Ministry of Labor: Suspension of Foreign Labor Recruitment Does Not Include Domestic Workers - Jordan News

On Thursday, the Ministry of Labor confirmed that the suspension of recruiting non-Jordanian labor does not include the recruitment of domestic workers. اضافة اعلان The Ministry's spokesperson, Mohammad Al-Ziyoud, stated that domestic workers have a special system, and their recruitment is carried out through recruitment offices licensed by the Ministry of Labor. The Ministry announced the suspension of recruiting non-Jordanian labor starting Thursday, clarifying that it 'will not reopen the recruitment window' again except after conducting studies. Al-Ziyoud explained that the decision to suspend recruitment came after it had been open for three months to meet the needs of employers in several economic sectors for non-Jordanian labor. He emphasized that the Ministry will only reopen recruitment after a thorough and comprehensive study of the labor market. Al-Ziyoud affirmed that the Ministry will continue its inspection campaigns, carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and the Public Security Directorate across all governorates of the Kingdom, to control illegal non-Jordanian labor and take legal actions against employers who hire such labor. He added that the inspection campaigns also aim to verify that the non-Jordanian labor recruited by private sector establishments in various sectors is actually working there, stressing that strict measures will be taken against establishments found to have non-working foreign labor. These measures include suspending recruitment and use of labor for the violating establishment and not renewing work permits issued in its name.
