Claiming deductions like HRA or medical insurance without valid proof can stop your refund. If the tax office doubts your claim, they'll hold your refund and may ask for documents.
Wrong Deduction Claims
If the details in your tax return don't match your Annual Information Statement (AIS) or Form 26AS, your refund can be delayed until you fix the difference.
Mismatch in ITR and AIS Data
A simple mistake in your bank account number or IFSC code can stop your refund. Your account must also be pre-validated and linked on the I-T portal.
Incorrect Bank Details
If your bank account name does not match your PAN name — for example, in joint accounts or if there's a spelling mistake — your refund may get stuck.
Bank Account–PAN Mismatch
Sometimes, the refund is issued but doesn't reach you due to an inactive account, a changed IFSC code or incomplete KYC. In such cases, you need to raise a refund reissue request.
Refund Issued but Not Credited
If you owe tax from previous years, the department can adjust it against your refund. You'll get an email or SMS about this. Sometimes the full refund is used to clear dues.
Tax Adjusted Against Dues
If your return is selected for scrutiny or detailed checking, your refund will be kept on hold until the process is finished, which can take extra time.

Durand Cup 2025: Mohammedan SC And Diamond Harbour FC In 'Kolkata Derby'

Last Updated: Mohammedan Sporting Club and Diamond Harbour FC kick-off their 134th Edition Durand Cup 2025 campaign with a Group B clash. On paper it is a Kolkata derby as Indian Super League (ISL) side Mohammedan Sporting Club take on I-League 2 champions Diamond Harbour FC in the 134th edition of the Durand Cup at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (VYBK) on Monday. It should be a mismatch on paper again, a team from the first division of the country against a side climbing the ranks steadily. But the reality is far from it. West Bengal's Diamond Harbour FC was established in 2022 by All India Trinamool Congress National General Secretary and the Member of Parliament of Diamond Harbour, Abhishek Banerjee. Kibu Vicuna, who has previously helmed Mohun Bagan and Kerala Blasters, was appointed as the club's first head coach and still is at the helm. In 2025, DHFC are making their debut in the Durand Cup after winning back-to-back promotions in I-League 3 and 2 to reach I-League. Diamond Harbour have come prepared for their first bow in the oldest tournament in Asia. Statement signings like striker Luka Majcen of Punjab FC alongside players with ISL experience – like Jobby Justin, Melroy Assisi, Wungngayam Muirang, Mirshad Michu and Halicharan Narzary. Despite having established names in their ranks have seen their stature diminish in the last few years, despite winning the I-League and gaining promotion to the ISL. Financial mismanagement, absence of investors and a general lack of funds have seen multiple players leave the side over the summer. FIFA and AIFF transfer bans have rightfully ensued. As per local media reports, last season's club captain Samad Ali Mallick was forced to leave the side in order to earn a living. Mohammedan still have Amarjit Singh Kiyam, Gaurav Bora, Padam Chhetri and Abhishek Halder along with young starlets like Ashley Alban Koli and Makan Winkle Chote but will play the tournament with a blend of reserve squad players, talented Bengal-based footballers, and promising youth prospects. Head coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo, who had taken over the reigns mid-way through last season will hope that the margin of defeat will not mean ousting from the Durand Cup after the first game itself. Goal-difference and margin of victories may come into play in a group that includes last year's runners up and 17 times champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant along with Border Security Force FT. A derby on paper but a contest that may see change of guard in Kolkata football. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Is this wise to use credit card for rental payment? Key points explained

It is no brainer that rental payment is a recurring expense. So, it is wise to use your credit card for this expense. Right? Typically, any payment made through a card could be seen as the money on credit. Therefore, one may avoid it as much as one can. But as they say that the 'devil is in the details'. Here, we try to deconstruct the same. What if you want to earn some rewards while making the payment of rent? And when you repay the credit card bill well in time, it allows you to make use of a 45-day interest free period. However, there could be additional charges as well. So, if you are also contemplating paying rent with a credit card, keep in mind these five points. I. Charges: Most card issuers allow rent to be paid through credit card by levy of a service charge which could range between 1 to 2.5 percent. This means if you are paying a rent of ₹ 50,000, there could be an additional cost in the range of ₹ 500 to ₹ 1,250. II. Quasi cash: Some card issuers consider rental payment as a quasi cash transaction, thus rendering it ineligible for reward points. So, it is recommended to check the terms and conditions of the card-issuing bank. III. Raising your credit utilisation: Payment of rent through card leads to higher credit utilisation, thus impacting your credit score for the time being. Therefore, if you have several other expenses lined up during a month, it may be better to refrain from using a credit card for making payment of rent. IV. Rent receipts: Platforms that you are using to make the payment of rent could also provide the receipts that could be used for claiming HRA exemption. However, the convenience fee levied on it is not reflected in the rent for obvious reasons. V. Flexibility: All in all, using a credit card may be a good option to pay rent with flexibility of 45-day interest free period and cash rewards or cashback (based on the card you use). However, if you do not stand to get any of those, you may want to reconsider it for payment of rent. Disclaimer: Mint has a tie-up with fintechs for providing credit, you will need to share your information if you apply. These tie-ups do not influence our editorial content. This article only intends to educate and spread awareness about credit needs like loans, credit cards and credit score.
