said a senior official.
