OPEN// Egypt recovers two smuggled artifacts from Belgium
The move comes in light of the existing cooperation and coordination between the Egyptian Embassy in Brussels and the Belgian Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economy, as well as the federal prosecutor's office of Belgium, which resulted in recovering two ancient Egyptian items, according to a statement released by the foreign ministry on Friday.
The first artifact is a gilded wooden sarcophagus from the Ptolemaic era, while the other ancient piece is a beard of a wooden statue dating back to the ancient Egyptian civilization.
Speaking at the ceremony, Abu Zeid said Egypt attaches great importance to restoring all smuggled artifacts in accordance with the UNESCO 1970 Convention, extending thanks to Belgium's authorities for their cooperation in recovering the two relics.
The ambassador stated he looks forward to fostering collaboration with the Belgian government in retrieving Egyptian antiquities and raising awareness about the significance of countering the illicit trafficking of cultural property, which represents the common human heritage of the world. (MENA)

CBE governor signs MoU with People's Bank of China to deepen financial cooperation

Commenting on the signing, Hassan Abdalla said: 'This MoU reflects the evolution of the historic ties between Egypt and China. It demonstrates the commitment of both institutions to strengthening partnerships between our financial sectors amid global economic developments.' He also expressed optimism that this step would advance economic cooperation to 'more effective and progressive levels.' Pan Gongsheng highlighted that the agreement represents 'a pivotal step in advancing economic relations between Egypt and China,' noting that it would promote the exchange of best practices and regulatory coordination, paving the way for deeper bilateral financial collaboration.

Al-Sisi attends high-level African summit to strengthen continental coordination, regional integration
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi has arrived in Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, to take part in the 7th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting (MYCM) of the African Union (AU) — a key platform for advancing regional integration and aligning continental strategies. Presidential spokesperson Mohamed El-Shinawy stated that President Al-Sisi is participating in the summit in his capacity as Chair of the North Africa Regional Mechanism and Chairperson of the Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD). During the meeting, President Al-Sisi is expected to outline Egypt's efforts to strengthen the effectiveness of these mechanisms, with a particular focus on linking peace and security initiatives to broader development goals aimed at achieving sustainable stability across Africa. The MYCM, established in 2017 to replace the AU's traditional mid-year summits, convenes a select group of African leaders, including the Chairpersons of Regional Economic Communities (RECs), AU Commissioners, and heads of regional mechanisms. OPEN// President Sisi to participate in AU Mid-Year Coordination Summit Meeting on Sunday
MALABO, July 12 (MENA) - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will participate on Sunday in the opening session of the Seventh Mid-Year Coordination Summit Meeting of the African Union, due to be held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. AU Protocol Director Yousif Elkordofani will receive President Sisi upon his arrival. Then the president will have a meeting with President of Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. The opening session of the Malabo-hosted mid-year summit will begin with playing of the African Union anthem, followed by the national anthem of Equatorial Guinea, the host country of the meetings. Then, the president of Equatorial Guinea will deliver his speech, followed by speeches of Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat, and President of Angola Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, who currently chairs the African Union. After the opening speeches, President Sisi, accompanied by the African leaders participating in the summit, will have a photo-opportunity. After the adoption of the agenda, Moses Vilakati, the Commissioner for the Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment (ARBE) at the African Union Commission, will present a report. Then, the heads of regional economic groups and regional mechanisms will deliver their speeches. Afterwards, President Sisi will give two speeches in light of Egypt's chairmanship of the North African Regional Capability (NARC) and its leadership of the Steering Committee of Heads of State and Government of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD).
