UGC Ishan Uday Scholarship: Online registration process for the University Grants Commission (UGC) Ishan Uday Scholarship for North East Region (NER) is underway. Eligible and interested candidates can apply for the UGC Ishan Uday scholarship up to October 31 on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), scholarsips.gov.in. Under this scheme, ten thousand scholarships are awarded every year to students belonging to the economically weaker section of the Northeast region at the rate of ₹ 8,000 per month for ten months.
Fifty per cent of the scholarships under each category are earmarked for Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Law, Management and the other 50 per cent are earmarked for Science, Engineering & Technology, Medical, Technical, Agriculture and Forestry programmes.
The result or selection status is normally announced in November/December.

They should be pursuing a recognised undergraduate degree
Only the students who are already admitted in the first year of the UG degree programme in an eligible university/college/institution within India are eligible to apply.
Students who have already acquired a degree are not eligible.
The scholarship will be provided for the duration of the UG degree programme. For integrated and dual degree programmes, the scholarship will be awarded for the duration of the UG compartment only.
The scholarship is only for those studying a regular, full-time course. Open/ distance/ correspondence/ private/ part-time courses are not eligible.
Students admitted through the management quota are not eligible.
The annual parental income of the applicant should be below ₹ 4.50 lakh per annum.
4.50 lakh per annum. The applicants must have a valid domicile certificate of any Northeast state.
The renewal of the scholarship is subject to good conduct and maintenance of prescribed attendance. The scholarship will be renewed for the next year of study on successful completion of the first year of study.

In his keynote address, Pandey stressed the need to blend practical skills with conceptual clarity, driven by innovation and originality. Guest speakers included Er Anupam Tiwari, leadership mentor; Mr Abhishek Kumar Singh, management expert; Dr Amitabha Maheshwari, Professor and Head of Commerce & Management; and Mr Praveen Parmeshwar, CEO of Lifology Foundation. They urged students to embrace discipline, creative thinking, passion-led careers, and purpose-driven life planning. Judges Prof Prakash Bajpai, former Dean of Life Science, Dr Harisingh Gour University, and Dr Sachin Tikar, Scientist 'F' at DRDO, evaluated the projects. Exhibits showcased hands-on solutions and research-based innovations, reflecting NEP 2020's emphasis on skill-based education. DU releases final seat allocation list for UG admissions; over 4k seats remain vacant

New Delhi: Undergraduate admissions at Delhi University for the 2025–26 academic session has entered its final leg, with the university releasing the third and final seat allocation list on Wednesday. A total of 7,061 seats were allotted in this round, including those under the ward quota and performance-based programmes such as Music, Bachelor of Fine Arts and Physical Education. Students can accept their allotted seats between Aug 13 and 17. So far, 67,582 candidates have secured admission to the 71,624 UG seats available, leaving roughly 4,000 seats vacant. These vacancies will be filled through the 7,061 seats offered in this round. Candidates can make their fee payments until 4.59pm on Aug 19. Any seats that remain vacant after this will be filled in subsequent rounds, details of which will be clear after fee payment closes. A total of 32,213 candidates had participated in this option. Of these, 886 were fresh applicants who had not registered for UG admissions earlier, but were allowed to do so through mid-entry. New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has conducted a series of surprise inspections in 10 schools across six states and Union Territories (UTs) to check for violations of norms, officials said on Wednesday. "The primary objective of the surprise inspections was to probe, scout out and ascertain whether the schools were functioning in compliance with the Board's norms as per the bye-laws of the Board and are not enrolling non-attending students while maintaining the academic and physical infrastructure in the school. "There were 10 teams, consisting of an officer of the Board and a Principal of a school affiliated with the Board, deployed for conducting the inspections. All of the inspections were executed in a synchronised manner at the same time in a short window to ensure that the surprise element remains intact so as to get accurate information about working and operations of the schools," the official said.
