Nebraska makes strong impression on key tight end target
Nebraska football made a strong impression on class of 2026 three-star tight end Luke Sorensen over the weekend. He expressed his excitement (subscription required) with the program to On3's Chad Simmons on Sunday.
Sorensen is the 35th overall tight end in the 2026 class and the 60th overall player in his class from the state of California, according to the On3 recruiting rankings.
He has a busy visit schedule ahead, as he is scheduled to visit the Penn State Nittany Lions on June 13 and is expected to announce his commitment on June 20. In the meantime, he was very impressed with how things went down in Lincoln, as he was part of one of the biggest visit weekends of the summer.
"I had an awesome time, and it will be hard to top,' Sorensen said.
The tight end caught 15 passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns last season for Servite High School in California, per statistics from Maxpreps.com. Sorensen is one of Nebraska's top tight end targets in this class. Being able to land him would immediately strengthen the tight end position and give the program additional depth.
Things appear to be trending in the right direction as he received a Crystal Ball prediction to the Huskers from Steve Wiltfong. It may prove to be a bit of a challenge with the Nittany Lions getting the final visit. However, there is no doubt Nebraska put their best foot forward here.

Projected $758K Star Recruit Spurns Oklahoma After Teasing Commitment Decision

Projected $758K Star Recruit Spurns Oklahoma After Teasing Commitment Decision originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Class of 2026 five-star offensive tackle and Oklahoma target Felix Ojo is nearing a decision amid a busy official visit schedule. Advertisement Ojo (6-foot-7, 275 pounds) plays for Lake Ridge High School in Mansfield, Texas. He is rated as the No. 3 offensive tackle, the No. 1 player in the state, and the No. 6 overall recruit (On3 industry). Ojo, who holds an On3 NIL valuation of $758,000, announced in February his top eight schools: Oklahoma, Texas, Georgia, Florida, Ole Miss, Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame. Ojo loaded his summer with visits, also including trips outside of his top schools. Notre Dame unofficially hosted Ojo on April 10 before he took official trips to Ole Miss (April 18), Texas Tech (April 25), Colorado (May 2), Florida (May 16) and Ohio State (May 30). Advertisement Additionally, Michigan received an official visit on June 6 with Texas (June 13) and Oklahoma (June 20) slated to cap off Ojo's summer schedule. The Oklahoma visit has been cancelled, as Ojo revealed that his decision is approaching sooner than previously expected. 'Not needed," Ojo said via On3's Hayes Fawcett. "Nearing my decision a lot sooner than later." It's unclear if Ojo's decision has closed the door for Oklahoma in his recruitment, but the Sooners would have likely benefited from getting the highly coveted recruit on campus. Advertisement Texas stands, for now, as the last program to get an official visit from Ojo this summer. Head coach Steve Sarkisian's Longhorns signed the nation's top class in the 2025 cycle and have been linked to the in-state recruit for some time. Ojo previously named the SEC powerhouse as his leader in May, and he is projected to ultimately land at Texas, according to recruiting experts from On3, 247Sports and Rivals. The No. 1 Linebacker Takes Major Career Decision This Week

The No. 1 Linebacker Takes Major Career Decision This Week originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Tyler Atkinson, the No. 1 linebacker in On3's Industry Rankings for the Class of 2026, hasn't revealed his commitment yet, and coaches want to recruit him. Advertisement Kirby Smart and his staff will have their first true crack at selling 'Dawg Nation' in person this weekend. Atkinson announced that he will officially visit Athens. He feels a close connection with the program. 'It feels like I grew up at UGA because of all the camps and visits I've been to over the years since I was younger,' he said to Hayes Fawcett of On3. As a junior at Grayson High, Atkinson exploded for 166 tackles, 32 tackles-for-loss and 13 sacks, a forced fumble and an interception. Georgia Bulldogs head football coach Kirby Smart© Dale Zanine-Imagn Images Atkinson just made an official visit to Oregon, which was every bit as exceptional as he imagined it would be. Advertisement 'Oregon was everything I imagined it would be,' Atkinson told On3's Steve Wiltfong after the trip. 'It was just like the coaches had described. Coach Lanning and the entire staff showed me exactly how much they wanted me to be a part of their program and team … The way Oregon embraced and supported my personal brand, 'AtkNup', is next level. They definitely have a plan!' The Georgia Bulldogs lead On3's predictions with a 34.1% chance of landing him. Based on Atkinson's comments, it could very well become the program he joins. 'It's going to be good to get an OV there and talk to the coaches,' Atkinson said. 'I mean, just learn more and talk to them and go from there.' Advertisement 'It's just about me going there and just seeing it again and just being around the coaches and just seeing the energy and everything,' Atkinson said. 'Then, what's next is like whatever happens, happens.' This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 11, 2025, where it first appeared.
