Harry Potter and Doctor Who star Simon Fisher-Becker dies aged 63
Actor Simon Fisher-Becker has died aged 63.
Best known for his roles in Doctor Who and Harry Potter, his agent Kim Barry of Jaffrey Management confirmed the star's passing.
Fisher-Becker had appeared in many acclaimed films and series, including the BBC show Puppy Love, when he played Tony Fazackerley alongside Joanna Scanlan.
Fans will also recognise the actor as the ghost of the Fat Friar in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone alongside playing Dorium Maldovar in Doctor Who.
Sharing a tribute to Fisher-Becker, Barry told the Metro: "Today I lost not only a client in Simon Fisher-Becker, but a close personal friend of 15 years standing.
"I shall never forget the phone call I made to him when he was offered the part of Dorium Moldovar in BBC's Dr Who.
"Simon was also a writer, a raconteur and a great public speaker. He helped me out enormously and was kind, gracious and interested in everyone.
"My condolences go to his husband Tony, his brother, nieces and nephews and his legion of fans."
On Facebook, Fisher-Becker's husband, Tony, shared the news with the actor's fans: "Hello everyone. This is Tony, Simon's husband.

Reacting to the sad news of Fisher-Becker's passing, one fan wrote on X: "'His stage routine was one of the funniest things I've heard in ages. A dear man who valued his audiences. RIP Simon, shine on."

This crime thriller starring Daniel Craig and Tom Hardy just arrived on Paramount Plus — and it's a must-watch
Looking through all the new shows and movies on Paramount Plus this month, a name jumped out at me: "Layer Cake." Now, that title might not be familiar to you. The 2004 crime thriller made a whopping $11.8 million at the box office. But it features a lot of names you're probably familiar with. It stars Daniel Craig, pre-James Bond, as a cocaine dealer who hates violence and just wants out of the game. One of his associates? A young Tom Hardy. There's also Michael Gambon, who you probably know best as Albus Dumbledore from the third through eighth "Harry Potter" films, but in this movie is a ruthless crime lord. And it's all directed by Matthew Vaughn, doing his best Guy Ritchie impression before he'd go on to make "Kick-Ass" and "Kingsman: The Secret Service." So if you're looking for something to watch after the epic "MobLand" finale or just need a great movie to watch this weekend, here's why you need to check out "Layer Cake on Paramount Plus. As I already mentioned, "Layer Cake" stars Daniel Craig as XXXX, a successful cocaine dealer who wants out of the coke business and to retire to a quite life. There's just one problem: his boss. XXXX works for Jimmy Price (Kenneth Cranham), who needs some things done before our lead can enjoy some peace and quiet. But his performance in "Layer Cake" might be my favorite of them all. It's a perfect blend of wit and being cool under pressure. In many ways, it's similar to the performance he'd later give in 2006 in "Casino Royale." His performance in "Layer Cake" is sometimes even cited as why he was cast as James Bond in 2005, though others say EON Productions had their eyes on Craig as early as 1996. Still, the performance in "Layer Cake" is slightly more grounded than the one Craig gives in his first Bond movie, and not quite as bleak as the one he gives in "Quantum of Solace." It lacks the cockiness of Bond, while still making sure the audience knows Craig is the smartest man in the room. Yes, others in this movie are well worth watching — Gambon is particularly excellent, and Hardy, Sienna Miller, Colm Meany and George Harris are plenty good — but it's still Craig who steals the movie from the beginning and never lets go. "Layer Cake" is also, simply put, a great crime thriller. If you like Guy Ritchie movies or Matthew Vaughn's other work, then you'll easily find yourself enjoying it. And it has a killer soundtrack that's almost worth the price of admission on its own. There's no reason not to check it out now that it's available to stream on Paramount Plus. BBC cancels Nadiya Hussain's cooking show
Nadiya Hussain's cooking show has not been renewed by the BBC. The 40-year-old TV chef - who first found fame on 'The Great British Bake Off' back in 2015 - has taken to social media to announce that the BBC has decided not to renew any of her cooking shows. Nadiya said in an Instagram video: "The BBC have decided that they didn't want to commission a show. And for me, that was a huge turning point because it's something I've done for the past ten years. "I was already on this steady trajectory of change and I was thinking about where I wanted my career to go, and when the BBC decided they didn't want to commission the show anymore, it really did kind of solidify everything for me, and it made me dig my heels in and think 'OK, I know where I want to be.'" Nadiya is feeling excited and optimistic about her future in the TV industry. The chef also explained that she wants to have more "ownership" over her work moving forwards. She said: "It's been interesting because there have been lots of changes in my career, that I'm really excited about, I'm excited about taking back a bit of ownership of what I do, how I do it and who I work with, and that's given me a freedom I haven't had in the last ten years." Nadiya has hosted several cooking shows on the BBC - including 'Nadiya Bakes', 'Nadiya's Fast Flavours' and 'Nadiya's Simple Spices' - since winning 'Bake Off' back in 2015, while she has also become a regular contributor on 'The One Show'. The BBC has confirmed that it hopes to continue working with Nadiya moving forwards. A spokesperson for the broadcaster said: "After several wonderful series we have made the difficult decision not to commission another cookery show with Nadiya Hussain at the moment.
