Mariah Carey's three-word response to Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's wedding goes viral
Mariah Carey 's three-word response to Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez 's lavish Italian wedding has gone viral. The singer, 56, was asked about her thoughts on the billionaire Amazon founder's $50million nuptials over the weekend, and her reply was interpreted by some fans as subtle shade. 'What did you think about Jeff Bezos ' wedding?' a photographer questioned the We Belong Together hitmaker as she walked down the street, in a clip that's gone viral on X. 'I wasn't there,' the Grammy winner replied, with fans quickly comparing the response to Mariah's infamous 'I don't know her' quote back in 2003, in regards to music rival Jennifer Lopez. Mariah was then asked: 'Were you not invited or what?' She graciously chuckled and replied, 'Oh, don't turn this into that.' Fans were left amused by her reply, with one writing, 'I don't think she knows them [crying emoji].' Carey coined the seemingly dismissive phrase in 2003 when she was asked on her thoughts about Lopez. Smiling, she simply replied, 'I don't know her.' One fan left a meme of her saying the quote underneath the new video. 'Who? What wedding she doesn't know it,' another person added with a laughing emoji. 'Her saying I wasn't there she clearly knows who he is come on,' someone else added with another crying out laughing emoji. 'Love she had a sense of humor about it.' Mariah cut a stylish figure, wearing a long-sleeve black top with blue jeans and open-toe black platform heels for the outing. She wore her long blonde tresses in a side ponytail and shielded her eyes with a pair of sunglasses. Jeff and his bride exchanged vows at the most lavish celebrity wedding for a generation, attended by the world's most famous stars. Though Mariah wasn't at the star-studded three-day wedding extravaganza, the nuptials were attended by numerous A-listers. Among the 200 VIP guests was Sydney Sweeney, Kim Kardashian, her sister Kylie Jenner as well as mom Kris Jenner, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Brady, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner, and Orlando Bloom. As the world's wealthiest men and women gathered in a 16th-century basilica at Giorgio Maggiore island to celebrate the Amazon mogul's nuptials, they brought together a total wealth of more than $461billion. They included tech billionaires, reality TV dynasties and legends of film and TV - who danced away among the glittering Venetian canals until the early hours of this morning. Reportedly costing $20million and stirring fury among the local residents, stars were treated to a $1,000-a-head meal while there was a strict no-phone policy at the 'extremely intimate' affair. The celebration continued this past weekend as the couple spent their 'honeymoon' partying on a yacht with recently split couple, Katy Perry and Orlando, in Capri. Meanwhile Mariah showed off her jaw-dropping weight loss during a trip to Disneyland this weekend. In a nod to her surroundings, she wore a pair of Minnie Mouse ears with oversized sunglasses as she shielded herself from the sun. Known for her diva ways, Mariah was assisted by an aide who held an umbrella over her head to prevent the sun beating down. Earlier this month, the hitmaker then sat down with DJs Ebro Darden and Zane Lowe to chat in LA, where she teased her upcoming sixteenth studio album. It marks her first LP in eight years and first since partnering with new music company Gamma for her comeback, after leaving label Epic Records, who released her last album Caution in 2018. Last month, Mariah released the lead single, Type Dangerous, which debuted at number 95 on the Billboard Hot 100. Chatting to Zane and Ebro, she teased: 'What is next? Well it's the album coming out! I don't want tell too much about it because I just don't want to reveal the whole thing.' However, the All I Want For Christmas star confirmed that the album was finished and would be made up of '11 or 12 songs', before adding: 'We got some Mariah ballads' to cheers from the crowd. She continued: 'Second single is coming soon, I've very excited about it. It's very summery, I like the beat as well'. According to Forbes, the songstress, who has 19 number one singles, is aiming to get her 20th chart topper with Type Dangerous.

Gayle King's return to CBS sparks uproar after controversial attendance at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez wedding
Gayle King returned to CBS Mornings on Monday after she controversially attended the multi-million dollar wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez last week. The host, 70, was back on the network show alongside colleagues Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson, with the trio presenting the latest headlines from the devastating floods in Texas. Gayle's appearance comes days after she was spotted in Venice, Italy, with good pal Oprah Winfrey for the Amazon founder's lavish nuptials. Taking to social media, some viewers were less than impressed to see Gayle back on their screens and voiced their disappointment. On Instagram, one said: 'Used to be a huge fan of Gayle, but no more. Just go hang out with your billionaire friends and ruin the earth.' 'You were so genuine and now you're becoming just too much,' sniped another. 'And she's back from the fancy wedding,' said a third. Over on X, formerly Tiwtter, another continued: 'Gayle King is back to CBS Mornings after attending the Robber Barron's wedding. I'm surprised how mad and disappointed in her I am.' A fifth added: 'Guess I've fallen into the trap of thinking she was partially in the news business when she was really in the entertainment and Gayle business.' Last month, Gayle travelled to Venice for the divisive wedding of Amazon tycoon Jeff and his new wife, Lauren. She was one of hundreds of celebrity guests at the extravagant big day, which also included Kim Kardashian and Sydney Sweeney. Gayle was spotted with her pal Oprah waving at the crowd as they boarded a boat that brought them to the behind-the-scenes bash from the Venice Marco Polo Airport on June 25. The two were seen again leaving the Gritti Palace Hotel together on June 27, before being whisked away again. The celebrations kicked off June 26 and lasted until Saturday, June 29, with Lauren and Jeff renting out a number of locales to ring the occasion. During coverage of the wedding, a CBS News reporter called out the wedding as 'performative' — despite Gayle's attendance. Reporting live from Venice for CBS Mornings, correspondent Seth Doane delivered a pointed summary of the over-the-top nuptials and their celebrity guest list. 'Guests, many bold-faced names, shuttled around in boats. Lots and lots of boats,' Doane offered of the Venice setting. 'Representing media, Oprah, and yes, our own Gayle King; tech, Bill Gates; sports, Tom Brady; fashion - that's Tommy Hilfiger - and film,' he added, as footage rolled of King boarding a chauffeured boat alongside close friend Oprah Winfrey. 'Some of the 200 invited were in a category all their own. There was a performative aspect to some of this. 'Even if not everyone got their shot,' he continued, as images of other stars like Kim Kardashian accompanied the report. 'Not much came from the ceremony itself,' Doane added, saying the event left 'some questioning whether we were seeing another gilded age on gaudy display.' He added: 'Protesters were decrying Amazon's impact on jobs and small business here in Italy and calling out inequality and elitism. The CBS Mornings host's appearance at the wedding comes after she joined Lauren on the divisive Blue Origin space mission 'Some used the attention to lament high housing costs, damage from over-tourism, and just the excess of it all.' Gayle's controversial friendship with Lauren was cemented in May when the duo jetted off to space on Jeff's Blue Origin rocket for 11 minutes, along with Katy Perry, Kerianne Flynn, Aisha Bowe, and Amanda Nguyễn. The trip ignited a media storm and was branded a publicity stunt and a 'gluttonous' display of wealth by critics, who additionally said the mission lacked purpose. At the time, Gayle hit back at critics during an interview with People and told the publication that anyone 'criticizing it doesn't really understand what is happening here.' 'We can all speak to the response we're getting from young women from young girls about what this represents,' the journalist told the publication in defense of the mission.

Charlize Theron Under Fire For Making 'Snide' Remark Made About Celebrities At Jeff Bezos' Wedding
Charlize Theron has poked fun at the celebrities who attended Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's wedding on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice. While speaking at a charity gala for her foundation, the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project, the actress joked that those who received an invite to the exclusive event "suck." Though her comment seemed lighthearted and without malice, the wedding itself drew real protests, with critics accusing Jeff Bezos of paying small taxes despite his billionaire status. While the world is still reeling from Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez tying the knot in Venice, Charlize Theron has trolled the attendees of the lavish nuptials. Present at the ceremony were notable figures such as Tom Brady, the Kardashians, Ivanka Trump, Oprah Winfrey, Usher, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Orlando Bloom. The guest list also included several other high-profile stars and family members of the couple, which in total was rumored to be around 200. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Theron, who claimed not to have received an invite to the wedding, took a jab at the attendees during a charity event she was hosting. "I think we might be the only people who did not get an invite to the Bezos wedding. But that's OK because they suck and we're cool," the 49-year-old said at the event organized for her non-profit Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project. Theron's comments have since gone viral, with several slamming the actress as a "hater" and calling what she said "snide" while claiming she was "jealous." One person on X wrote, "Why all the hate for that wedding? I thought it was tacky, but it's their cash, their call, their life. Those Hollywood elitists bashing it weren't even invited. Venice gave the green light, so deal with it. Their money, their party." Another noted, "Another Hollywood Elite p-ssed that she wasn't invited to the wedding?" A third individual commented, "Was she mad she wasn't invited? I mean, yeah, they suck but so does she." Amid the criticism, some sided with Theron and called out Bezos and Sanchez's lavish nuptials. A fan wrote, "There is something wrong when the founder of Amazon can spend 50 million on a wedding while the employees in Amazon warehouses are working to the bone for a pittance." While her remark appeared to be made in good humor, the wedding wasn't without controversy. Ahead of the nuptials, protesters gathered multiple times in Venice, vowing to disrupt the celebration. Some local activists claimed that their protest was rooted in opposition to the "hubris" and "entitlement" of Bezos, whom they labeled as a "technocrat feudal overlord." Two activist groups, Greenpeace and Everyone Hates Elon, also unveiled a massive anti-Bezos banner that boldly displayed the words "If you can rent Venice for your wedding, you can pay more tax." The groups also released a joint statement to emphasize their demands, pointing out that Bezos pays far less in taxes than someone with his level of wealth should. "Jeff Bezos is the second-richest man in the world, yet is reported to pay a 1.1% true tax rate," they said, per the Daily Mail. "The multi-million-dollar wedding is reportedly happening over three days, with the wedding ring alone worth as much as $5 million." Despite the backlash surrounding the nuptials, reports claim that the city of Venice was expected to generate over $1 billion from hosting the celebration. This figure reportedly accounts for nearly 68% of the city's annual tourism revenue, driven by extensive logistics arranged for the couple and their guests, along with hospitality services. As part of the wedding festivities, the couple reserved dozens of water taxis, effectively booking out a large portion of the city's fleet. Guests also filled nearly all of Venice's top luxury hotels, including the Aman Hotel, where Bezos and Sánchez stayed, along with the St. Regis, Gritti Palace, Cipriani, and Hotel Danieli. Given the massive figures, it is no wonder that Daniela Santanchè, the minister of tourism in Italy, earlier called for activists to "abandon the controversy and focus on opportunities." "This is not just a private event but a concrete driving force for the entire sector," she said in a news release, per CNN. Venice has all it takes to transform it into an opportunity for relaunch and promotion." Following the wedding, the newly married couple has reportedly left Venice to begin their honeymoon. Although they haven't disclosed their exact plans, a source revealed that they would first stay in the Torcello area before heading to Nicelli Airport, per The Mirror. From there, Bezos and Sánchez are expected to board a helicopter that will take them back to Bezos' $500 million superyacht, Koru, where they will set sail for Taormina in Sicily. The historic destination is said to be a favorite of the couple, who fell in love with it during a sailing trip around the region last year. In Taormina, they are expected to stay at the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace, the same hotel famously featured as a primary filming location in "The White Lotus" Season 2.

A-List Litigator Alex Spiro Aims at ‘Bigger Business' Than Law
Tom Brady was hardly a surprise as a guest at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's star-studded wedding, but the man who accompanied the seven-time Super Bowl champion to the Venice nuptials was a less familiar face to the paparazzi. If lawyer Alex Spiro has his way, that may soon change. With clients like Brady, Elon Musk, WeWork founder Adam Neumann, Jay-Z and Alec Baldwin, among many others, Spiro may have reached the pinnacle of his legal career. But in an extensive interview for The Circuit with Emily Chang, Spiro said he's now looking beyond the courtroom.
