Bitget Upgrades Liquidity Incentive Program with Top-Tier Maker Rebate for Institutional Traders
VICTORIA, Seychelles, April 23, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) —
Bitget
, the leading cryptocurrency exchange and Web3 company, has announced a major upgrade to its Liquidity Incentive Program, set to take effect on May 1, 2025. The revamped program introduces a more competitive fee structure, enhanced rewards, and expanded coverage for both spot and futures markets. This strategic update aligns with Bitget's commitment in 2025 to serving institutional investors, improving liquidity depth, and trading efficiency across its platform.
The upgraded program introduces a tiered system with market-leading fee incentives, including maker rebates of up to -0.012% on spot and -0.005% on futures, and taker fees starting as low as 0.02% and 0.025%, respectively. For the first time, maker rebates will apply to major perpetual contract trading pairs such as BTCUSDT and ETHUSDT, significantly enhancing rewards for liquidity providers and high-frequency trading firms. Around 130 futures pairs now enjoy Bitget's top-tier fee rates, with more to be added in the following months after regular liquidity review.
To further accelerate onboarding, new liquidity providers can submit historical trading records to receive a tier upgrade, granting access to better fee rates and higher API rate limits from the start.
'In 2025, one of our top strategic priorities is the expansion of Bitget's institutional ecosystem. By upgrading our liquidity incentives, we aim to create a more attractive and sustainable environment for market makers and professional traders. Strong institutional participation not only drives market depth but also contributes to the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies,' said
Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget
.
This announcement follows Bitget's recent upgrade of its institutional lending services, which now support over 50 collateral assets with flexible loan terms of up to 12 months — providing institutions with scalable and efficient access to capital. In parallel, Bitget also launched invite-only live trading for its Unified Account, enabling professional traders to manage spot, margin, and futures positions under one simplified interface. Together, these enhancements form a critical part of Bitget's broader institutional strategy, aimed at delivering a seamless, high-performance infrastructure that meets the evolving needs of sophisticated trading firms.

Crypto to Become UAE's Second Biggest Sector

The crypto industry is set to experience massive growth in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to its pro-tech and business crypto sector in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is on track to become its second-largest industry in the next five years, due to the country's regulatory policies and attractive business environment, according to Chase Ergen, a board member of publicly traded digital asset investment firm DeFi Technologies. 'They have a reputation for leadership, legislation, and community,' Ergen told Cointelegraph in an interview. He also predicted: 'They sell oil, that's their main business. I think their second-biggest business is going to be the blockchain industry in the next five years. This will start to be double-digit parts of the economy.' The country has a clear crypto regulatory framework, a community of key crypto industry executives, a debt-free economy that allows the government to funnel surplus into tech investments, low crime, attractive tax policies, and forward-thinking leadership, Ergen added. The UAE has created a moat that has made it the undisputed hub for crypto and tech in the Middle East and Africa (MENA) amid growing nation-state adoption of crypto and the race between sovereign powers to become global leaders in the digital finance age. Nation-state crypto adoption accelerated in 2025, following the inauguration of president Donald Trump in the United States and the regulatory shift that followed. The Trump White House released its long-promised crypto report in July, outlining the administration's plan to make the US the global leader in crypto. Pakistan's government reversed its long-held opposition to cryptocurrencies in November 2024, one day before the US presidential election. Since that time, Pakistan has established a national Bitcoin reserve and appointed a national crypto council to craft a comprehensive digital asset regulatory framework within the country. Sovereign wealth funds, including the UAE's Mubadala and Norway's sovereign fund, have exposure to Bitcoin BTC$115,221 through exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and other investment vehicles. Norway's sovereign wealth fund, the largest state-directed investment fund of its kind in the world, increased its Bitcoin exposure by 192% over the last year, according to crypto research firm K33. Norway's Sovereign Wealth Fund Ups Its Indirect Exposure To Bitcoin

Norway's sovereign wealth fund, the largest state-directed wealth fund in the world, increased its indirect Bitcoin exposure by 192% over the last year, according to crypto research company K33 Research. The fund has indirect exposure to 7,161 BTC through its investment portfolio, which includes treasury companies Strategy and Metaplanet and crypto exchange Coinbase. Norway's sovereign wealth fund continues to increase its Bitcoin and crypto exposure. Source: Vetle Lunde The fund currently holds over 11.9 billion Norwegian krone ($1.2 billion) of Strategy's stock, a 133% increase from 2024. Similarly, the fund has increased its Coinbase holdings by over 96% since 2024. Norway's increase in BTC holdings reflects a broader trend of sovereign wealth funds gaining indirect exposure through BTC investment vehicles and corporate proxies, as the world's first cryptocurrency becomes integrated into the traditional financial system. The Norwegian sovereign wealth fund also increased exposure to BTC holding company Strategy in 2025. Source: Norges Bank Investment Management Sovereign wealth and state pension funds legally mandate managers to invest only in pre-defined asset classes such as fixed-income securities, corporate bonds, equities and others. Because of these restrictions, fund managers who want to invest in Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies must gain indirect exposure through an investment vehicle like an exchange-traded fund (ETF), a corporate bond or a company proxy like Strategy. The State of Wisconsin State Investment Board (SWIB), the organization that manages the US state's pension system, was one of the first state-level pension funds in the country to disclose indirect Bitcoin exposure through a $164 million investment into BTC ETFs. In February, SWIB disclosed that its BTC holdings nearly doubled, surging to over $321 million, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing. The pension manager sold off BTC holdings in May but retained a $50 million position in BTC proxy Strategy. Kazakhstan's sovereign wealth fund announced in July that it plans to convert a portion of its assets to crypto. Timur Suleimenov, head of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, said the prospective move is intended to generate more investment income for the wealth fund, and the government is also exploring converting other assets like gold and foreign currency reserves to crypto.

Ethereum Is The ‘Biggest Macro Trade' For Next 10-15 Years: Fundstrat

Market strategy and research firm Fundstrat said Ether will be the 'biggest macro trade' over the next 10 years, as it predicted Ether may rally to as much as $15,000 by the end of 2025. 'ETH is arguably the biggest macro trade for the next 10 to 15 years as AI creates a token economy on the blockchain and as Wall Street financializes on the blockchain,' said Fundstrat Capital chief information officer Thomas Lee on Wednesday. Head of digital asset research for Fundstrat, Sean Farrell, said ETH could go as high as $12,000 to $15,000 by year-end, 'so there is still plenty of upside.' Lee was echoing his comments in a company research bulletin on Wednesday, where he explained that the Wall Street push will be spurred by the GENIUS Act stablecoin regulations and by the US Securities and Exchange Commission's 'Project Crypto,' which aims to modernize the agency for the digital finance age. Lee said the majority of stablecoins and Wall Street projects are being built on Ether. The Ethereum network currently has a commanding 55% market share of the $25 billion real-world asset (RWA) tokenization sector, according to ETH has skyrocketed 60% over the past 30 days, hitting a four-year high of $4,770, just 2.5% away from its 2021 peak, during early trading on Thursday. 'Ethereum is outperforming Bitcoin YTD, gaining +28% vs +18% for Bitcoin,' Lee pointed out. The world's largest Ethereum treasury company, BitMine Immersion Technologies, has targeted a huge $20 billion raise to increase its treasury. Related: Pantera bets $300M on crypto treasury companies, says gains may outpace ETFs The firm has aggressively accumulated 1.2 million ETH since the beginning of July, and its treasury is now worth almost $5.5 billion. Meanwhile, company stock (BMNR) has skyrocketed 1,300% over the same period. In a note seen by Cointelegraph, BTC Markets' crypto analyst, Rachael Lucas, said these positions are strategic and long-term, 'taking substantial liquidity out of the market.' 'When you combine record ETF inflows with corporate and sovereign balance sheet allocations, the result is deep structural demand meeting finite supply,' she said, adding: 'That's a recipe for sustained upward pressure on prices, and a sign that digital assets are firmly embedded in global capital markets.' In July, BitMine suggested the implied value of Ether could be as high as $60,000.
