Omni La Costa is hosting the NCAA mens and womens golf championships for a second year in a row. The North Course's 16th hole is the final par-3.
CARLSBAD, Calif. — After 54 holes of stroke play, the field of 30 teams at the NCAA Men's Golf Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa's North Course is almost after Sunday evening's cut.
Auburn, the defending national champion, paces the field with 18 holes to go, sitting at 10 under with a four-shot lead on Arizona State. In the individual race, Ole Miss junior Michael La Sasso holds the lead at 11-under 205.
However, the final spot in Monday's round hasn't been set yet. Georgia Tech and Wake Forest will have a playoff ahead of the final round after both teams finished at 17 over.
Come Monday, the top-eight teams after the final round of stroke play will make match play, which begins Tuesday morning.
Meet the teams who made the first cut at Omni La Costa:
NCAA Men's Golf Championship teams to make the cut
1. Auburn, 10 under
The defending national champions are all but locked into match play. The star duo of Brendan Valdes and Jackson Koivun are leading the way once again.
2. Arizona State, 6 under
The second-round leaders dropped back a bit Sunday, but a strong round Monday will secure the Sun Devils' spot in match play.
3. Oklahoma, 3 under
The Sooners led after the opening round and fell back a spot on the leaderboard after the third round, but they have a great shot to make match play after missing by a shot last year.
4. Florida, 1 under
The SEC and NCAA Bremerton Regional champs are continuing their strong postseason play and looking to get back into match play after winning the title in 2023.
T-5. Oklahoma State, 5 over
The Cowboys have had a mixed bag of results after the first three days but Preston Stout has been consistent. The Pokes need a strong round to advance Monday.
T-5. Texas, 5 over
Tied with OSU, Texas is also in a good spot going to Sunday but will need a strong finish to make match play.
7. Florida State, 9 over
The defending national runners-up shot 10 over on Sunday but remain in the top eight. The Seminoles were the fifth seed last year.
Texas Tech tied for the lowest round of the day at 2-under 286, moving 11 spots up the leaderboard to get into contention not only in the final round but into match play.
T-8. Ole Miss, 12 over
Michael La Sasso has been stellar for Ole Miss, but the rest of the lineup will need to be better Monday to get into match play.
T-8. Texas A&M, 12 over
A stellar day for the Aggies, with Phichaksn Maichon's 4-under 68 leading the way to get into match play. Another similar day Monday could mean match play.
11. Virginia, 13 over
Virginia made match play a year ago and has recovered after a 11-over start, but the Cavaliers need one more strong round to keep playing after Monday.
12. BYU, 14 over
BYU played its third round Thursday, and the Cougars sat at home and watched as they went from outside the cut to inside.
T-13. Pepperdine, 15 over
The Waveshave been consistent, shooting 5 over, 6 over and 4 over during the first three rounds, but they'll need to get closer to par or shoot in red numbers to make match play.
T-13. Vanderbilt, 15 over
Vandy was three shots better Sunday than it was Friday and Saturday, and they'll need a similar improvement Monday to make it back to match play.
Georgia Tech/Wake Forest, 17 over
The two teams will head to a playoff Monday morning to determine who plays in the final round of stroke play.
15 teams who missed cut at the NCAA Men's Golf Championships
California, Illinois, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCLA, UNLV, Georgia, New Mexico, USF, Purdue, Augusta, Colorado, San Diego, Troy

ESPN Reveals the Top College Football Play of the Last 25 Years

ESPN Reveals the Top College Football Play of the Last 25 Years originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There are some college football plays that stick around in fans' minds long after the final whistle blows. Advertisement ESPN ranked the top-25 plays since 2000 ahead of the 2025 season, listing some of the most memorable moments of the 21st century. Not surprisingly, the top of the list includes unlikely plays that led to championships. Ranked fourth is Alabama's improbable game-winning touchdown pass from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to DeVonta Smith in overtime of the 2018 national championship game against Georgia. Texas quarterback Vince Young's game-winning touchdown run against USC in the 2005 Rose Bowl ranks third. Boise State's "trickeration" in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma comes in at No. 2, with ESPN including both the fourth quarter "Hook and Ladder" play and the overtime "Statue of Liberty" call that helped propel the Broncos to victory. Advertisement Each of those plays were surprisingly successful in their own way, but one play since 2000 arguably sits above the rest: Auburn's "Kick Six" in the 2013 Iron Bowl against in-state rival Alabama. Alabama wide receiver Caleb Sims (29) grabs for Auburn cornerback Chris Davis (11) during the "Kick Six" play in 2013Amanda Sowards/Advertiser Some fourth-quarter chaos took place inside Auburn's Jordan-Hare Stadium to cap off the 2013 regular season. Coming off back-to-back national championships, head coach Nick Saban's Crimson Tide found themselves tied at 28 with 15 seconds remaining against the Tigers and head coach Gus Malzahn. Running back TJ Yeldon's 24-yard rush seemingly ran out the clock, but Alabama ultimately had a long field goal attempt after a review showed that Yeldon was pushed out of bounds with one second remaining. Advertisement Field goal kicker Cade Foster, who had missed three attempts that game, was replaced by Adam Griffith for the 57-yard try. And Griffith came up considerably short, giving Auburn defensive back Chris Davis a chance at a return. The rest is college football lore. "It's a play that will live in the hearts of Auburn fans, who can still hear the school's radio play-by-play announcer, the late Rod Bramblett, screaming 'Auburn's going to win the football game!' as Davis crossed the goal line," Chris Low wrote. Auburn fans went on to rush the field at Jordan-Hare Stadium after the No. 4 Tigers' unbelievable, last-second upset over then No. 1 Alabama. Advertisement The 2013 Iron Bowl remains as the last top-four matchup between the hated rivals and just so happens to feature one of the greatest plays in college football history. Auburn will host this year's Iron Bowl on Nov. 29 in an attempt to log its first win in the series since 2019. Auburn baseball catcher Cale Stricklin announces plans to enter transfer portal

Auburn baseball catcher Cale Stricklin announces plans to enter transfer portal The sophomore played in 20 games over the last two seasons at Auburn. A reserve catcher is moving on after spending two seasons in an Auburn uniform. Cale Stricklin, a sophomore from Watkinsville, Georgia, is departing Auburn after signing with the program ahead of the 2024 season. He announced Monday on social media that he is entering the transfer portal after playing two seasons in the orange and blue. Stricklin played in 20 games over the last two seasons, including six games during the 2025 season. In that span, he built a career average of .243 with five extra-base hits and eight RBI. He played in two games against Holy Cross in February, three games in March, and made his last appearance April 5 against Alabama. Last season, he recorded four at-bats with zero hits and a walk. Playing time became tough for Stricklin to grab at Auburn. Freshman Chase Fralick won the starting catcher role and became a key piece to the Auburn lineup by hitting .335 with four home runs and 41 RBI. Fralick's occupying of the catcher role pushed Ike Irish out of his primary position of catcher and into the outfield. Fralick is set to return, and Auburn has signed a catcher to its 2025 class, Taylor Belza of Grafton, Ohio. Lucas Steele, who played outfield and served as a designated hitter for the Tigers in 2025, is also a catcher and could be used should an emergency arise. To fill needs left behind by several players at key positions, Auburn has added five players from the transfer portal since the final out of the 2025 season, including Texas State infielder Ryne Farber and Western Kentucky pitcher Drew Whalen.
