Next shoppers hail 'very comfy' £29 sandals as 'like Birkenstocks' but 65% cheaper

Daily Record13-05-2025
Get summer ready with these summer sandals that are much cheaper than a pair of Birkenstocks.
Many fashion fans will admit that a pair of Birkenstocks' Arizona Sandals are a summer must-have. However, like many big-name brands, they aren't exactly the cheapest.
The iconic two-strap sandals have earned a legion of fans that includes celebrities such as Kendall Jenner and Margot Robbie. With prices starting from £85, it's no wonder many retailers have been offering their own versions at cheaper prices.
One of them is Next, with the high street retailer's Forever Comfort® Double Strap Footbed Sandals being hailed as "similar" to the luxury brand's own footwear, but at just £29 a pair, they are a staggering £56 cheaper.
Available in a standard fit, these sandals feature the same two-strap design, adjustable buckle fastening and upper suede material that shoppers say is "soft" and causes "no rubbing" on the top of the foot.
With the suede-lined Forever Comfort Footbed, they have been designed to provide all day comfort, while the durable outsole has been designed to last, offering value for money.
Available in sizes 3.5 to nine, these sandals can be bought in four colours - silver, neutral, coral pink and black.

Product Description
Whether paired with swimwear, a summer dress or even a pair of linen trousers, they can be paired with virtually any outfit.
Next isn't the only retailer to offer a 'dupe' for the iconic Birkenstocks sandals, as New Look's own Mink Faux Leather Buckle Strap Sandals also offer a similar design for a humble £16.99.
Over at Debenhams, shoppers can also find another affordable alternative with the EverAu Australia Mallard leather Twin Buckle Sandals that are on offer for £49.99, although they would usually cost £89.99.
Shoppers keen on bagging Next's own summer sandals will be pleased by more than their price, which is 65 per cent less than Birkenstocks.
They have multiple glowing reviews varying for each colour and they have been praised as "very comfortable" and also "good value."
One of the positive reviews read: "Very comfortable sandals. Similar to Birkenstocks but half the price!"
A second happy customer said: "I've been buying these for many years, always comfortable and good value. Would recommend."
Fashion deal of the week
Jetting off on holiday this summer and need some flattering new swimwear?
One that shoppers can't stop gushing over is Next's Plunge Shaping Tummy Control Swimsuit that seems to "firm" wobbly bits around the waistline. Costing just £40, it boasts 10 colours and prints to choose from.
With its elegant deep plunge neckline and trendy high-cut leg design, it's a fashionable one-piece that also is "not too revealing". It comes with a tummy-shaping panel around the middle that works to smooth out any lumps and bumps.
Each design of the one-piece is available in a regular-fit, with sizes ranging from a six through to 26, although some are beginning to sell out incredibly fast.
Those who have bought the £40 Next swimsuit can't stop praising it, as one shopper said: "The thick straps are super supportive and comfortable and the plunge neckline is very flattering while not showing too much cleavage. It's quite a high leg which I like and it feels very comfortable on.
"It pulls the tummy in nicely and is lovely and soft. I can't wait to wear this by the pool on holiday and I will feel comfortable swimming in it too."
A repeat purchaser wrote: "I've got a few different colours in this style of swimsuit now as it's a very flattering fit whilst also being very comfortable and secure."

However, someone who wasn't keen on the comfortability said: "I can't return as I had them too long, only wore them recently and they have given me blisters and a sore on my foot. I wouldn't recommend. I'm surprised as Next are usually good quality."
Although someone else added: "Lovely soft straps. Very comfortable as expected."
And another shopper said of their purchase: "Very comfortable and straps are soft on top of foot - no rubbing."

Kendall Jenner looks unrecognizable as she channels Angelina Jolie on set

Kendall Jenner looked unrecognizable during a Los Angeles photo shoot on Saturday. The 29-year-old model — who just appeared in longtime friend Justin Bieber's Instagram post — drew a striking resemblance to Angelina Jolie in the 2010 action-mystery movie Salt. Kendall traded her dark bob haircut for long, flowing locks complete with face-framing bangs. In addition to the bone-straight brunette wig, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians alum wore narrow, black sunglasses. Underneath the eyewear the beauty flaunted a full face of matte makeup. During a break from being in front of the camera, the 818 Tequila founder was clad in a gray robe and black flip-flops. She sipped from plastic cup while holding her phone in one hand and draping a black bag over her shoulder. Fans were left buzzing on Saturday as pop star Justin shared a rare photo with Kendall, who is his wife Hailey's BFF, to Instagram. The candid snapshot — taken at an LA dive bar on Thursday night — showed the singer star listening intently to the model as she used her hands to convey a point. The Kardashians star was effortlessly stylish in a cropped black halter neck top and mid-rise white jeans. Hailey took to the comments section of the post to tease, 'It's always Kendall telling a story with her hands.' In response, Jenner quipped: 'God forbid I'm a visual storyteller.' Kendall also recently spent time with Justin and Hailey as she attended the Canadian crooner's SWAG album release party. The two runway regulars appeared together in various outtakes from the event, for which they both wore clinging black outfits. The model-turned-entrepreneur enjoyed an indoor game of mini golf during the soiree. Dressed in clinging capris and a sleeveless top, she showed off her athletic prowess in two photos as she flexed her powerful swing. Last month the superstar spent quality time with her sister Kylie Jenner and their friends during a vacation in Tuscany. And shortly before heading to France, the sisters were in Italy with mom Kris Jenner for the star-studded wedding of billionaire Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. Then, in late July, the famous family dined at the upscale Los Angeles restaurant The Ivy, in honor of matriarch MJ's 91st birthday. The celebration was cause for a fashion parade, as the stars wore their best looks for the special occasion.

Justin Bieber looks concerned on night out with wife Hailey and Kendall Jenner days after buying $7m mansion

JUSTIN BIEBER looked concerned on a night out with wife Hailey and her best friend Kendall Jenner. The trio were spotted stepping out together just days after Justin, 31, and Hailey, 28, splashed the cash on a secluded $7 million mansion. 5 5 Justin took to Instagram to share a pic of him and the Kar-Jenner in deep conversation whilst he expressed a concerned look. The pals who have now been friends for over a decade looked casual Kendall, 29, wearing a black halter top and white jeans with Justin opting for a white vest and jeans. Hailey commented underneath the post, saying: "It's always Kendall telling a story with her hands.' With Kendall promptly replying: 'God forbid i'm a visual storyteller.' Fans seemed to be surprised by the post, considering Kendall and Justin faced dating rumours before the latter married Hailey in 2018. One user said: 'This man posted up with everybody but his wife,' 'Everyone freaking out as if that's not Hailey's bff of over a decade and she was there like lol,' added another. 'Justin trying to lock in to what Kendall is saying is SENDING me (crying emoji)' said a third. A fourth said: 'What's funny is Hailey is probably the one that probably took this picture and everyone is writing think pieces.' In what seemed like a swift response Justin uploaded a photo of him and his wife sweetly smiling together in the same venue. Justin Bieber sparks concern with series of worrying selfies as he refers to drugs in shock post Justin recently snapped up a secluded Idaho home by a lake that is now worth $7 million, The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed. The singer brought the property which is near the Gozzer Ranch Golf & Lake Club in 2020. Property documents show the custom-built home, measuring almost 5,000 square feet, has five bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms. It boasts an open-plan style with the kitchen flowing through to the dining room and top-of-the-range appliances. The outdoor area is perfect for entertaining with a barbecue, covered patio, and outdoor fire pit. Bieber bought the property for $4.2 million in mid-2020 under an LLC linked to Tri Star Sports and Entertainment Group, which he has since parted ways with. A local source told The U.S. Sun, "Justin has been coming to Coeur d'Alene for years. "He can be out on the water, and hang out at the Gozzer ranch club without being disturbed every day, and have people taking photographs of everything he does, he can relax more. "He's often playing golf and hanging with friends, just being a normal guy and not a pop star. "Justin has even been seen downtown browsing around the local shops, but people tend to leave him alone. "They are very protective here, and it's not unusual to see stars. "This is a place where celebrities come to get away and can switch off, and it's packed with natural beauty." 5 5 5

Urgent recall for girls' summer dresses over risk of strangulation

High street fashion giants are recalling some of their popular children's clothing over a 'risk of strangulation'. The Miss Summer children's clothing range sold by the retailers Next and Matalan has decorative cords that are too long. The design fault means the cord could become wrapped around a child's neck and strangle, choke or trap them, a product recall notice says. Miss issued a recall last month, with Next asking customers to stop their children from wearing them and return the product for a full refund. Parents can pop into the store to do so or arrange a collection over the phone or through their online Next account. The fashion chain adds: 'If you have given this item as a gift, please ask the recipient to contact Next as soon as possible. We are sorry for any disappointment caused.' Matalan issued a similar recall of Miss clothing on Friday, which includes boho dresses and knitted tops sold between April 11 and June 2. The notice states: 'Owners of the product should cease use immediately and return to Miss for a full refund. Printed Boho Summer Dresses (item numbers: F83773, F83782 and F83775) Printed Patch Work Summer Dress (F83791, F83779 and F83781) True Knit Top, Shorts and Headband Outfit Set (F85623) Miss Soft Pink Printed Boho Summer Dress (product ID: S3131522_CJ88) Miss Bottle Green True Knit Top Shorts & Headband Outfit Set (S3131529_C092) Miss Cream True Knit Top, Shorts & Headband Outfit Set (S3122071_C438) Miss Blue Printed Patch Work Summer Dress (S3131515_C128) Miss Light Blue Printed Boho Summer Dress (S3131516_C164) Miss Pink Printed Boho Summer Dress (S3131522_C323) Miss Pink True Knit Top, Shorts & Headband Set (S3131529_C323) Miss Blue Printed Patch Work Summer Dress (S3131523_C128) 'To return the product, please create a returns label at the following website: The Office for Product Safety and Standards added that if shoppers can't print out the label, they should contact Matalan's customer service team. The clothing sets have been removed from the Next and Matalan websites, now returning error messages when clicked. More Trending Product safety officials say the cords 'exceed the maximum permissible length' allowed by the General Product Safety Regulations 2005. It's not just clothing that UK shoppers have been asked to return. Co-op recalled its pork pies earlier this week after they were found to contain an unlisted allergen, milk. Cheese-lovers in Northern Ireland were also warned this week not to eat a batch of goat's cheese by the supermarket chain, SPAR, as officials found it contained Listeria monocytogenes bacteria. Most people who get sick from food tainted with listeria suffer flu-like symptoms – fever, diarrhoea, vomiting – for a few days.
