Sip N Sea in Saundersfoot is thriving since opening

Sip N Sea was opened in Saundersfoot on August 17, 2025, by Hugh Drynda.
Hugh ran The Snug in the same village for two and a half years but stopped running the popular pub in January to focus on his new business venture.
Hugh's mother, Micaela Scudamore said: 'Things are going really well. We are going from strength to strength. We have been well-supported by locals and non-locals alike.
'We cook everything homemade, and people absolutely love our breakfast. We have a great reputation, and we are one of the top cafes on Google for Pembrokeshire. We have also introduced live music, and we have Sky Sports.
'It's Hugh's pub but I help him out. Everything has been very positive. Hugh is purely focused on Sip N Sea now and we are doing everything we can for the business to become bigger and better.
'We are going to keep on doing what we're doing. Our reviews speak for themselves. We are here for the long run not the short run. We are looking forward to summer, but we are already really busy, and we will be here when things get even busier in the coming months.'
Sip N Sea is a café/restaurant from 9am to 3pm and a bar from 3pm to 11pm.
The business has 36 reviews on Google and an average rating of five stars out of five.
A review from this month (May 2025) wrote: 'Thoroughly enjoyed the Mexican evening tonight. Fish tacos were superb (my favourite tonight) and the pulled beef nachos/tacos were also delicious.
'As always, a great atmosphere here and the friendly faces make all the difference. A lovely evening and so nice to have something different. Great value for money. Will certainly be back."
Another review from the same month added: 'Called in for breakfast the other morning. A really well-presented café-bar with helpful, friendly staff.
'The breakfast and vegetarian breakfast were exceptional with my partner saying the vegetarian sausages were the best she had tasted. Loved the presentation and quality of the food. Definitely returning when we are in the area.'
Meanwhile, a review from two months ago (March 2025) said: 'Hugh. Thank you & your wonderful staff for making our stay in Saundersfoot a special week. The food was great, music with 'Butch' was fantastic & the atmosphere was great.
'It was nice to be part of the sing along with the locals, who made us feel so welcome. Thank you for looking after us so well. We will be back. Shirley & Lofty.'

Google taps top Obama Supreme Court lawyer for search antitrust appeal

June 3 (Reuters) - Alphabet's Google (GOOGL.O), opens new tab has hired Donald Verrilli Jr, the U.S. solicitor general during the Barack Obama administration, to appeal a judge's ruling that the tech titan has an unlawful monopoly in online search, Google confirmed on Tuesday. Verrilli's hire is a key first step in Google's legal fight to undo the ruling, which it has said could pose a threat to its business. U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta last year ruled Google holds an unlawful monopoly in online search and related advertising, and is considering proposals to make the tech titan sell off its popular Chrome browser, or share data that CEO Sundar Pichai says would allow competitors reverse engineer its search engine. Google has argued the DOJ failed to prove that competition was harmed by its exclusive agreements with device makers such as Apple to preload Google as the default search engine on new devices. The company has recently begun loosening its agreements to allow partners including Samsung to load rival apps. Verrilli, who as solicitor general was the Obama White House's top Supreme Court advocate, is known for his work successfully defending the Democratic president's signature domestic healthcare law. He will represent Google in its planned appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, where Democratic-appointed judges outnumber Republican ones 9 to 6. Verrilli is separately the lead lawyer for law firm Susman Godfrey in its lawsuit against the Trump administration over an executive order that restricted its business. A judge in April blocked key provisions of the order. Verrilli is representing hundreds of other firms that filed a court brief denouncing Republican President Donald Trump's attacks on prominent law firms. He is also representing U.S. Copyright Office Director Shira Perlmutter in a lawsuit challenging her firing, and the National Endowment for Democracy in a case accusing the Trump administration of illegally withholding funds. Verrilli's firm Munger Tolles has represented Google in other lawsuits. The firm, whose founders include the late Charlie Munger, has counted Berkshire Hathaway and Bank of America as some of its other clients.

More than 40 MILLION Brits alerted to switch on forgotten anti-theft mobile feature as phone snatching soars

MILLIONS of mobile users across the UK have been urged to switch on little-known anti-theft settings following a spate of phone snatches. In London alone, two-thirds of thefts now relate to mobile phones, Met Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway told MPs today. 2 Criminal gangs are believed to make £50million a year from stolen phones Credit: PA Police seized more than 1,000 stolen handsets and arrested 230 people in a single week earlier this year in a crackdown on the problem. The Met Police has described it as a colossal £50million-a-year trade. Often, phone thefts have more to do with raiding people's bank accounts than value in the handset itself. A victim recently revealed how they were caught out by crafty crooks who went on to spend hundreds. Tech companies have developed a number of tools to help prevent such incidents. Google has a few for Android users which detect the motion associated with a physical snatch. When a snatch is detected your phone will lock so thieves can't go through all your banking apps and more. Samsung, which uses Android on its phones, alerted more than 40million Samsung Account holders of its anti-theft features. The firm says these features will now also be available to even more devices soon, having started with the launch of the Galaxy S25 series in February. Among Samsung's own added efforts is Theft Protection, a multi-layered suite of features developed to safeguard personal data, even in high-risk situations such as robbery. Google reveals clever trick to prevent thieves from emptying your accounts on the Android 15 "Samsung is deeply committed to working closely with the Home Office on the issue of mobile phone theft and related crimes and we're in constant collaboration with our partners across the industry, to look at new and existing solutions to help combat this complex issue and ultimately help improve the safety of mobile phone users," said Annika Bizon, Mobile Experience (MX) VP of Product and Marketing, UK&I at Samsung. "Our recent One UI 7 update built further on existing protections with new anti-theft features such as identity check, biometric authentication and security delay, all featured in our latest Galaxy S25 series. "These features have now also been rolled out into a range of models across our devices and further updates will follow. "We must do everything we can to ensure the safety and security of our customers when they are using their mobile devices and we will continue to work hard to ensure our customers are aware of the wide range of security features available to them." How to turn on Theft Detection Lock To turn on Theft Detection Lock on a Samsung phone, follow these steps: Go to Settings Select Security and privacy Tap Lost device protection Go to Theft protection Switch the Theft detection option on
