Bitcoin ETP With DeFi Yield Goes Live in Europe

Yahoo01-07-2025
A bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded product (ETP) that generates yield from decentralized finance (DeFi) markets has debuted on Tuesday, in what issuer Fineqia calls a first of its kind.
The Fineqia Bitcoin Yield ETP (YBTC), listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange, targets a 6% annual yield by deploying investor capital into DeFi strategies. It is issued by Fineqia's Liechtenstein-based subsidiary and advised by Psalion Yield, a digital asset investment firm focused on blockchain-based yield.
Unlike existing crypto yield ETPs that rely on derivatives or structured notes, YBTC maintains one-to-one exposure to bitcoin while generating returns directly from DeFi protocols.
'It allows investors to earn more BTC while they hold it, combining long-term conviction with compounding returns, all inside a regulated wrapper,' said Fineqia CEO, Bundeep Singh Rangar.
The ETP also supports in-kind transfers, meaning that digital asset holders can contribute BTC directly to the product without the need to first convert into cash incurring a taxable event.
YBTC arrives at a time when investor interest in crypto-focused investments is growing. These investment products has brought digital assets closer to traditional investors, allowing them to invest in digital assets in a familiar way through brokerage accounts without the need of crypto wallets and blockchain transactions.
Bitcoin exchange-traded products enjoyed rapid growth over the past year and have gobbled up $150 billion of assets, Fineqia said.

Ethereum could smash all-time highs today

Ethereum could smash all-time highs today originally appeared on TheStreet. Ethereum (ETH) is trading in the $4,300–$4,400 range. This is very close to its all-time high (ATH) of $4,878 reached in November 2021. A number of analysts have commented that the market conditions are right for a potential retest of the level as soon as today, with strong technical momentum and increased institutional buying. Institutional activity is adding to the bullish outlook. Top crypto market commentator VirtualBacon pointed out that on August 8, about $460 million flowed into ETH exchange-traded funds (ETFs), compared to a lower liquidity Bitcoin flow of $400 million. He also noted that ETF and treasury-owned ETH have increased from $24 billion in July to $33 billion, reducing available supply on exchanges to its lowest level since 2016. On August 12, BlackRock bought over $12 billion worth of ETH. Moreover, Bitmine Immersion is soliciting $20 billion to acquire additional ETH, as per an SEC filing. The recent rally for Ethereum above the $4,000 benchmark is a turning point given that the asset has struggled to break out of this price point historically, said crypto analyst analyst Benjamin Cowen argues that while ETH could run to the prior all-time highs, a September pullback is in the charts. As per TradingView, ETH's price has been in a steady uptrend through August, with ETH's Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) — a commonly used momentum indicator — showing a strong bullish crossover. When an upward price momentum is occurring, the MACD is said to have a bullish crossover when the blue "MACD line" crosses above the orange "signal line," while the histogram bars go positive. As of press time, ETH is trading around $4,501.43, up 5.4% in the past 24 hours, with daily trading volume at $51.53 billion. However, the asset is still shy of its previous all-time high of $4,891.70 by nearly 8%. Coinbase Revives Stablecoin Funding Program to Bolster DeFi Liquidity

Crypto exchange Coinbase (COIN) said on Tuesday it is reviving its Stablecoin Bootstrap Fund, aiming to boost stablecoin liquidity on decentralized finance (DeFi) markets. The initiative will be managed by Coinbase Asset Management and begins with deployments on Aave, Morpho, Kamino and Jupiter, according to a blog post. The exchange first launched the program in 2019 to help protocols seed early trading pools for USDC stablecoin. That effort supported early platforms like Uniswap (UNI), Compound (COMP) and dYdX (DYDX) and helped spearhead USDC in the DeFi ecosystem, which is still the most widely used stablecoin in the sector. In its new iteration, the initiative will allocate capital across both established and emerging protocols, aiming to ensure users can access stable yields and efficient markets. While Coinbase has not disclosed the size of the fund or specific amounts for each deployment, a company spokesperson told CoinDesk it will test placements across multiple networks before scaling further. Currently, the fund provides capital in USDC and EURC, Circle's euro-pegged stablecoin, the company added. Coinbase's move comes as the DeFi sector's growth is accelerating amid red-hot crypto markets and easing regulatory headwinds in the U.S. There are almost $200 billion of assets held across DeFi protocols collectively, nearly doubling since April but still below its 2021 peak, DefiLlama data in retrieving data Sign in to access your portfolio Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data Error in retrieving data

Electric vehicle sales growth eases to 21% in July, research firm says

By Alessandro Parodi (Reuters) -Global electric vehicle sales grew 21% year-on-year in July, the slowest rate since January and down from 25% in June, as momentum in plug-in hybrid sales in China slackened, market research firm Rho Motion said on Wednesday. WHY IT'S IMPORTANT China is the world's biggest car market and accounts for more than half of global EV sales, which in Rho Motion's data include battery-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. Its overall car sales growth slowed in July, with BYD, the world's largest EV maker, recording its third monthly drop in registrations. The relatively muted slowdown in overall EV sales however shows other markets are taking up some of the slack, with European sales for one benefiting from incentives aimed at speeding up decarbonisation. BY THE NUMBERS Global sales of battery-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids rose to 1.6 million units in July, Rho Motion data showed. China's EV sales growth, which averaged 36% a month in the first half, eased to 12% in July as the previously booming market was dampened by a pause in some 2025 government subsidy schemes for EV and plug-in hybrid purchases, Rho Motion data manager Charles Lester said. Chinese sales reached around one million vehicles. European sales surged 48% to about 390,000 units, while North American sales climbed 10% to more than 170,000. Sales in the rest of the world jumped 55% to more than 140,000 vehicles. KEY QUOTE "Despite regional variations, the overall trajectory for EV adoption in 2025 remains strongly upward," Lester said. WHAT'S NEXT Chinese car sales are expected to return to strong growth from August as new funds become available for its subsidy schemes, while a cut in U.S. tax credits for buying or leasing new EVs at the end of September will hurt demand there, Lester added.
