Recently, Dubai Police arrested three European women accused of performing unlicensed cosmetic procedures inside a residential apartment.
According to a Gulf News report, the arrests were made by the Anti-Economic Crime Department in coordination with the Dubai Health Authority, following a tip-off about suspicious activities at the property.
Dubai officers raided the apartment and seized medical equipment allegedly used in the illegal procedures. According to police, the women were performing treatments without the required licences, in violation of laws designed to protect public health and safety.
The suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal proceedings, according to the report.
Police did not reveal the women's exact nationalities beyond confirming they were from Europe.
Authorities have not provided any information regarding the number of clients who may have undergone these procedures, nor have they specified the exact types of cosmetic surgeries that were performed.
NHS warns of cosmetic surgery risks:
According to the UK's National Health Service (NHS), all cosmetic procedures carry some risk, whether it is a surgical treatment such as breast implants or a non-surgical option like dermal fillers or Botox.
They can lead to serious complications if not performed correctly, and may also affect mental health if the results are not as expected.
The NHS also advises caution when considering treatments promoted on social media, urging people to thoroughly research any procedures or clinics they come across online before making a decision.
An emerging trend in cosmetic surgery shows a push toward highly exaggerated feminine looks, often resembling childlike features, which experts argue is unhealthy and unrealistic.

Dengue cases on the rise: Know the top prevention and recovery tips to stay safe

Dengue cases are prevalent during the monsoon season, causing high fever. It is caused by the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito and can be prevented by taking adequate precautions. Even if you or your loved ones contract dengue, a proper diet can help achieve a faster recovery. Dengue is a viral infection that spreads from mosquitoes and is common in tropical climates(unsplash) ALSO READ: Dengue hemorrhagic fever: Doctor shares warning signs of this severe form of dengue; know prevention tips Dr Vaibhav K Gupta, Associate Director of Internal Medicine at Medanta, Gurugram, shared with HT Lifestyle why dengue is of particular concern now. He said, 'The rise of dengue fever is a growing concern, driven by several key factors. Climate change plays a significant role, creating warmer, wetter conditions that are ideal for mosquito breeding and survival. Rapidly expanding cities often lack proper waste management, leading to abundant stagnant water sources where mosquitoes thrive. Increased global travel facilitates the quick spread of the virus across borders, introducing new strains to vulnerable populations.' Surprisingly, mosquitoes are becoming tougher to control, as he added, 'Mosquitoes are developing resistance to common insecticides, making traditional control methods less effective.' Tips to reduce risks The first step is to take essential precautions and minimise exposure to areas potentially infested with mosquitoes. Dr Gupta shared two vital ways to do this: Eliminate breeding sites : Regularly empty, clean, and scrub any containers that can hold water, such as flower pots, old tires, and pet bowls. Ensure all water storage tanks are tightly covered. Clear out clogged gutters and drains. : Regularly empty, clean, and scrub any containers that can hold water, such as flower pots, old tires, and pet bowls. Protect yourself: Use insect repellent on exposed skin, especially during dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are most active. Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants when outdoors. Install and maintain screens on all windows and doors to keep mosquitoes out of your home. How to build immunity and recover faster from dengue? Eating papaya with seeds can detox your body. (Representative picture: Pexels) If you have gotten dengue, the way to recover faster is to improve your immunity through adequate hydration and a nutritious diet that supports your body's healing process. Dr Gupta listed out these essentials in the recovery process: Stay well-hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids like water, coconut water, and fresh fruit juices. This is crucial, especially if you have a fever, to prevent dehydration. Boost immunity with foods: Incorporate foods rich in Vitamin C, such as citrus fruits, bell peppers, and leafy greens, and foods high in Zinc, like nuts, beans, and lean meats. These nutrients support your body's defence mechanisms. Protein intake: Ensure adequate protein intake from sources like chicken, eggs, and lentils. Protein is essential for building and repairing tissues, which is vital during recovery. Choose easy-to-eat foods: If you're feeling unwell, opt for soft, easily digestible foods like soups, porridges, and mashed fruits to maintain your energy and nutrient intake. Adding to this list, Dr Sumit Aggarwal, Director & Head of Internal Medicine at Sarvodaya Hospital, Sector-8, Faridabad, emphasised that certain foods are important to increase the platelet count, which drops in dengue. He said, 'If you were to catch dengue, you'd want to make sure that you are resting and hydrating. The reason being for fluid intake is to avoid complications such as low platelet count or possibly shock. It is perfectly reasonable to eat light meals which do contain some nourishment (fresh fruit, such as papaya, pomegranate, kiwi, etc.), nutrient-dense leafy greens, soups, etc., all add value to assistance and immune systems while also improving recovery times.' "Avoid self-medicating, particularly pain killers- things such as ibuprofen can increase bleeding risk. Paracetamol is an agent that is quite safe for fever control, provided as also taken under medical supervision," Dr Aggarwal advised against self-medicating with painkillers like ibuprofen because of risks like an increase in bleeding. David Coote's EPL Return 'Very Difficult' After Ban For Comments On Jurgen Klopp, Says Howard Webb

The controversial referee had gone on an abusive rant against the former Liverpool boss and was suspended in November 2024 for an aggravated breach of the FA guidelines. Former referee Howard Webb has given a strong verdict against David Coote, claiming the disgraced referee would find it extremely difficult to come back to the list of English Premier League officials. Webb even raised doubts about Coote ever officiating at the elite level again after he was handed a suspension for making derogatory comments about former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. In a video filmed during lockdown and leaked online in November 2024, Coote had gone on an abusive rant against Klopp and was criticised widely, before being suspended for an 'aggravated breach" of Football Association guidelines. Even though the referee expressed 'deep remorse" and accepted that his remarks on the German tactician were 'crass and inappropriate", he was barred from officiating in matches. In a double whammy, Coote was then also sacked from the Premier League referees' body, the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), when another controversial video caught the body's attention, where he appears to be sniffing white powder during Euro 2024. UEFA banned Coote from referee duties at European competitions in February for a suspension period lasting until June 30, 2026. 'I think it'd be really difficult for David to come back, I'm afraid to say," said Webb, as quoted by The Guardian. 'He is somebody that we stay in contact with, somebody who was part of our refereeing family for a long time and served the game as well for a long period of time and I've known him personally for many years. So it's sad what happened with David, but I would think it would be a challenging thing for him to come back." 'It became apparent that David had made some bad choices away from the football field. He was an employee of ours. So obviously we had to care for him and we had to try to understand why he made some of those choices and where they connected to the job that he had. 'We spoke to all of our officials as well other officials and said: 'How are you feeling about all of this?' And there was some feedback that came back from them about the support that they think they need. And then it was a good time for us to reflect on the services that we do provide within our own staff expertise." view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
