Grocery store fined $3,700 for selling alcohol to minors after underage crash
A local grocery store in Mooresville has been fined $3,700 for selling alcohol to minors, following an incident where an underage girl crashed her SUV with a blood alcohol level of 0.14.
The Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) reported that the minors purchased Twisted Teas from Lowes Foods in Mooresville. The crash occurred on State Park Road in Troutman, involving the underage girl and her friends who had been drinking.

The ABC Commission released black and white photos of the drinks involved in the incident. The report also indicated that the minors consumed alcohol at the Beer Den inside the grocery store.
The grocery store has paid the fine, and the incident highlights ongoing concerns about underage drinking and alcohol sales compliance.
Statement from Lowes Foods: 'After the incident, we took appropriate disciplinary action with our host (employee) and we did a refresh of training with our team at that store.'

One thing killing the public right now is that it doesn't have access to the photos and videos being shown to the jury in the federal trial against Sean 'Diddy' Combs. However, as evidence is being displayed in court, the Department of Justice has been leaking it on their own for us to see. The photos stem from two main categories: the day of Combs' arrest and Cassie Ventura's claims of physical abuse. Combs was arrested at a hotel in Manhattan back in September of 2024 on sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges. The claims first came from Ventura, who accused him of sexual assault and physical assault in a lawsuit. She then took the stand last week to testify on some of the injuries she said she sustained at the hands of Combs. The jury saw the bruises for themselves as well as the drugs and tons of baby oil authorities say they found after raiding his apartment. These 22 images may be disturbing to some viewers so scroll with caution: It appears the Feds found lubricant and pills inside the rapper's nightstand drawer. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration identified pink powder as a pink-dyed cocaine, often referred to as 'tusi.' More pills including a bottle labeled 'amphetamine' along with Ale & Wang candy, which are vegan coconut ginger candies, according to the website. A bottle of clonazepam was found, typically used to treat seizures and panic disorder, according to the National Institute of Health. The alias 'Frank Black' is also the named that was used to book hotel rooms for 'Freak-offs,' per Cassie Ventura's testimony. The variety of pills were found on a table. It appears this is where the authorities found Combs' stash of medication. Inside this pouch is a wad of $100 bills and a small bottle of Visine. These Ziploc bags contain bottles of Johnson & Johnson's baby oil. Authorities took images of his clothing and belongings. It's unclear if they searched these items for evidence. Combs kept this pouch hanging on his bed frame. A mysterious bag sits in the corner of the room. It's unclear what was inside. Some witnesses previously testified that Combs carried a small Louis Vuitton bag with money and drugs. On the side of the bed sat Combs' glasses and phone charging station. More Johnson & Johnson's bottles were found it what appears to be a bathtub or sink. Combs' toiletries are scattered about, including bath salts and dental care. What appears to be a digital tablet was also recovered from Combs' hotel. Ventura previously accused Combs of giving her a 'fat lip' after she was dragged and beaten at the Intercontinental Hotel in 2018. A purple bruise is seen on Ventura's hip as well as another bruise on her shoulder. Another bruise is captured on Ventura's upper thigh. Ventura testified that she would be kicked and punched in the face by Combs. Here, it looks like the previous injury beginning to heal. Ventura said she'd wear sunglasses to cover her eye injuries she sustained from Combs. Tributes pour in for Italian scientist murdered, dismembered in Colombia
April 9 (UPI) -- Tributes trickled in from around the world to mourn the death of a scientist after parts of his dismembered body were found in Colombia. Alessandro Coatti, 42, was a London-based molecular biologist who worked at the Royal Society of Biology and was doing research while traveling in South America after eight years working in London as science policy officer before his promotion to senior science policy officer. "He was a passionate and dedicated scientist, leading RSB animal science work, writing numerous submissions, organizing events and giving evidence in the House of Commons," the Royal Society of Biology wrote in a statement. Parts of his dismembered body were found in a suitcase dumped in a stream on the outskirts of the Caribbean coast city of Santa Marta, a gateway to some of the most popular tourist destinations in Colombia. "Ale was funny, warm, intelligent, loved by everyone he worked with and will be deeply missed by all who knew and worked with him." According to reports, Coatti, an Italian national, inquired with a hotel worker about visiting the village of Minca and was conducting research on local animal species. He left the RSB at the end of last year to do volunteer work in Ecuador and travel South America. "This crime will not go unpunished," Carlos Pinedo Cuello, the mayor of Santa Marta, said on social media as he issued a reward for information leading to the capture of a suspect. "The criminals must know that crime has no place in Santa Marta," he said. "We will pursue them until they are brought to justice."

Somerset man indicted on over 45 sex crime charges including rape, sodomy
SOMERSET, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Somerset man is being held in jail on nearly $1 million in cash bonds after being indicted on more than 45 sex crimes. According to the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office, Jesus Chavez, 32, was initially charged in October 2024. Detectives said that on Oct. 20, 2024, an investigation was launched that ended with Chavez facing one count of second-degree rape and third-degree sodomy.
