MWL Hosts Iftar Gathering at US Congress in Washington
The Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL) has hosted an iftar gathering at the US Congress in Washington, according to Saudi Gazette.
The iftar brought together various members of the American Congress, representing both the Republican and Democratic parties.
In order to strengthen the values of understanding and coexistence in local communities, the gathering has invited Islamic figures and followers of other religions.
By bringing Muslims and non-Muslims together, the iftar stands as a testament to MWL's pivotal efforts in representing the Muslim Ummah.
Secretary General of MWL and Chairman of the Muslim Scholars Association Sheikh Muhammad Al-Issa welcomed the attendees through a video message.
Moreover, Al-Issa stated that MWL hosts such religious events to promote the values of coexistence and cooperation between Muslims and non-Muslims. Sheikh Muhammad Al-Issa
He noted that the iftar is the first of its kind in the US Congress in the holy month of Ramadan.
'Ramadan gives us an opportunity to appreciate Allah's blessings upon us and acknowledge the suffering of unfortunate people in this world. At the same time, it is a test of our piety, self-control, and commitment to obeying Allah during this month through fasting,' he said.
The iftar highlighted the participation of House Religious Leader Margaret Kipling, Republican Representative Joe Wilson of South Carolina, Democratic Representative April McClain Delaney of Maryland, and Director of the White House Office of Interfaith Affairs Jennifer Korn.

Hajj: A message of peace and unity
Hajj, the fifth pillar of Islam, is not merely a religious rite performed annually by Muslims, it is the greatest spiritual gathering known to humanity. During this blessed season, Muslims from all corners of the world demonstrate how diversity can be a source of strength, not weakness, when they come together with shared purpose, hearts directed toward their Creator, and sincere intentions seeking forgiveness and unity. It is an eloquent annual lesson in tolerance and openness — one whose impact should extend beyond the spiritual realm to relations between nations and peoples. We believe that Hajj is not only an individual obligation but also an annual opportunity to renew the values of Islamic solidarity and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among nations. Just as pilgrims gather on the same plain, Muslims must also unite in the spheres of politics, dialogue and cooperation — for the benefit of their peoples and the stability of their homelands. Moreover, they must extend their hands with love and peace to all nations, as commanded by Allah. Here, the significant role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation becomes evident. As the collective umbrella organization for the Islamic world, it must serve as a platform to bridge perspectives, promote development and defend the causes and interests of its member states — foremost among them being the Palestinian cause and the challenges facing Muslim minorities around the globe. Hajj teaches us that unity is not a choice — it is a necessity. The voice of wisdom resonates more powerfully when it emerges from a united stance and a shared vision. From our diplomatic position, we see Hajj as an opportunity for the meeting of diverse Islamic cultures, the exchange of experiences and the deepening of cooperation among Muslim peoples. This is something all of us in diplomatic institutions must cherish and work to establish as a lasting value that transcends time and place. My country, the Republic of Djibouti, through its balanced and moderate political positions and its membership of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, seeks to remain a bridge for communication and dialogue and a platform for coordination among Islamic nations on various issues. MWL chief delivers Stanford lecture on values amid global ideological conflicts
Saudi Gazette report CALIFORNIA — The Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and President of the Association of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, delivered a keynote lecture at Stanford University titled 'Values in the Face of Contemporary Conflicts.' The lecture examined the root causes and dangers of ideological—both religious and intellectual—conflicts, emphasizing the importance of understanding, coexistence, and collaboration among diverse belief systems. Dr. Al-Issa distinguished between natural religious and intellectual differences that reflect life's reality and the more destructive ideological clashes that divide societies and nations, offering both diagnoses and proposed solutions. The event included an overview of international law and humanitarian law, with an analysis of their application in modern global crises. Dr. Al-Issa also outlined the MWL's global initiatives aimed at promoting peace, social cohesion, and value-based development, and provided an expanded discussion on Islamic principles, underlining the distinction between authentic Islamic teachings and misrepresentations by individuals or groups. A special emphasis was placed on the Makkah Charter, highlighting its Islamic consensus, foundational vision, and universal values. Following the lecture, Dr. Al-Issa engaged in an open Q&A session that included surveys and dialogue with the audience.
