Powys school pupils help raise thousands for charity

Llanfair Caereinion school pupils took part in an annual fundraiser before the end of term which has raised more than £30,000 over the last 10 years.
Holding its annual Live in Colour Day (Byw mewn Lliw) on June 27, Ysgol Bro Caereinion confirmed that just over a month later, their fundraising efforts have totalled £2,500.
The school chose to raise money for the DPJ Foundation, Dementia Matters Powys, and Wales Air Ambulance, with its 2025 race day, helping to add to the £39,000 raised for various charities as a school since 2015.
A spokesperson for the school called the 2025 race day a 'fantastic day', recognising the hard work from all corners of the school, from sixth formers and staff to friends of Ysgol Bro Caereinion, and the pupils themselves.
A spokesperson for Ysgol Bro Caereinion said: 'Our 2025 Byw mewn Lliw was held on Friday, June 27 and what a fantastic day it was.
'A day to be proud and to appreciate everything we have here at Bro Caereinion. From the hardworking sixth formers and staff, the kind Friends of the School, and of course, our amazing pupils, everyone had a smile on their face throughout the race.
"There was huge excitement on the day, with everyone dressed colourfully, with face paint and glitter everywhere.
'There was fierce competition between the pupils (and the staff), but the most important thing was seeing everyone having fun. Remember too that the schools in our cluster also joined in on the fun and we thank them for their support.
'As a school and on behalf of the cluster schools, we would like to thank the pupils, staff, parents, and everyone for supporting us. This year, after discussions among the cluster pupils, the charities we are raising money for are the DPJ Foundation, Dementia Matters Powys, and Wales Air Ambulance.
'The amount raised is incredible, currently at over £2,500 this year, with still time to donate if you'd like to do so.
'Since 2015, we as a school, and now as a cluster, have raised over £39,000, which is amazing.
"The amount we manage to raise every year is a fantastic reflection of how determined our pupils are and also how supportive their parents and the local community are, so thank you very much to everyone for your support.'
