Country star Kelsea Ballerini 'needs a break'
Kelsea Ballerini plans to "figure out what's next" over the summer.
The 31-year-old singer wrapped Kelsea Ballerini Live on Tour in April and she now plans to take a prolonged break from the music industry, before embarking on her next challenge.
Kelsea - who also made her debut on 'The Voice' earlier this year - said on 'TODAY with Jenna and Friends': "I need a break!
"And I've never been able to say that before, but I really think it's just time for me to pump the brakes, figure out what's next, have a summer, what?! Go to the beach? Huh? Learn to cook a new meal, hang out with the dogs, so that's kind of my agenda."
Kelsea observed that her plans are often derailed by unforeseen events and career opportunities.
She added: "I'm very open to whatever is out there."
Kelsea also revealed that she relished her experience on 'The Voice'.
The 'Half of My Hometown' hitmaker reflected: "I think ending my first arena tour, ending my first time on 'The Voice', it's just been such a beautiful season of doing things that are out of my comfort zone and bigger than I've ever done and it's been really fulfilling. I love being in that seat."
Earlier this month, John Legend observed that Kelsea has been "very good" on 'The Voice'.
The singer debuted as a coach on the hit TV show in February, and John was impressed by his co-star, describing her as a "wonderful" addition to the line-up.
John, 46 - who serves as one of the coaches alongside Kelsea, Michael Buble and Adam Levine - told 'Extra': "She took to the show quickly.
"She's been a guest on the show before; she guest coached for Kelly [Clarkson] before and so I think she came in just knowing how everything worked and she was ready to go.
"She has such a great personality. She's been very good at winning artists for her team, especially the ladies. I definitely knew I had no chance against her with some of the ladies. You could tell the girl power thing was working.
"She's been wonderful and she's been great to get to know on the show."

Cheryl Burke addresses sudden weight loss after divorce
Cheryl Burke feels "better than ever" after losing weight. The 41-year-old dancer - who was married to 'Boy Meets World' star Matthew Lawrence from 2019 until 2022 - recently shed 35lbs and insisted that the health kick came at a time when she was adjusting to various life changes, including going through a divorce and leaving her long-running role as a professional on 'Dancing with the Stars'. She told US TV show 'Extra': "I feel amazing. I feel better than ever. "I think my transformation has been more from within and doing a lot of work and healing and moving through huge life changes from leaving the show, divorcing, moving all in one year. I mean, no pun intended, but it has really taken a lot of weight off of me." The podcast host reflected on her own journey with her bdy image, and noted that her weight has "always been an issue" to her because she had to focus on her figure so much for her career. She said: "Being in front of the mirrors constantly, as far as weight or my personal story goes, it has always been an issue, whether that be from my dance coaches or just me in general, right? So it's nice to not have to think about it." Cheryl recently revealed that during the height of her 'Dancing with the Stars' success, she travelled with a set of scales because she had become so obsessed with exactly how much she weighed. She said: ", yeah, so I still think I have body dysmorphia. I mean, I'm currently, obviously, working through it all, but I was obsessive, you know? And I'm an addict and almost sober for seven years, but my brain is definitely, I get easily obsessed and addicted to whatever it is that I want to accomplish

Directing is really rewarding, says Scarlett Johansson
Scarlett Johansson found directing to be a "really rewarding" experience. The 40-year-old star made her directorial debut with 'Eleanor the Great', the new drama movie starring June Squibb in the title role, and Scarlett has revealed that she loved the challenge of working behind the camera. The Hollywood star told 'Extra': "I have a different perspective on just the process of, you know, pre-production and then what goes on after we all leave. I think, as an actor, you're hoping that the director sees kind of what you were doing and follows, you know, pulls the right thread and all of that stuff, but you don't know. "You have no, kind of, control over it and now, you know, having experienced the other side of it, it just gives you, I think, an interesting insight into how people, other directors make their choices and the process that they go through to, you know, make it all happen. "It's a lot of work, but it can be really rewarding." Scarlett recently premiered the movie at the Cannes Film Festival, and she relished walking the red carpet with Erin Kellyman and June Squibb. The actress said: "Just being able to stand alongside Erin Kellyman and June Squibb after the film premiered and feel the warmth of the audience and the love from the audience for the film and for the incredible performances in it, it was such a moving moment. "And just to see June also so celebrated everywhere we went in Cannes, people were so excited to see her. It was just, it was amazing. "I'll never forget that moment of just being with those women after the screening and celebrating, you know, with the audience. It was really touching.' Despite this, Scarlett recently revealed that she's "not sure" whether to focus her attention on directing or acting. The film star doesn't yet know whether her long-term future is in front, or behind, the camera. Asked if the film marks a new beginning for her, Scarlett told Collider: "I don't know. I'm not sure. I guess we'll see. "My intention is to work on projects I would go and see, whether they're like 'Jurassic World' or this film. The commerciality of things is also important to me, too. Would audiences want to see this, too? Is this generally interesting? Those are things I look for and focus on and care about. So, we'll see, I guess." Scarlett - who is one of the best-paid actresses in Hollywood - insisted that she has no intention of retiring from acting. She clarified: "I'm certainly still an actor for hire — I want that to be widely printed."

Reuben De Melo: WA singer's journey from FIFO dad to touring family man after winning The Voice 2024
Unlike most emerging musical stars, former FIFO dad Reuben De Melo's life-changing victory on The Voice 2024 has afforded him more time at home with his family than ever. Removing the familiar high-vis from his wardrobe following years as a mine site rigger, the doting WA father has admitted 'life's changed heaps' as he balances time in the studio with simply being present for his three young kids and wife Olivia. 'We have actually bought a house closer to the kids' school, so a lot of positives have come out of this,' he told The West Australian. 'Obviously (I'm) not flying out to work, but I'm spending time with the kids a bit more and getting used to that sort of life being in the studio, using my time wisely, recording songs and just basically having everything in the bank to release.' With his soulful vocals striking a chord with viewers nationwide, De Melo says his newly released debut single Slow brings a 'commercial' edge to his very human sound. Ironically, it was written two years ago during his UK travels with family when he felt 'everything had become monotonous'. While the temptation might now be to trade his rawness for record sales by conforming to industry pressures, the 'father figure' is conscious of staying true to himself. 'I don't know if the world's going to change me, and if it does, I'm going to reassess,' he said. 'I think I'm going to stay true to my music, which comes from the heart and mental health, and that mining story.' What has changed, is De Melo's profile — which has seen his billing upgraded from modest Perth bars to the likes of Thursday night's Western Australian of the Year Awards. Copping second glances from strangers at the airport has become the singer's new normal, along with random photos with fans, and even messages of support from public figures such as Ben Cousins who the singer described as 'an absolute legend'. 'I have to pinch myself and go, 'You're just human mate'. But it's surreal,' De Melo said. Building a team over the past three months to propel him into the next chapter of his career, the talent is set to release additional tracks to feature on his upcoming EP which will be he'll perform on his first Australian tour this July and August. However, perhaps a sweeter reward will be his reunion with beloved The Voice coach and pop star LeAnn Rimes during her national run of shows in September. And if he's lucky, the duo's dynamic might shift from master-and-apprentice to that of equals when Rimes returns to Australia. 'She's asked me to get in the studio with her to work on a track as well, which is quite exciting. Not sure when that that will be released or anything yet, but I'm looking forward to it,' De Melo said.
