UK Rejects Criticism That Recognizing Palestinian State Rewards Hamas The United Kingdom on Wednesday rejected criticism claiming it was rewarding the militant group Hamas by announcing plans to recognize a Palestinian state—unless Israel takes steps to improve conditions in Gaza and work toward peace. اضافة اعلان Shocking images of emaciated children in Gaza have gripped the world in recent days, and on Tuesday, a hunger monitor warned that the worst-case scenario—famine—is becoming a reality, calling for urgent action to prevent mass deaths. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's ultimatum, giving Israel until September to act, drew immediate rebuke from his counterpart in Jerusalem, who said such a move would effectively reward Hamas in the aftermath of the October 2023 events. Former U.S. President Donald Trump also commented, stating he doesn't believe Hamas should be 'rewarded' by granting Palestinian statehood recognition. UK Response: 'This Is Not About Hamas' Responding to the criticism, British Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander—tasked by the government with responding to media queries on Wednesday—said that this portrayal misrepresents the UK's intentions. Speaking to LBC Radio, she said: 'This is not a reward for Hamas. Hamas is a vile terrorist organization that has committed horrific atrocities. This is about the Palestinian people—about the children we see starving to death in Gaza.' She added: 'We must increase pressure on the Israeli government to lift restrictions and allow aid to enter Gaza.' France Taking Similar Step France also announced last week that it intends to recognize the Palestinian state in September. Successive UK governments have stated they would recognize Palestine when it would be most effective. In a televised speech on Tuesday, Starmer said the time has come, citing the immense suffering of Gaza's residents and warning that the viability of a two-state solution—Palestine living peacefully alongside Israel—is under threat. He explained that the UK would proceed with recognition during the UN General Assembly meetings in September, unless Israel takes tangible steps, including: Allowing more aid into Gaza Publicly renouncing the annexation of the West Bank Committing to a long-term peace process aimed at a two-state solution

Palestinian Ambassador Praises Jordan's Efforts in Delivering Aid to Gaza - Jordan News

The Palestinian Ambassador to Amman, Attallah Khairy, praised the steadfast efforts of Jordan—made under direct royal directives—to deliver the largest possible quantities of aid to the besieged Gaza Strip. اضافة اعلان In a statement to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Sunday, Khairy emphasized that His Majesty King Abdullah II has been tirelessly working on regional and international levels to stop the Israeli military aggression against Gaza and end the brutal war targeting the Palestinian people. He also noted the King's relentless efforts to open all possible land, sea, and air routes to deliver humanitarian aid to the Palestinian population suffering from what he described as an unprecedented man-made famine. Khairy highlighted that Jordan, under King Abdullah's leadership, is leveraging its strong relations with the United States, European nations, and others across the world to seek an end to the Israeli aggression and apply pressure on the occupation to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza. He warned that over two million Palestinians—including more than 100,000 children—face a slow, real death if the Israeli siege continues and humanitarian aid is obstructed. He warned that time is running out, and the lives of Gaza's residents, already devastated by hunger, illness, and nearly two years of war, are increasingly at risk. Khairy commended Jordan's continued delivery of aid by land and air, which helps alleviate the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza by providing them with the bare necessities of life denied due to the blockade. He stated, 'If Jordan were allowed to send 1,000 aid trucks to Gaza, it would do so gladly and without hesitation. The main obstacle lies with the Israeli occupation, which continues to block and hinder the delivery of aid to the people of Gaza.' The ambassador stressed that Jordan works around the clock on political, diplomatic, and legal fronts with its Arab and international partners and institutions to end the Israeli assault and reach a comprehensive solution for Gaza and the broader Palestinian cause—based on the two-state solution as the only guarantee for peace and stability in the region. He affirmed that Jordan's support for the Palestinian people is not limited to one area, noting the Kingdom has continuously extended assistance to the residents of Gaza for many years. Jordan, he said, took the initiative to deploy field hospitals—still operating today and providing medical services to hundreds of thousands. It also dispatched mobile bakeries that produce tens of thousands of loaves of bread daily and distribute them directly to the public, in addition to organizing air and land humanitarian aid convoys. Khairy also deeply appreciated His Majesty's royal gesture of hosting hundreds of injured Gazans of all ages for treatment in Jordanian hospitals, providing them and their companions with high-quality care and a warm, dignified reception. He conveyed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the Palestinian people and leadership to His Majesty the King, the Jordanian government, and the Jordanian people, affirming that Jordan has always stood firmly by Palestine in the darkest and most difficult times. 'Jordan,' he concluded, 'remains the closest, most loyal, and most committed supporter of Palestine, its people, and its cause.'

Ben-Gvir leads Al-Aqsa incursion on Jewish mourning day

More than 3,023 'Israeli' settlers stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem early Sunday, in one of the largest mass incursions witnessed this year. The provocative move coincided with the observance of Tisha B'Av, the Jewish day of mourning for the destruction of the ancient temple. Under tight protection by Israeli Occupation police, the settlers performed open Talmudic rituals, including what eyewitnesses described as 'epic prostration' with loud chanting of Torah verses. The scenes unfolded particularly in the eastern section of the mosque compound, causing outrage among Muslim worshippers and Palestinians in the city. The aggressive incursion aligns with a public campaign led by far-right 'Israeli' Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, who in June 2024 openly supported Jewish prayer inside the Al-Aqsa compound. In May 2025, he went further by sponsoring public singing and dancing in the sacred Islamic site. Sources at the scene reported that settler numbers continued to climb throughout the morning, with hundreds more lining up at the wooden bridge entrance near the Moroccan Gate, waiting for their turn to enter. Palestinian officials and religious leaders condemned the storming as a dangerous escalation and a blatant attempt to Judaize Al-Aqsa Mosque. The raid is being widely viewed as part of an 'Israeli' policy to impose a temporal and spatial division of the mosque, a move Palestinians say threatens the status quo of the holy site.

'Netanyahu enjoys dinner with Sara, Israeli hostages starve in Gaza': PM is under fire

Published August 3rd, 2025 - 09:49 GMT ALBAWABA - Israelis lash out at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after he was spotted at one of the restaurants enjoying a meal with his wife, Sara Netanyahu, while Israeli hostages are being starved in Gaza amid Tel Aviv's blockade of the entry of humanitarian aid. It all started after Hamas shared footage showing remaining Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip looking very thin amid the lack of food and acute hunger in the enclave, which is driven by the Israeli government as a weapon to pressure Hamas to surrender as the war continues. During this weekend, videos were shared by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad showing Israeli hostages Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski in a visibly fragile state amid the deteriorating situation in Gaza. — Sulaiman Ahmed (@ShaykhSulaiman) August 3, 2025 A person posted photos comparing Netanyahu, who's enjoying the best food with his wife Sara, while on the other side, an Israeli hostage looks pale and thin due to hunger in Gaza. An X user wrote: "Netanyahu eats the best food. While the Hostages and Palestinians starve." Another commented: "Silence is no longer justified, and faces stained with shame no longer deserve to represent us. Their lingering at the threshold of power is an insult to everyone who believes in justice and dignity. The time has come to say it clearly: Leave." 🚨⚡️ BREAKING:Hamas releases chilling video of starving Israeli hostage Evitar David—'I'm digging my own grave.'He looks skeletal, pleading to Netanyahu: 'I feel abandoned.'Israel taunts Palestinians: 'Who's REALLY starving in Gaza?' UN: 20,000+ Gaza kids suffer acute… — RussiaNews 🇷🇺 (@mog_russEN) August 3, 2025 Thousands of Israelis took to the streets in Tel Aviv to protest, calling the government for a quick deal with Hamas to save the remaining hostages, who are facing hunger and bad conditions in Gaza. Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski are among 50 hostages who remain in Gaza, at least 20 of whom are believed to be alive, according to CNN. © 2000 - 2025 Al Bawaba (
