The shooting just after midnight on Friday at Villa Casa Santisya near Munggu Beach in the district of Badung killed Zivan Radmanovic, 32, from Melbourne. The second victim, who is 34 and also from Melbourne, was beaten, said Badung Police chief Arif Batubara.
'We cannot yet determine the motive,' Batubara said, adding that an investigation is under way. The two Australians were rushed to hospitals in Denpasar, the provincial capital.

According to police, the villa had only three rooms occupied with a total of five guests when the shooting happened. The two victims' wives were also there and another foreign tourist, Batubara said.
Radmanovic was shot in a bathroom, where police found 17 bullet casings and two intact bullets.
At least three witnesses at the villa told investigators that two Australian gunmen, one wearing an orange jacket with a dark helmet and another wearing a dark green jacket, a black mask and a dark helmet, arrived on a scooter at the villa around midnight.

3 dead in shooting at Target department store in Texas, suspect arrested

A gunman opened fire on Monday outside a Target department store in Austin, Texas, killing at least three people, and a suspect has been arrested, police said. Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said the suspect stole a car after the attack and fled the scene. He then crashed that car and stole another before being captured in south Austin, where he was taken into custody, she said during a news conference. Davis said responding officers found three people who had been fatally shot in the Target car park. 'This is a very sad day for Austin. It's a very sad day for us all and my condolences go out to the families,' she said. Davis said she had no information to release about the victims. Davis said the suspect is a white male who appears to be 32 years old and has 'a mental health history'.

New video appears to show Israeli settler killing unarmed Palestinian activist in West Bank

New video footage appears to show the moment a Palestinian activist was killed as an Israeli settler fired toward him during a confrontation with unarmed Palestinians in the occupied West Bank last month. The video released on Sunday by B'Tselem, an Israeli human rights group, shows Israeli settler Yinon Levi firing a gun toward the person filming. The footage cuts away, but the camera keeps rolling as the person moans in pain. B'Tselem says it obtained the video from the family of Awdah Hathaleen, 31, an activist, English teacher and father of three who was shot dead on July 28, and who they said had filmed it. Levi, who was shown firing his gun twice in a video shot by another witness and obtained by Associated Press, was briefly detained and then released from house arrest by an Israeli court, which cited lack of evidence. The shooting occurred in Umm al-Khair, a village that has long weathered settler violence in an area profiled in the Oscar-winning film No Other Land. Settler attacks on Palestinians have spiked since the outbreak of the Israel-Gaza war, as have attacks by Palestinian militants. Indonesian court orders public caning for 2 men over gay acts

An Islamic court in Indonesia's conservative Aceh province on Monday sentenced two men to public caning, 80 times each, after Islamic religious police caught them engaged in what the court deemed were sexual acts: hugging and kissing. The trial at the Islamic Shariah District Court in Banda Aceh, the provincial capital, was held behind closed doors. Judges have the authority to limit public access in such a case and open it only for the verdict. The two men, aged 20 and 21, were arrested in April after residents saw them entering the same bathroom at Taman Sari city park and reported it to police patrolling the area. The police broke into the toilet and caught the men kissing and hugging, which the court considered to be a sexual act. The lead judge, Rokhmadi M. Hum, said the two college students were 'legally and convincingly' proven to have violated Islamic law by committing acts that lead to gay sexual relations. The court didn't publicly identify the men. Monday's verdict was the fifth time that Aceh has sentenced people to public caning for homosexuality since the Islamic law was implemented. Photo: AP Prosecutors previously sought 85 strokes of the cane for each, but the three-judge panel decided on what they described as a lenient punishment because the men were outstanding students who were polite in court, cooperated with authorities and had no previous convictions.
