How to get free parking in Dubai Mall

Time Out Dubai4 days ago

Free parking used to be one of Dubai Mall's most-loved perks — right up there with the dancing fountains (which are currently getting a summer glow-up) and late-night Zara runs.
But times have changed.
Last summer, Dubai Mall introduced a paid parking system that started on Monday July 1, 2024.
This means that fee collection will be done automatically using vehicle plate recognition when your car enters and exits the building.
No need to panic, though. If you've been wondering how to dodge unexpected charges on your next shopping spree, we've got you covered.
Parking will be free for the first four hours on weekdays and six hours on weekends; after that, your Salik account will automatically be charged.
Fees apply only to Grand Parking, Cinema Parking and Fashion Parking, and they are as follows.
Monday to Thursday
4-5 hours: Dhs40
5-6 hours: Dhs60
6-7 hours: Dhs80
8-12 hours: Dhs100
12-24 hours: Dhs500
24 hours+: Dhs1,000
Friday to Sunday
6-7 hours: Dhs80
7-8 hours: Dhs100
8-12 hours: Dhs200
12-24 hours: Dhs500
24 hours+: Dhs1,000
Okay, how can I actually get free parking in Dubai Mall all day long?
If you want to spend the whole day at Dubai Mall without worrying about parking fees, you can park at either Zabeel or Fountain Views parking.
The Dubai Mall Zabeel is an extension of the mall and offers 3,000 parking spaces that won't cost you a thing to park at.
It has easy access from Al Khail Road, and the parking spaces are spread across seven levels, plus there are plenty of valet parking opportunities.

And the best part is that it's connected to The Dubai Mall via a link bridge that takes two minutes to cross. You'll find yourself nearest to the Grand Parking area.
It's important to know that Dubai Mall Zabeel is a mall in its own right and is home to EKart Zabeel, a huge gym, a supermarket, extensive art on the walls, a bunch of restaurants and a host of new retail and lifestyle experiences.
You can also get free parking all day long at the Fountain Views parking located on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard across the road from Dubai Mall's China Town.
This parking is accessible via Al Asayel Street, behind the boulevard.

Fountain Views is a licensed area home to a list of top-notch restaurants and hotels. There is also a licensed cinema, CinemaCity, a supermarket, cafés and much more.
Once you park in Fountain Views, you can easily access the Dubai Mall by crossing a bridge or crossing the road into the China Town extension.

25 towns in regional Victoria are competing for gold in prestigious tourism awards

Victoria is dotted with regional towns that have so many attributes making them worth a visit. Our state has plenty of spots that are perfect for weekend getaways, offering everything from world-class galleries to fine-dining restaurants, and off-grid escapes to stunning hotels. Every year, these places across Victoria compete to claim an award in the TAC Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards, with only three towns in the whole of the state claiming a title. The finalists for 2025 have just been revealed, with 25 towns making the cut, and it seems like the competition will be a close call if the calibre of these towns is anything to go by. It all comes down to votes from the public that will help to decide who the winners will be. To make it a fair competition, the three award categories are defined by population size, which means that there are three prizes to be won. The Top Tourism Town award is for regional cities with a population of more than 5,000 people, with nine Victorian destinations in the running to claim the title. The finalists for this category are the historic goldfields towns of Ballarat and Bendigo, the riverside spots of Echuca, Swan Hill, Mildura and Shepparton, the seaside towns of Warrnambool and Lakes Entrance, and last but not least, Werribee (which was once its own town, but is now an outer suburb of Melbourne). The next prize to be awarded is the Top Small Tourism Town, with qualifiers having a population between 1,500 and 5,000 people. The wine havens of Heathcote and Rutherglen, the lake laden spot Camperdown, the peak-side town of Mount Beauty, picturesque Paynesville and the coastal towns of Port Fairy and Portarlington make up the seven finalists for this category. Last but not least, there's the Top Tiny Town award, encompassing places with a population of fewer than 1,500 people. The nine finalists for this category are the Grampians ' Dunkeld and Halls Gap, seaside spots of Flinders, Kilcunda, Marlo, the mountain range towns of Natimuk and Noojee, as well as Whitfield and Trentham. To be selected as a finalist in the TAC Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards, each hopeful town had to make a submission demonstrating a strong commitment to tourism, increasing visitation to the destination, collaborating with local businesses, and overall making the town the best destination it can be. A panel of expert judges then chose the top destinations to determine the finalists. Last year, the winners of the three awards were Bendigo for Victoria's Top Tourism Town, Daylesford for the Top Small Tourism Town Award and the ice cream haven of Timboon came out a winner for the Top Tiny Tourism Town Award. Now, the public get to decide who this year's winners will be. Voting for the TAC Victorian Top Tourism Town Awards is now open, and will close on June 27 at 5pm, so make sure to cast your vote here.

When will Dubai Fountain reopen? The proposed dates to know

Dubai Fountain is one of the most iconic and recognisable attractions in the emirate, but it will be closed for the majority of the year while major upgrades are carried out. While the world's largest performing fountain is closed, Emaar has introduced new measures to enhance the visitor experience in the area surrounding Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa. When will Dubai Fountain reopen? Dubai Fountain show (Credit: Supplied) Dubai Fountain is currently closed due to major redevelopments to make it even better than before. By Dubai's standards, we're in for a treat. Although an official opening date has yet to be established, Dubai Mall confirmed that the fountain is aiming to be fully operational by October 2025. Emaar also shared a similar prediction via their official channels, and wrote, 'The renovation will commence in May and is expected to take five months to complete.' Dubai Fountain currently Dubai Fountain is officially closed while major upgrades are underway Dubai Fountain looks completely different without water The first stage of the Dubai Fountain revamp involves closing down the attraction and removing the 30 acres of water, before alternative measures are installed (more about that below), so the hard work can begin. After the official closure on Saturday April 19, the Downtown spot looks completely different without the huge artificial Burj Khalifa Lake. With already significant progress underway, we can't wait to see the final result. Dubai Fountain upgrade plans So, what can we expect with the upgrade? There will be advanced technology, improved choreography, and an enhanced sound and lighting system used in the regular performances. The shows, held in the Burj Lake, saw the fountains spray up to 22,000 gallons of water as high as 140m in the air at any one time while accompanied by lights and music. Dubai Fountain alternatives The Dubai Fountain Show will close for five months this year (Credit: Emaar) The area surrounding Dubai Mall and Souk Al Bahar is one of the most popular places for visitors to the city as it offers a great view of the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain show. Emaar, the property developer behind Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa, will install 500 metres of state-of-the-art digital screens across the promenade while work is carried out on the Dubai Fountain. The screens are designed to animate the location with engaging visual content, and it is hoped that they will keep the promenade busy while the fountain is closed. Dubai Fountain show (Credit: Emaar) In addition to the state-of-the-art screens, Emaar has also announced that rent for 50 food and beverage spots with lake and fountain-facing terraces will be waived for four months between June and September. The affected terrace spaces are likely to experience a decline in footfall while upgrades are put in place at the Dubai Fountain. Guests at restaurants in the area surrounding the Dubai Fountain would normally have an incredible view of the attraction's nightly shows against the backdrop of the world's tallest building. While there will still be great views of the city and its most iconic building, the property developer is supporting its tenants during the temporary closure. Dubai Fountain show (Credit: Supplied) Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emaar, highlighted the popularity of Dubai Fountain for visitors. He said: 'For years, Dubai Fountain and the surrounding lake have contributed significantly to the popularity of these destinations. 'As we move into a new chapter, this rent support reflects our commitment to long-term partnerships and to helping tenants navigate this transition with resilience and confidence.' Making plans?
