Pittsburgh in for a calm, but humid weather day on Sunday
We finally get a break from the rain and storms today. You'd think we'd also get a break from humidity and heat as well but that isn't going to be the case. Today will be hotter than yesterday with highs near 88 degrees.

Yesterday's high was 86°. Humidity levels will also remain in the high range with dewpoints in the upper 60s all day long. Temperatures do finally dip below 70 degrees this morning; the first time we've done that since last Saturday.

As we head through the day, there are a couple of things to talk about. First off, if you're reading this before 10 a.m., there is likely some fairly dense fog out there in spots, with the fog being denser to the north of Pittsburgh, where skies were clear all night. Places south of I-70 probably won't see too much fog due to cloudy skies not allowing sufficient cooling.
The other issue is the potential for high ozone levels making their way to the surface. Ozone develops due to a chemical process in the mid-levels due to greenhouse gases and energy from the sun's rays. Most development happens in the afternoon. At least for now, readings remain low, but that may change this afternoon.

We will monitor things there, but at least this morning, I am not seeing anything too concerning.
Looking ahead, there seems to be some uncertainty about Monday when it comes to rain and storm chances. As of this morning, the Storm Prediction Center has us painted in as a marginal level one out of five risk of severe weather on Monday. They do not have us having a severe weather risk on Tuesday.

I think the data this morning is heavily leaning towards the higher risk of severe weather happening on Tuesday. There is a chance for strong storms as a warm front lifts through late Monday into Tuesday, but this storm chance happens right at midnight. Most storm activity should come on Tuesday. Similar to what we have seen over the past couple of days, strong winds and flooding due to downpours are the main concern.
Tuesday is when relief really arrives as a cold front sweeps through, taking the excess moisture with it.
Temperatures at that time will return to near normal for this time of the year, with highs hitting the mid-80s for the rest of the week, with morning lows in the mid to low 60s.

Tropical Storm Barry Expected to Bring Heavy Rain to Mexico
Tropical Storm Barry formed on Sunday, the second named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season. The storm was expected to bring heavy rains to the eastern coast of Mexico in the next few days, according to the National Hurricane Center. A tropical storm warning was in effect for the Gulf Coast of Mexico from Boca de Catan southward to Tecolutla. The storm was expected to bring three to six inches of rain, with potentially up to 10 inches in some isolated locations, through Monday. Forecasters warned the rain could produce life-threatening mudslides. The storm is expected to make landfall sometime late on Sunday or early on Monday local time, forecasters said. The Atlantic hurricane season started on June 1 and runs through Nov. 30. It has had a slow start, with only two storms, both at the end of June. In late May, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the parent agency of the National Weather Service, predicted that this would be an above-average season, with 13 to 19 named storms. Last year, there were 18 named storms, 11 of which became hurricanes. Five of those hurricanes became what the Hurricane Center calls 'major,' or Category 3, 4 or 5 on the Saffir–Simpson scale. The Eastern Pacific, where hurricane season began on May 15, has been off to a busy start. Storms that form off the west coast of North America typically get started before their counterparts in the Atlantic, and there have been five already this year: Alvin, Barbara, Cosme, Dalila and Erick, which hit Mexico's West Coast this month as a strong Category 3 hurricane. 4 tornadoes confirmed near Minneapolis after storms move through region
Tornado sirens woke up Minnesota residents on June 29 after several small tornadoes were spotted south of Minneapolis. Early Sunday morning, from 12:15-12:45 a.m. local time, four tornadoes were spotted in Carver County, Minnesota, located southwest of Minneapolis, Mike Griesinger, a lead forecaster with the National Weather Service Twin Cities office, told USA TODAY. The tornadoes were short-lived, with winds of 80 to 90 mph. One structure was damaged, but the storms were weak and mainly caused damage to trees, Griesinger said. Another afternoon of storms is expected today, however these will likely be more isolated-scattered compared to last night's line. The strongest storms could contain large hail & damaging winds. But the storms could be pushed to Wisconsin by a weak front. The confirmed tornadoes in Minnesota on Sunday come on the heels of a heat wave that broke daily record high temperatures across the Midwest and eastern part of the U.S. On Saturday, June 28, "all severe hazards" were possible across southern Minnesota and eastern South Dakota as scattered thunderstorms moved over the region, according to the Storm Prediction Center. The Minnesota tornadoes did not cause extensive property damage, but Griesinger said this is a great reminder of why people should have multiple forms of warning about incoming tornadoes, even at night. While tornado alarms did sound throughout the county, there are other ways to be informed about severe weather. Minneapolis residents can sign up for Smart911 alerts to receive notifications about severe weather via the following methods, according to the City of Minneapolis' website. Floods Strike West Virginia 2 Weeks After Deadly Storms
For the second time in 12 days, flooding hit the town of Wheeling, West Virginia. Strong storms hit the area on Thursday, dumping flooding rains on the town. Just two weeks ago, the same town was hit with deadly storms, which caused major flooding problems after 4 inches of rain fell in less than an hour.
