Cristiano Ronaldo's museum came to Hong Kong because it is ‘door to Asia', spokesman says
Cristiano Ronaldo chose Hong Kong as the location for his latest CR7 Life Museum because of his huge fan base in China, his representatives said on Thursday.

The Portuguese football star will also visit the city at some point when his museum is up and running in the K11 Musea shopping centre in Tsim Sha Tsui, they said. It is scheduled to open on July 7.
According to Luis Parafita, one of the 40-year-old's representatives, Hong Kong was a 'natural' choice.
'This is the door to Asia. We have a huge fan base here,' he said. 'The connection that Cristiano already has with China and Asia is huge.
'Every year, he comes to this region of the world, so this was a natural selection, this [place] was very natural for us to choose.'

Parafita said there were requests 'from all over the world' to host the museum, after the three-month test two years ago of a small museum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo plays for Al-Nassr.
'We understood that the fans expected much more, and now we have created here the first one that will travel to other places,' he said.

According to the BBC, Ronaldo is close to agreeing to a new contract with Saudi club Al-Nassr, which he has played for since January 2023. Ronaldo posted on social media last month, saying that 'this chapter is over' following Al-Nassr's defeat by Al-Fateh to finish third in the Saudi Pro League. His contract with the club is due to expire at the end of June. Al-Nassr will be one of four Saudi Arabian teams playing in Hong Kong between August 19 and 23 for the Saudi Super Cup, a pre-season tournament of the Saudi Pro League. Second museum The museum, to be located in the K11 Musea shopping mall in Tsim Sha Tsui, will cover an area of 12,000 square feet and feature trophies from Ronaldo's football career, as well as exhibits from his life. It is the second instalment of the CR7 Museum, after the first one opened in 2013 in Ronaldo's birthplace, Funchal, Portugal. Unlike its Portuguese precursor, the Hong Kong museum is set to run for only a year. Organisers expect the Hong Kong museum will attract more than two million visitors. Having scored more than 900 career goals for his clubs and Portugal, Ronaldo is widely considered one of the greatest football players in history.

Hong Kong repositions venues in a bid to boost development of performing arts
Sha Tin Town Hall will be reserved for Cantonese Opera while the Hong Kong Coliseum will be positioned as a concert venue, the government said on Thursday. The reform of the hiring policy of the city's performance venues is part of a wider effort to promote the mega-event development of the performing arts in Hong Kong, following the official opening of Kai Tak Stadium in March. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department said the latest move could provide more performance slots for use by different art groups and establish clearer venue identities. Under the reform, the 1,372-seat auditorium in Sha Tin Town Hall will be reserved for Cantonese opera, the first world-class intangible cultural heritage in Hong Kong. Professional troupes fulfilling certain criteria could make special bookings throughout the year for Cantonese opera or opera-excerpt performances to promote high-quality productions and the inheritance of the cultural heritage, the department added.
