Palike to spend Rs 3 crore to feed stray dogs chicken, rice

BENGALURU: Every dog has its day. Certainly, at least, in Bengaluru. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike is set to start first-of-its kind initiative in the country in terms of dealing with stray dogs. The palike will feed around 4,000 stray dogs once a day and supply chicken and rice to avoid aggression in animals.
The municipality has invited tenders will be spending Rs 2.88 crore annually for the initiative and claims to control aggression due to lack of food and arrest scavenging among such dogs and control conflict. According to the Special Commissioner for the BBMP Animal Husbandry Department, Suralkar Vikas Kishor, this initiative of 'Feeding Service to Community Dogs' by BBMP is the first in India by any municipality. Food will be supplied to 500 street dogs at selected spots in each zone. The place will be cleaned after the feeding is done.
'The initiative is a part of a larger goal of the elimination of rabies by 2030 in India. By feeding one time to community dogs, the BBMP aims at reducing the territorial aggression and fights among community dogs,' he said.
At one designated point, reusable plates will be placed and provision will be made to feed at least five dogs. The service provider must clean the plates every day after the feeding, upload GPS location photo with time stamp after the the feeding on the VVS application or any other mobile application approved by BBMP and the service provider must maintain the record for feeding number of dogs fed every day, said a senior official from BBMP Animal Husbandry Department.
The official also stated that there are over 2.5 lakh stray dogs in the BBMP limits and the dogs manage food by scavenging. Many compassion groups and residents are feeding dogs, however, not all dogs get the feed and hence BBMP has come up with the initiative, said Kishor.

'Bengaluru Dirty & Unsafe, Here Only For...': Redditor Who Moved From Noida Sparks Debate

Last Updated: A 26-year-old from Noida shared his disappointing experience of living in Bengaluru on Reddit, criticising high costs, poor services, inauthentic culture, and safety issues Bengaluru might be the dream city for many tech aspirants, but for a 26-year-old who moved there from Noida, the reality has turned out to be a daily disappointment. In a detailed post now gaining traction on Reddit, the young professional didn't hold back his frustrations after spending a year in the so-called Silicon Valley. From spiraling costs and poor public services to what he called an 'extremely fake and shallow" lifestyle, his experience sharply contrasts with the image the city often enjoys in popular imagination. 'I've lived in Noida for 26 years," he began, adding that ever since he moved to Bengaluru for work, he felt like going back every single day but he can't 'because of the pay". The man said he initially arrived with high hopes, expecting the energy and opportunities the city is known for. But instead, he encountered a culture he found inauthentic. 'People only care about reel life and not real life. Everything is a facade here. Everybody wants to show off here. People buy expensive fancy dogs to show off, expensive fancy clothes to show off, cars, go to overpriced shit restaurants etc," he wrote. Transport added another layer of frustration. He described catching an auto as a miracle and claimed drivers often ask Rs 300 for barely 2 kilometres. Bengaluru, according to him, is a place where 'cab is cheaper than an auto". The man also raised concerns over the city's cleanliness, describing garbage piles every few hundred meters and a constant foul smell in many neighbourhoods. While some older areas were cleaner, he pointed out that most offices, and people, are now located in parts of the city where sanitation seems neglected. On the matter of safety, he challenged the assumption that Bengaluru is among India's safer metros. 'People hate on Delhi saying everybody is creepy there, people stare in Delhi. It's the same in blr lol. I would say people are creepier here lmao. Bangalore is not safer in any way. Those who say bangalore is safe are coping hard," he wrote, adding that he's had several uncomfortable interactions that made him feel unsafe. The traffic, too, lived up to its dreadful reputation. 'The roads and traffic lol. I won't even start because you guys must've already heard how bad it is, and it's even worse in reality," he said. There was one aspect of Bengaluru the man did appreciate – the weather. 'The only good thing about BLR is the weather. Agreed, it is amazing! I love it, it's perfect," he wrote in the post. But even that, he felt, wasn't enough to justify long-term living. 'You can come here live for a couple of years but beyond that I doubt you would be happy," he said. The Reddit post has drawn a wide range of responses. Some users echoed his sentiments, sharing similar grievances about the city's infrastructure, cost of living, and transport issues. Others came to Bengaluru's defence, pointing to its job market, cosmopolitan vibe, and weather as unmatched in the country. Many agreed on one point: no city is perfect, and personal experience often depends on perspective. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Collector urges volunteers to adopt families under P4 scheme

Paderu (ASR District): Alluri Sitarama Raju district collector AS Dinesh Kumar has called upon volunteers and mentors to come forward and adopt 'Bangaru Kutumbalu' (Golden Families) under the prestigious P4 (Public, Private, People Partnership) programme. Addressing a media conference at the District Collectorate on Monday, the collector said the innovative P4 scheme was launched in March by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu with the goal of transforming lives through collective partnerships. A detailed survey was conducted from March 9 to 25 to identify underprivileged families eligible for support. The collector said that out of 352 village and ward secretariats in the district, a survey was completed in 144, identifying 92,683 Bangaru families with a total population of 3,13,041 members. He appealed to donors and citizens to adopt these families to support their social and economic development. He clarified that financial aid is not mandatory for mentors, and simply guiding and mentoring the families would be sufficient. The primary goal of the P4 scheme is to uplift families from poverty to prosperity, he stressed. He also mentioned that details of eligible Bangaru families have been uploaded online, making it possible for anyone across the country to adopt a family through the portal. The district administration will always be available to assist the mentors throughout their journey. Setting an example, the Collector himself adopted a farm labourer's family from Ainada village in Paderu mandal. Joint Collector Dr MJ Abhishek Gowda also adopted a family from Guthulaputtu village. Collector AS Dinesh Kumar also announced that the 'Aakanksha Hot' programme will be conducted from August 2 to 25 as part of the Sampoornta Abhiyaan Samman Samaroh initiative. He expressed happiness over the district being recognised as an Aspirational District under the NITI Aayog framework. He said that in the Rampachodavaram division, Gangavaram, Maredumilli, and Mylavaram blocks have been identified as aspirational blocks. The programme will focus on six key areas Health & Nutrition, Agriculture, Education, Model School Development, and Social Development. The collector informed that the district has received an incentive of Rs 10 crore under NITI Aayog's support. Branding coffee and other horticulture crops under the label 'Made in Araku' has opened up better income opportunities for tribal farmers, he noted. TRICOR Collector Sahith, Deputy Collector MS Lokeswara Rao, CPO PVL Prasad, and other officials were present at the media interaction.
