Naslen leads the 2025 Malayalam film Alappuzha Gymkhana, which features Sandeep Pradeep as his friend Valuth Sharif.
In a recent chat with The Cue Studio, Sandeep addressed the trolls that drew comparisons with the two young actors. Reacting to this, Sandeep said that there are a lot of such discussions on social media, but he doesn't delve too much into it.
Explaining further, 'Naslen is a very popular star, and he has been around for quite some time now. I just came now. When a new person comes in, it would naturally lead to comparisons.'
Naslen, who made a mark with his debut as a schoolboy in Thanneer Mathan Dinangal, went on to do notable roles in films such as Home before catapulating to fame with Premalu, which also starred Mamitha Baiju. Reacting to his Alappuzha Gymkhana star's popularity, Sandeep said, 'Naslen is in the frontline of heroes in the teenage category. After that only, we all came. I hope more people come. Anyways, our friendship hasn't been affected in any way because of all this.'
Sandeep Pradeep joined Naslen in director Khalid Rahman's film, Alappuzha Gymkhana, a buddy sports comedy. The film revolves around Jojo (Naslen) who along with his friends try to secure college admission by participating in sports competition after failing in their plus-two exams. You can stream Alappuzha Gymkhana on SonyLiv and OTTplay Premium in multiple languages, including Hindi.
Sandeep also played one of the lead roles in Padakkalam, which also featured Malayalam actors Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Sharaf U Dheen. The film, which weaves in fantasy elements, is streaming on JioHotstar.

Lights, camera, action! Shwetha fights off odds to plot her comeback

KOCHI: Shwetha Menon's election as president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) marks a stunning comeback. As she filed her nomination for the post, the actor, who has been active in Malayalam cinema since 1991, encountered many obstacles. An FIR was filed with the Ernakulam Central police station on August 6 charging her with 'transmitting sexually explicit content' and 'indecent representation' of women through her roles in certain films, some of them widely acclaimed. Shwetha, who served as vice-president of AMMA from 2021 to 2024, was the first woman to hold that position. In 2022, she resigned from the internal complaints committee expressing disappointment over 'inaction' against Vijay Babu following rape allegations against the actor-producer. Commenting on the case against her, Shwetha said she believes it was part of an election stunt. 'Because the films the petitioner mentioned were released some 10-12 years ago. I don't understand the basis of the case. The case is now in court. I cannot comment on it,' she told reporters on Friday. Shwetha became a household name in the state through her roles in films such as Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha, Penpattanam, Thalsamayam Oru Penkutty, Salt n' Pepper, Kalimannu, etc. She won the state award for best actress twice for Paleri Manikyam and Salt n' Pepper. 'It is always better when women fight and win. It is good that Shwetha fought and won,' said Devan, Shwetha's opponent. The new chair hopes to see past members returning to AMMA. About members who left the association following the actor assault case in 2017, she said, they can return to the organisation. 'They can come back. They are all part of the family. They are most welcome. I am willing to invite them personally. We will work together. There were many discussions here. The issues will be solved,' Shwetha said. reel power Total members: 506 Votes polled: 298 President: Shwetha Menon General secretary: Kukku Parameswaran Vice-presidents: Jayan Cherthala and Lakshmi Priya Joint secretary: Ansiba Hassan Treasurer: Unni Shivapal Executive committee members: 11 Anjali Nair Asha Aravind Sarayu Mohan Neena Kurup Joy Mathew Kailash Nandu Poduval Santhosh Keezhattoor Tini Tom Vinu Mohan Sijoy Varghese Poll Absentees Mammootty Manju Warrier Indrajith Prithviraj

Not Amitabh Bachchan Or Shah Rukh Khan! Ex-India Cricketer Admires Just One Actor, Has Watched His One Movie '200 Times'

A former India fast bowler professes his love for movies and music while revealing his all-time favourite movie is Mughal-e-Azam. Karsan Ghavri will go down in Indian cricket history as one of its finest utility players. Known for his fast bowling, Ghavri was more than a handy batter. Part of India's two World Cup campaigns (1975 and 1979), the left-arm pacer played 39 Tests and 19 ODIs between 1974 and 1981. He scored over 1000 runs and claimed 124 wickets during his international career. Numbers from his India career may not be outstanding, but Ghavri, on several occasions, produced several performances – with the bat and the ball. One of his most memorable shows was during a Test series against West Indies at home when he claimed 27 wickets. Then at the Sydney Test of 1981, he scored 64 runs on a challenging pitch and helped India secure a win by an innings and two runs. His career-best score of 86 came when batting at No. 9 in a massive innings win over Australia at Wankhede. With his medium pace, Ghavri took four five-wicket hauls and five four-wicket hauls. Besides cricket, Ghavri loves watching movies and his all-time favourite actor is the late Dilip Kumar. 'Dilip Kumar is the only actor I really admire, and I am a big fan. There are several great actors – Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, Balraj Sahni. But from No. 1 to 10, it has to be only Dilip Kumar," Ghavri said on The Vickey Lalwani Show. 'Among the female actors, it varies. Waheeda Rahman and Vyjayanthimala – they are all great artists," he adds. When pressed on any female actor he admires from the current lot, Ghavri said, 'Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Kiara Advani now. They are very good, talented artists." Ghavri reveals to have watched Dilip-starrer Mughal-e-Azam 200 times and even today, he drops everything he's doing whenever the movie is on TV. 'Only one (favourite movie). Mughal-e-Azam. I have watched it at least 200 times. Maybe 10-20 times in theatres. Even if it's on TV today, I don't watch cricket or talk to anyone. I close the room and watch Mughal-e-Azam," he said. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
