This partnership falls within the framework of the Media Innovation Lab initiative, which Media City is preparing to launch with the aim of empowering local talent, providing training and skills development programs, supporting startups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and exploring collaboration in research and development (R&D).
Microsoft Qatar will also organize joint events to address innovation challenges and accelerate the growth of the creative economy in Qatar.
Under the agreement, Microsoft Qatar will support the development of Media City's unified digital platform and explore new opportunities to empower local media companies through joint marketing campaigns, public relations activities, and specialized events.
In this context, CEO of Qatar Media City Eng. Jassim Mohammed Al Khoori, highlighted the importance of this partnership, which reflects deep belief in the role of technology in shaping the future of media.
He emphasized the Media City's commitment to empowering the next generation of talent and fostering an environment of innovation and entrepreneurship in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
For her part, General Manager of Microsoft Qatar Lana Khalaf, expressed her pleasure in working with Qatar Media City to develop an advanced media ecosystem, focusing on building digital capabilities and supporting startups to drive the creative economy.
As the official partner of the Qatar Economic Forum, Qatar Media City continues to build international partnerships that contribute to accelerating growth in the media and technology sectors.

Second QLC Young Leaders Summer Camp 2025 concludes
QNA Doha The Qatar Leadership Centre (QLC) has concluded the second edition of its 'Young Leaders – Summer Camp 2025' programme, held in collaboration with the American University of Beirut (AUB). This initiative forms part of the Centre's broader efforts to empower high school students in Qatar by equipping them with leadership skills and knowledge to support their future ambitions. The 15-day programme brought together 60 male and female students from various public and private schools across the country. Participants were selected through a competitive three-stage admission process involving online applications, assessments, and personal interviews, ensuring the selection of a highly capable group for a distinctive educational experience. The programme featured a range of interactive workshops, training sessions, and group activities designed to foster leadership qualities, a spirit of community service, and personal financial management, all within a dynamic learning environment focused on experiential education and hands-on engagement. Among the highlights were open discussion sessions with Qatar Leadership Centre alumni, who shared personal experiences and leadership journeys. These exchanges offered students valuable real-life insights and opportunities to ask questions, helping to broaden their understanding of leadership and its societal impact. Students also benefited from exposure to a select group of expert trainers, facilitators, and motivational speakers, enhancing both their theoretical and practical grasp of effective leadership. Qatar's solar energy projects: Green energy in the heart of desert
QNA Doha Amid the numerous global challenges related to climate change, exploring new sources of clean and enduring energy is the holy grail of all nations. In this direction, the State of Qatar has pursued an ambitious strategy in the path toward new and renewable energies, mostly solar energy as an easy-to-access natural source. The nation has embarked on carrying out behemoth projects, thereby reflecting its national orientation toward a green economy to reduce reliance on biofuel, an approach that reflects concrete steps toward achieving the environmental and energy objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030. Qatar had set targets under the Second National Development Strategy (2018-2022) and the National Environment and Climate Change Strategy (2021-2030), including producing 20 percent of electricity from renewable sources by 2030, slashing greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent, and investing in solar energy storage research and grid integration projects. One of Qatar's flagship renewable energy projects is the Al Kharsaah solar power plant west of Doha. With a production capacity of 800 megawatts across 10 square kilometers and equipped with more than 1.8 million solar panels, the plant supplies electricity to roughly 60,000 homes. It literally covers up to 10 percent of the nation's electricity needs at peak times and delivers power at a highly competitive rate. The project is a major step in cutting carbon emissions, with a projected reduction of 26 million tonnes of CO2. Having been commissioned last April, the Ras Laffan and Mesaieed solar power plants entered the production phase, adding a combined electricity genration capacity of 875 megawatts, following the inauguration of the 800-megawatt Al Kharsaah plant in 2022. Data released by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) shows that more than 90 percent of new renewable energy sources worldwide generate electricity at a cost lower than the cheapest fossil fuel alternatives, added Guterres. He further emphasized that this is not merely a shift in impact, it is a shift in possibility, and in efforts to repair the relationship with the climate. Overall, the rapid growth in the utility of clean energy globally will remain the optimal choice, as electricity generation from solar energy has jumped to advanced stages. Solar energy investments in Qatar have epitomized an integrated and strategic orientation for the economic transition and environmental commitment.
