Double standards of Centre and State govt. exposed one more time, alleges KTR

HYDERABAD Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao has ridiculed the double standards of the NDA government and the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA), stating that they are not acting on the sinking of the coffer dam of the Polavaram project for the second time. In a statement, Mr. Rao said on Saturday that the NDSA had not taken up investigation into the washing away of the Polavaram cofferdam in 2020 that happened for the first time, even after being asked to go into the matter. The NDA government gave national project status to Polavaram and funded its construction - but is not looking into the quality aspects of construction, he said. During the run-up to the last Assembly elections in Telangana, a few piers of the Medigadda Barrage of Kaleshwaram project sank and damaged the structure under suspicious circumstances, but neither the BJP leaders nor those of the Congress, who had been indulging in mudslinging on Kaleshwaram project continuously, and terming it as 'kuleshwaram' (a collapsed project) repeatedly - had raised an issue on Polavaram, Mr. Rao said. He sought to know if the BJP and the Congress have the guts to term Polavaram as 'kulavaram' since its coffer dam was washed away once and sunk for the second time. In the second instance, it sunk for 10 meters width and about 8 meters deep, and the Andhra Pradesh government had taken up repairs on a war-footing silently, he said. On the other hand, the 'foolishness' of the Congress government is preventing it from taking up repairs on Medigadda Barrage and in giving water to the large ayacut depending on waters lifted from the point, even 20 months after coming to power, he said. Further, the NDSA proved its double standards by not taking up investigation into the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapse in February that buried eight workers, technicians and engineers alive. It is also indicative of the Congress-BJP conspiracy against Kaleshwaram, he alleged.

Congress leader equates RSS with Taliban after PM's praise in I-Day speech

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort, Karnataka Congress leader BK Hariprasad on Saturday hit back, calling the right-wing group 'Indian Taliban' and accusing it of disturbing peace in the country.'They (RSS) are trying to disturb peace in the country. I will only equate RSS with Taliban, they are Indian Taliban and PM is appreciating them from Red Fort,' Hariprasad told news agency The former Rajya Sabha MP also raised questions over the organisation's legal status and funding. 'Was there any 'Sanghi' who participated in the freedom struggle? The man who spoke from the Red Fort yesterday... It's a shame that RSS is not a registered organisation. We don't know where they get funds. Any NGO that wants to work in the country should register, as per the Constitution,' he went on to allege that the BJP and RSS were 'masters of twisting history' and accused them of attempting to rewrite the narrative of Partition. His remark was in reference to an NCERT module that holds Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Congress, and then Viceroy Lord Mountbatten responsible for the partition. The module, released to mark Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, has evoked a sharp reaction from the Congress.'It was Fazlul Huq and Syama Prasad Mookerjee who moved the first resolution in Bengal for the Partition. Jinnah and Savarkar were of the opinion that both religions need a separate state. They are trying to blame Congress for it,' he told MODI'S PRAISE FOR RSSIn his Independence Day address on Friday, Prime Minister Modi had lauded the RSS, which is set to complete 100 years later this year, describing it as the 'world's biggest NGO' with a 'very proud and glorious' journey of national service.'For the past 100 years, the RSS swayamsevaks have been dedicating their lives to fulfil the resolve of vyakti nirman (character development) and rashtra nirman (nation building) for the welfare of matrubhoomi (motherland),' the Prime Minister, a former RSS pracharak, Congress, however, has consistently disputed the RSS's legacy. Party leaders including Manickam Tagore and Supriya Shrinate criticised the Prime Minister's remarks, insisting that the organisation stayed away from the freedom struggle and instead spread 'hate and division.'The RSS will mark its centenary celebrations in October this year, coinciding with Vijaya Dashami.- Ends

Delhi Police commissioner sets vision for self-reliance, public trust on 79th Independence Day

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police Commissioner SBK Singh on Saturday outlined a roadmap for the force, in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 79th Independence Day speech. He highlighted three points to be implemented this year: self-reliance, technological aid, and healthy competition within the police force. The CP has directed Delhi Police units to come up with a proposal to make the force self-reliant within 15 days. The aim is to make Delhi Police independent of commandos, bomb disposal squads, and wireless sets. 'Although the Delhi Police has always been making the best use of technology and we are way ahead on this front, there is still a need to go further. Whether it is a matter of surveillance systems, preventing cyber crime, anti-drone technology, the ability to fight terrorists, the use of technology is required in every field,' Singh said. The CP has directed Delhi Police units dealing in technology-related matters to form committees and groups to conduct necessary studies and come up with proposals in a month.
