Charlize Theron Under Fire For Making 'Snide' Remark Made About Celebrities At Jeff Bezos' Wedding
While speaking at a charity gala for her foundation, the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, the actress joked that those who received an invite to the exclusive event "suck."
Though her comment seemed lighthearted and without malice, the wedding itself drew real protests, with critics accusing Jeff Bezos of paying small taxes despite his billionaire status.
While the world is still reeling from Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez tying the knot in Venice, Charlize Theron has trolled the attendees of the lavish nuptials.
Present at the ceremony were notable figures such as Tom Brady, the Kardashians, Ivanka Trump, Oprah Winfrey, Usher, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Orlando Bloom. The guest list also included several other high-profile stars and family members of the couple, which in total was rumored to be around 200.
However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Theron, who claimed not to have received an invite to the wedding, took a jab at the attendees during a charity event she was hosting.
"I think we might be the only people who did not get an invite to the Bezos wedding. But that's OK because they suck and we're cool," the 49-year-old said at the event organized for her non-profit Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project.
Theron's comments have since gone viral, with several slamming the actress as a "hater" and calling what she said "snide" while claiming she was "jealous."
One person on X wrote, "Why all the hate for that wedding? I thought it was tacky, but it's their cash, their call, their life. Those Hollywood elitists bashing it weren't even invited. Venice gave the green light, so deal with it. Their money, their party."
Another noted, "Another Hollywood Elite p-ssed that she wasn't invited to the wedding?"
A third individual commented, "Was she mad she wasn't invited? I mean, yeah, they suck but so does she."
Amid the criticism, some sided with Theron and called out Bezos and Sanchez's lavish nuptials.
A fan wrote, "There is something wrong when the founder of Amazon can spend 50 million on a wedding while the employees in Amazon warehouses are working to the bone for a pittance."
While her remark appeared to be made in good humor, the wedding wasn't without controversy.
Ahead of the nuptials, protesters gathered multiple times in Venice, vowing to disrupt the celebration.
Some local activists claimed that their protest was rooted in opposition to the "hubris" and "entitlement" of Bezos, whom they labeled as a "technocrat feudal overlord."
Two activist groups, Greenpeace and Everyone Hates Elon, also unveiled a massive anti-Bezos banner that boldly displayed the words "If you can rent Venice for your wedding, you can pay more tax."
The groups also released a joint statement to emphasize their demands, pointing out that Bezos pays far less in taxes than someone with his level of wealth should.
"Jeff Bezos is the second-richest man in the world, yet is reported to pay a 1.1% true tax rate," they said, per the Daily Mail. "The multi-million-dollar wedding is reportedly happening over three days, with the wedding ring alone worth as much as $5 million."
Despite the backlash surrounding the nuptials, reports claim that the city of Venice was expected to generate over $1 billion from hosting the celebration.
This figure reportedly accounts for nearly 68% of the city's annual tourism revenue, driven by extensive logistics arranged for the couple and their guests, along with hospitality services.
As part of the wedding festivities, the couple reserved dozens of water taxis, effectively booking out a large portion of the city's fleet.
Guests also filled nearly all of Venice's top luxury hotels, including the Aman Hotel, where Bezos and Sánchez stayed, along with the St. Regis, Gritti Palace, Cipriani, and Hotel Danieli.
Given the massive figures, it is no wonder that Daniela Santanchè, the minister of tourism in Italy, earlier called for activists to "abandon the controversy and focus on opportunities."
"This is not just a private event but a concrete driving force for the entire sector," she said in a news release, per CNN. Venice has all it takes to transform it into an opportunity for relaunch and promotion."
Following the wedding, the newly married couple has reportedly left Venice to begin their honeymoon.
Although they haven't disclosed their exact plans, a source revealed that they would first stay in the Torcello area before heading to Nicelli Airport, per The Mirror.
From there, Bezos and Sánchez are expected to board a helicopter that will take them back to Bezos' $500 million superyacht, Koru, where they will set sail for Taormina in Sicily.
The historic destination is said to be a favorite of the couple, who fell in love with it during a sailing trip around the region last year.
In Taormina, they are expected to stay at the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace, the same hotel famously featured as a primary filming location in "The White Lotus" Season 2.

Giorgio Armani Marks His Brand's 50th Year With Multiple Celebrations
Designer Giorgio Armani (Photo by Barbara White Sloan/WWD/Penske Media via Getty Images) It seems 1975 was a good year for design. Several brands, mainly Italian, are celebrating 50th anniversaries in 2025. To wit, Roberto Cavalli, Santoni, John Hardy, and the "King of Fashion" himself, Giorgio Armani, are all marking significant milestones this year. When the Northern Italian-born designer founded his namesake label at 41, he was already well-regarded in the industry, having established himself as a menswear designer at Cerrutti 1881, a freelance fashion designer for brands Allegri, Bagutta, Gibò, and Montedoro, among others, and his early career included roles in sales and as a window dresser at La Rinascente. With the support of friend Sergio Galeotti, he founded Giorgio Armani S.p.A. in Milan on July 24th, 1975. Now at 91, Mr. Armani is still at the helm of his namesake brand with plans to retire in the next year or so. To celebrate the anniversary, the brand has announced an exhibit and pop-up to mark the occasion. The Giorgio Armani Pop-up at the Sunset Beach Hotel in Shelter island. In Milan, the designer will launch the Armani/Archivio project on Saturday, August 30th, during the Venice Film Festival. Armani/Archivo is an interactive digital platform that showcases content curated from a comprehensive cataloging of the Giorgio Armani collections, aiming to preserve the brand's pioneering legacy while serving as a bridge between past and future. In the coming months, the platform will be housed in a physical site just outside of Milan. Additionally, the brand is planning celebrations during the upcoming Milan Fashion Week, also known as MFW, centered on the debut of its Spring 2026 women's collections. On Wednesday, September 24th, Giorgio Armani will open a curated showcase to the public at the Pinacoteca di Brera gallery. It's a first for the 'Brera Art Gallery, the main public gallery regarded as having one of the foremost collections of Italian paintings dating from the 13th to the 20th centuries. It is also the first time they have hosted an exhibition of fashion, featuring over 150 archival Giorgio Armani looks spanning the brand's five decades. Rounding out the week will be the closing show of MFW in the historic Courtyard of Honour at Palazzo Brera, featuring the Giorgio Armani Spring/Summer 2026 Women's Collection alongside select menswear looks from the collection presented in June. Actress Mamie Gummer attends the Giorgio Armani But the brand is busy with some other activations this summer on this side of the Atlantic before the big 50thfete. Coinciding with the same anniversary date, the brand unveiled its first Giorgio Armani Mare pop-up Stateside, featuring the 2025 collection. After launching several iterations in some of the world's most coveted summer destinations such as Porto Cervo, Capri, and Cannes, the coastal lifestyle collection—which includes swimwear, resort wear, linen tailoring, beachside ready accessories, towels, and more—will be the focus of a pop-up at Sunset Beach on Shelter Island. To toast the 10-day ephemeral boutique and the summer collection inspired by easy Amalfi Coast living, the brand hosted a sunset cocktail event that brought the Mediterranean lifestyle to the Hamptons. The popular hotel—located on the island affectionately referred to as the "Island of Peace" and situated between Long Island's North and South Forks—has transformed its façade, game room, and beachfront to evoke a beachfront vis-à-vis tropical palms in shades of grey and turquoise with contrasting warm wooden tones of flooring. Orlando Bloom Reveals He was ‘Triggered' by ‘Partner' Which Led Him to Therapy—as He Sells $7M Los Angeles Home Following Katy Perry Split
Actor has confessed to being 'triggered' by his ex-'partner,' leading him to seek therapy to heal—after he parted with his $7 million Los Angeles home following his shocking split from . The 48-year-old—who separated from the 'Hot N Cold' hitmaker, 40, in June—got candid about his emotional journey to healing using the Hoffman Method, which is a week-long personal growth retreat where people identify and heal negative patterns. While speaking on Oprah Winfrey's podcast, 'The Oprah Podcast,' Bloom admitted that he had struggled with toxic behaviors and turned to the Hoffman Method to help him change his ways. He explained, 'I went to the Hoffman process about 10 years ago because I'd been triggered in a dynamic with my partner that had led me into a pattern of behavior that was very similar to the way in which I had grown up with my mother.' The actor noted that his childhood left him feeling 'confused' about how to love and how to receive affection. 'I was very confused about how to navigate the dynamics and the feelings that I was having,' he added before revealing that a fellow actor helped push him to the Hoffman Method. 'I was just about to turn 40, and it was really the greatest gift I could give myself, and the greatest reveal in my life up until that point. I felt like I'd almost been born again. It felt like I did 10 years of therapy in one week,' he added. The Hollywood heavyweight further noted that healing himself helped him become a better parent to 4-year-old daughter, Daisy, whom he shares with Perry, and Flynn, 13, with whom she shares with ex Miranda Kerr. 'I think my job as a parent now is to allow my children to grow without getting in their way. It's sort of like, don't get in the way of anyone else's journey. 'Don't let anyone get in the way of your journey, and just be grateful for the opportunities that are presented to you, and see the challenges of the dynamic that are in front of you as an opportunity for you to grow.' He noted that he is not 'perfect,' adding that he is learning as the days go on. 'I'm not saying I'm perfect. It's not easy at all, but it is something that without the Hoffman process, I don't think I could say I would have understood. I think I could have been easily triggered.' 'Now, even if I am and if we come across a situation that we're in conflict about [something], I can take a step back. 'I can let some time pass and then we can re-engage in a conversation where I'm looking at everything from [Flynn's] perspective whilst trying to lay in my thinking without it overwhelming or getting in the way of his process,' he shared. Although the actor didn't name the partner that 'triggered' him, Bloom was in a long-term relationship with Kerr at the time of the incident. His candid confession comes after exclusively revealed that he had sold his four-bedroom, four-bathroom California home one month after listing it. The home was originally built in 1959. Mexican architect Miguel Angel Aragonés, who sold the home to Bloom, had expanded and enhanced the home's midcentury modern architecture. Bloom's renovations included a new, zero-edge pool with an ipe wood deck. The outdoor area features bulit-in seating and a fire pit, and can be accessed via floor-to-ceiling sliders from several rooms in the house. The actor initially listed the abode in 2019 for $9 million, after having paid $7 million for the pad in 2017. The 4,011-square-foot, single-story home has four bedrooms and four baths. It sits on a hillside overlooking the city and the ocean. A mature hedge out front provides privacy. Bloom also opened up the floor plan, expanding the kitchen and allowing in more natural light. He added bespoke Poliform fixtures and finishes as well as indoor LED lighting. The master suite also had some work done. After the actor moved in, he opened the space so it could open out to the pool and has generous closet space. The master bath has a wet room with a free-standing tub and shower. There's a private patio right outside the floor-to ceiling windows. One of the home's more fascinating features is a sunken conversation pit lined with sumptuous sofas in the living room. News of the actor's home sale comes after it was revealed that Perry and Bloom had called it quits. The former couple began dating in 2016 after meeting at a Golden Globes after-party, where they fought over an In 'N' Out burger, the singer previously revealed during an episode of 'American Idol.' Trump unloads in late-night rants threatening to prosecute news networks, Beyonce, Oprah and Kamala Harris
Despite the lateness of the hour in Scotland, Donald Trump remained vocal on social media Saturday, unleashing a late-night rant in which he threatened to prosecute Kamala Harris, Oprah Winfrey and Beyonce while lashing out at news networks whose 'licenses could, and should, be revoked.' The president, who is spending the weekend golfing in the UK, wrote at 7.45 p.m. ET (12.45 a.m. local BST) that he was reviewing the large amount of money spent by his Democratic opponents 'probably illegally' during the 2024 election. Trump claimed Beyonce was paid $11 million to endorse Harris, and that she 'never sang, not one note, and left the stage to a booing and angry audience!' He also claimed that Democrats paid $3 million in 'expenses' to Oprah and $600,000 to civil rights activist and TV personality Reverend Al Sharpton. There is no evidence that any of the people named in Trump's rant were paid for their endorsement by the Democratic campaign. 'YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PAY FOR AN ENDORSEMENT. IT IS TOTALLY ILLEGAL TO DO SO,' the president wrote in a Truth Social post. 'Can you imagine what would happen if politicians started paying for people to endorse them. All hell would break out!' 'Kamala, and all of those that received Endorsement money, BROKE THE LAW. They should all be prosecuted!' he added. Oprah previously said she 'was not paid a dime' to appear alongside Harris, whose campaign covered $1 million in production costs for a live-streamed event. 'The people who worked on that production needed to be paid. And were. End of story,' Oprah said at the time. The Harris campaign also has denied ever paying Beyonce for her endorsement. The campaign similarly paid her production company Parkwood Production Media LLC $165,000, according to Federal Elections Commission records. Beyonce's mother Tina Knowles previously said the accusation that her daughter was paid for her endorsement is a 'lie' and that Beyonce also paid for the flights for herself and her team to and from the event. It's not the first time that Trump has targeted Beyonce and other celebrities over their alleged 'illegal campaign donations' late at night. The president lashed out at the Lemonade singer as well as Bruce Springsteen and Bono in a 2 a.m. Truth Social post on May 19. In another pair of posts shortly after 1 a.m. while still in Scotland, Trump threatened NBC and ABC, and suggested that networks he believes are 'political pawns for the Democrat Party' should be stripped of their licenses to broadcast. 'It has become so outrageous that, in my opinion, their licenses could, and should, be revoked! MAGA,' he wrote Trump has also routinely used threats of legal action to threaten media outlets, publishers and journalists over what he perceives as antagonistic coverage. Following lawsuits against the networks during his campaign, Trump reached massive financial settlements with both ABC News and CBS News, sparking fears among press freedom advocates. Such fears have not been allayed, after the president this week filed a $10 billion lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch, The Wall Street Journal and its parent companies, as well as two journalists, following the newspaper's publication of the president's alleged birthday letter to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. That suit came fresh of the back of a $16 million settlement with Paramount for a lawsuit concerning the editing of an episode of 60 Minutes interview with Harris, which the president claimed was unfair to his campaign.
