Nepal and West Indies set to play first bilateral T20I series in September

New Delhi [India], June 13 (ANI): Nepal and the West Indies are set to square off against each other in a three-match T20I series in September in Sharjah, marking the first bilateral series between the two sides.
Despite the games being played at a neutral venue, Nepal has been assigned as the series' official host. A statement from Cricket West Indies (CWI) called the series historic and stated that the board's 'engagement reflects its strong commitment to supporting the development of cricket in emerging nations and fostering meaningful partnerships with fellow cricketing boards worldwide.'
'This series is more than just a set of international matches--it's a celebration of the game's expanding global footprint and a testament to what cricket represents: pride, purpose, and the power of unity. As a full-member nation, we see it as part of our responsibility to contribute to the development of cricket beyond our borders,' CWI CEO Chris Dehring said in a statement by the CWI.
'Supporting Nepal in this key phase of their cricketing journey not only builds the sport at the grassroots and international levels but also reminds us of the deep pride and honour associated with representing our nation and wearing our national colours. We are proud to stand with Nepal at this moment in their history and look forward to exciting and competitive cricket in Sharjah,' Dehring added.
The series will kick off on September 27, followed by the second T20I on the next day, and the three-match affair will conclude on September 30. All matches will be played at the same venue in Sharjah.
CWI extended 'its sincere thanks to the Cricket Association of Nepal and the Emirates Cricket Board for their collaboration in organising the series and looks forward to continuing to work together towards advancing the global growth and accessibility of the game of cricket.' (ANI)

J-K: Jammu University along with Army organise sports camp to revive tourism in Doda
Doda (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 14 (ANI): In a step towards reviving adventure tourism and promoting indigenous games among the youth, the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education (DOSPE), University of Jammu, in collaboration with the Indian Army, organised a ten-day Sports Camp at the Bhadarwah Campus in Doda district. The joint initiative came after recent tensions in the region following the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which adversely impacted tourism and youth activities. The summer camp was designed to boost the morale of the local population. The initiative featured various traditional and modern games, providing young participants with a valuable opportunity to explore their talents and stay engaged in constructive activities. Events included athletics, volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, and wrestling, drawing enthusiastic participation from both students and local youth. Dr Dawood Baba, Director of DOSPE, Jammu University, said, 'The camp aimed to primarily help revive adventure tourism in Bhadarwah Valley, which was badly affected due to the recent tensions after the Pahalgam attack. Besides, local rural games like Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Wrestling, Volleyball, and Athletics will also be promoted on a larger platform.' 'This is not just about sports; it's about healing, rebuilding trust, and giving the youth of Jammu & Kashmir a platform to express themselves positively,' Dawood said. He added that the initiative's objective was to take students beyond the boundaries of the classroom and theory, discover hidden talent, and nurture it through practical exposure. 'This camp is an important component of physiological development. We aim to bring students out of their four walls and beyond bookish learning, so they can gain real-life experience and grow holistically,' he said. Colonel Yogesh Chouhan, Commanding Officer, 4 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), reaffirmed the Indian Army's commitment to youth empowerment and said, 'The Army is always there to help youth in whatever way we can. Our goal is to build trust and provide growth opportunities.' Zehra Malik, a student participant, spoke to ANI about the event and said, 'I always wanted a platform to show my talent in athletics, and this event made it possible.' 'It's not just about winning, but the confidence we gain and the unity we feel here. These outdoor activities help us connect with nature and improve our mental strength. It's a refreshing break from regular classes,' she said. Lakshika Jamwal, an athlete, said, 'Such events should happen more often. Suruchi Singh clinches gold in women's 10m air pistol at ISSF World Cup in Munich
Munich [Germany], June 14 (ANI): Indian shooter Suruchi Singh clinched the gold medal in the women's 10m air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup 2025, held in Munich, Germany, on Friday. The victory in Munich marked Suruchi's continued dominance in this year's ISSF World Cup series, having already secured top podium finishes in the Buenos Aires and Lima legs, according to The 19-year-old Indian shooter shot a total of 241.9 in the final, edging out France's Camille Jedrzejewski (241.7) in a nail-biting finish. The People's Republic of China's Qianxun Yao took bronze with 221.7. Suruchi, who won seven gold medals in the shooting nationals in New Delhi last year, was second at one stage with a score of 162.3, trailing Qianxun Yao by 0.4 points, said. However, Qianxun Yao dropped out of the top two after three successive shots below 10. According to the Indian was then overtaken by Jedrzejewski, but a composed 10.5 in the decisive stages gave Suruchi the edge. For Jedrzejewski, her penultimate shot of 9.5 proved to be costly. Earlier in the qualification round, Suruchi placed second with a score of 588. Two-time Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker finished 25th with a score of 574 and did not qualify for the final. Sainyam, competing for Ranking Points Only (RPO), was fifth with a total of 580. Asian Games champion Palak Gulia ranked 36th after shooting 570, while Simranpreet Kaur Brar (568) was 51st. Suruchi Singh's gold was India's third medal in Munich. Sift Kaur Samra and Elavenil Valarivan had won bronze medals in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions and 10m air rifle events, respectively. Meanwhile, no Indian made it to the final of the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event on Friday, with Anish Bhanwala, Adarsh Singh, Vijayveer Sidhu, Ankur Goel and Gurmeet failing to make the top eight in the qualifiers. Anish Bhanwala, with a score of 581, was the best-placed Indian at 18th. The Munich leg is the third ISSF World Cup of the season for rifle and pistol shooters. Indian shooters have made a strong start to the year, winning eight medals - including four gold - in Buenos Aires, followed by seven in Lima.
