Fundamental steps taken to improve health sector: minister
While addressing the second surgical conference at Akhtar Saeed Medical and Dental College Bahria Town as the chief guest, Salman said, 'Efforts are being made to ensure safe treatment and care of patients in hospitals. Chief Minister's Children's Heart Surgery Programme, Chief Minister's Dialysis Programme and Chief Minister's Special Initiative for Transplant Programme are the flagship programmes of the Punjab government.'
He said the Asia's largest Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research is being built in Lahore. A state-of-the-art Nawaz Sharif Institutes of Cardiology are being built in Lahore and Sargodha. The shortage of doctors and nurses in hospitals is being met on priority basis, he assured.
Dean Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute Professor Faisal Saud Dar, Principal Professor Nadeem Hafeez Butt, Professor Farooq Saeed Khan, Professor Fariha Farooq, Dr Sabir Ayaz Malik, Professor Muhammad Saleem and Dr Umair Farooq were present.
Moreover, Khawaja Salman Rafique, while speaking at a ceremony held in connection with 'International Firefighters Day' said 'Our rescuers are rendering invaluable services to protect the lives and property of the people. We pay tribute to the invaluable sacrifices of the rescuers who sacrificed their lives while protecting the lives and property of the people. Punjab rescuers are making Pakistan proud all over the world.'
He said, 'Air Ambulance Service was the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Emergency services are being successfully carried out on the motorway.' Secretary Emergency Services Department Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer, while addressing the participants of the ceremony, said that rescuers save the lives of others by putting their own lives in danger. Fire hydrants, alarm systems, exits and stairs must be installed in high-rise buildings. Firefighters are our heroes who go into burning buildings and save lives. Pakistan is the first team in South Asia to be certified by the United Nations Insrag. The removal of encroachments from markets and roads has improved the rescue response, he added. The Punjab Emergency Service has provided rescue services to more than 17.1 million people. The Punjab Emergency Service has responded to 4.4 million road traffic accidents so far. Dr Rizwan Naseer said that the Water Rescue Service rescued 18,612 drowning emergencies and more than 328,000 flood victims.
Meanwhile, in a meeting, health minister conducted a detailed review of the Chief Minister's Children's Heart Surgery Programme was taken. CEO Punjab Health Initiative Management Company Dr Ali Razaq also gave a briefing in this regard.
Khawaja Salman Rafique, while expressing his views, said that the Chief Minister's Children's Heart Surgery Program is the flagship programme of the Punjab government. More than 3690 innocent children have been performed heart surgeries under the Chief Minister's Children's Heart Surgery Programme so far. Children's heart surgeries are being performed in 6 government and 11 private hospitals in Punjab. Under this unique health programme, free heart surgeries worth billions of rupees have been performed on children so far. Further improvements are being made in the three historic programmes of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister's Children's Heart Surgery Programme, Chief Minister's Dialysis Programme and Chief Minister's Special Initiative for Transplant Programme. One hundred percent transparency is being ensured in the Chief Minister's Children's Heart Surgery Programme.

Health sector: Punjab govt undertaking various projects
LAHORE: As per vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the government has launched revolutionary and historic projects worth billions of rupees in the health sector. Under the Nawaz Sharif Medical District Project, Children's Hospital-2 and Institute of Genetic and Blood Diseases, Institute of Surgical, Orthopaedic and Medical Rehabilitation, Centre of Excellence for Nursing Education, Specialized Medical Hospital, 1000-bed Cardiac Hospital, Medical University and State-of-the-Art Diagnostic Lab will be built in Lahore. IDAP has been directed to start work on all new health projects expeditiously. An important meeting regarding the Nawaz Sharif Medical District was held in the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique and Secretary Health Azmat Mahmood Khan. The meeting was attended by was also attended by vice-chancellor University of Child Health Sciences Prof. Masood Sadiq through video link. During the meeting, a detailed overview of the Nawaz Sharif Medical District project was presented. A review was conducted. Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood Khan informed the participants about the latest progress on the project. Khawaja Salman Rafique said on the occasion that the Punjab government is laying a network of new government hospitals across the province for the convenience of the people. Providing the best health facilities to the people at their doorstep is the top priority of the Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif who wants the people not to face any problem in health facilities. Provincial Secretary Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Azmat Mahmood Khan said that the concerned officers are continuously monitoring the project of Nawaz Sharif Medical District. CM Maryam visits Japanese hospital, seeks cooperation
LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited National Center for Global Health, Japan's world-renowned hospital for treatment of infectious diseases. She decided to introduce Japanese healthcare and health management system in Punjab, and said, 'Modern high-tech Japanese machinery, equipment and treatment methods will be used in public sector health system of Punjab.' She also decided to build Nawaz Sharif Medical District on the model of Japanese healthcare system. She said, 'We will introduce health insurance method in Punjab like Japan.' She and the members of her delegation were given a detailed briefing about Japanese treatment methods for diabetes, liver and infectious diseases. The Chief Minister visited different departments of the hospital, and reviewed various facilities and machinery provided in the hospital. Japanese firms offered free land
Punjab can become a manufacturing hub for Middle East and Africa, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif informed Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) Chairman Norihiko Ishiguro on Tuesday. During a meeting in Tokyo, she invited Japanese investors and companies to manufacture and assemble products in Punjab. Inviting Japanese investors to invest in the province, she vowed to provide them free land in tax-free Special Economic Zones (SEZs) of Punjab. She also invited JETRO to start joint venture projects with private and public sector companies of Punjab. The chief minister said, "Punjab is a big market from which Japanese investors can benefit." She invited Japanese companies to build information technology parks in the Nawaz Sharif IT City, and discussed labour training and provision of trained and skilled manpower as per needs of companies in Japan. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said, "Pakistan is a country with a majority of youth. We want Japanese companies to support us in making our youth skilled. She also reviewed possibilities of increasing the volume of bilateral trade. She briefed the head of JETRO about various investment opportunities in Punjab. She apprised him of the progress of the IT city project. She said a twin tower project under construction in the Nawaz Sharif IT City would be completed soon and world-acclaimed companies in the business were interested to start operations in the zone. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stressed the need to increase business-to-business contacts between Japan and Punjab. She said, "We want to take Punjab to the heights of technology on the model of Japan." She added, "Punjab can provide surgical instruments, leather products and sports equipment to Japan." She underscored, "Punjab is interested in increasing export of fine basmati rice to Japan." The chief minister also visited a world-renowned hospital for treatment of infectious diseases, Japan's National Centre for Global Health. She decided to introduce the Japanese healthcare and management system in Punjab. She visited various institutions related to urban development projects. She was briefed about the Japanese government services for clean water, sewerage, wastewater treatment, environmental improvement and saving the people from toxic carbon.
