The Lion In Winter heading back to France for Prix Jacques Le Marois

Winter favourite for the Guineas and Derby, a setback in the spring held up his preparations for the Classics and he missed Newmarket, making his comeback in the Dante at York when he could only finish sixth before trailing home well beaten in the Derby.
Dropped markedly in trip to seven furlongs for the Prix Jean Prat, Aidan O'Brien's charge showed plenty of his old sparkle, beaten just a short neck and a short head into third by Woodshauna.
Speaking at Navan on Sunday, stable representative Chris Armstrong said: 'It was lovely to get him back on track after all the promise he showed last year.
'He has come out of the race (at Deauville) very well, and everyone is happy with him at home.
'He is going to go to the Jacques Le Marois next in Deauville. Obviously, it is going to be a fascinating race during the summer.
'In fairness, the horse adapted coming right back from a mile and a half to seven (furlongs) last week pretty quickly.
'Back up to a mile in the Jacques Le Marois should suit him.'

Paddy, whose sole career victory came aboard Dermot Weld's Grappa Nonino at Dundalk in March, is the son of the late, great Pat Smullen. The nine-time Irish Champion Jockey died aged 43 in September 2020 having lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. Smullen Snr - who won the 2016 Derby on Harzand and 2003 2,000 Guineas on Refuse To Bend - was famed for his 'enduring partnership' with Weld. So it was fitting that his hugely promising jockey son's first winner would come on one of Weld's horses. He will be aiming to chalk one up for O'Brien on Tuesday, though, as he gets the leg up on Mont St Michel. The 10-11 favourite for a 1m6f race at Killarney runs in the iconic Kyprios black and white silks of Moyglare Stud. Smullen Snr wore the same when he rode Refuse To Bend to victory in the 2003 2,000 Guineas. Mont St Michel, a four-year-old colt, was close up behind the now-retired Kyprios on his last run and is co-owned by the Coolmore juggernaut of John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith. Paddy, 17, spoke so well after his breakthrough win - and explained how much it meant to him to follow in his old's man footsteps. He said: "I wasn't thinking about winning but just getting as good a position as I can. "I came out in front and was delighted. It doesn't feel real at all. It all went way too fast, it's amazing. "There's lots of sentimental value as well. It's brilliant to follow in his footsteps. "Dermot and the whole family have been amazing to me. I'm happy to repay them for what they've done for me." One punter commented afterwards: "Got shivers when I saw DK Weld and P Smullen on the card… absolutely brilliant, best of luck in the future." While another wrote: "Best of luck Paddy, your father would be so proud of you." And it's clear O'Brien clearly sees some of that talent too, jocking him up on a potential stayer of the future. The 28-year-old midfielder, who had an injury blighted spell at Rangers under Steven Gerrard after being handed his Liverpool debut by Brendan Rodgers, is joining Waterford Utd. 4 Jordan Rossiter of Rangers Credit: Getty 4 Jordan Rossiter has put pen to paper for Waterford 4 Jordan Rossiter celebrates a goal for Bury with ex-Celtic defender Eoghan O'Connell Credit: Reuters They currently sit seventh in the Irish top flight, and he becomes the second signing of manager John Coleman's transfer window. He appeared set for great things when being handed his debut by future Celtic boss Rodgers at Anfield but injury played a part even before he arrived at Ibrox. He was restricted to just 16 appearances for the Ibrox men over the course of his three-year spell, before loan moves to Bury Town and Fleetwood. He went on to sign permanently at Fleetwood and become captain, before spells at Bristol Rovers, Shrewsbury Town and Oldham Athletic - where he won promotion through the National League's playoff system. He told the club's official site: 'I'm delighted to be here, I'm looking forward to getting going and hopefully getting going as soon as I can. "It was a phone call with John Coleman & Danny Ventre. "I know them both quite well, and just the way the club is going. "I spoke to a few people here before I signed, so I knew it was a real exciting project here. I watched Friday's 2-0 win in the Derby against Cork, so I can't wait to get going now'. "I'm looking forward to working with John & Danny. I've obviously played against John's sides a few times when I was at Fleetwood & he was Accrington Stanley. "I know what his teams are about – always going to be competitive & I'm looking forward to playing for him.' Rangers boss Russell Martin opens up on transfer plans as he delivers updates on Dessers and Igamane "I can bring a good bit of experience to the group. I just love playing football wherever that is, so whether that's Liverpool, Rangers or Waterford, I just want to enjoy my football, so I'm looking forward to getting out there on the RSC pitch.' 4 Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
