Penn State wrestling: All-American faces resisting arrest, other charges
A Penn State wrestling All-American is facing misdemeanor charges related to a late-March incident at a State College fraternity house.
Police have charged Braedan Davis, a 20-year-old sophomore for the dynastic Nittany Lions, with defiant trespass, evading arrest and resisting arrest, as well as summary offenses of underage drinking and publicly drunkenness.

His blood alcohol concentration was tested at .225 after multiple State College officers finally subdued the wrestler who allegedly attempted to elude them in the early-morning hours of March 29.
Davis has a preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 21 in Centre County Court.

Police were called to the scene after Davis refused requests by fraternity members and private security to leave the Tau Kappa Epsilon house, 346 E. Prospect Ave., according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by borough police and first reported by StateCollege.com.
David allegedly attempted to flee from police while they were questioning him and another man at the scene. During the ensuing chase and apprehension, Davis allegedly broke an officer's wristwatch and radio earpiece and damaged his body camera, according to the affidavit.

The incident happened about a week after Davis finished fifth in the 133-pound class at the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Philadelphia.
Penn State officials acknowledged the charges against Davis but refused to comment, "as this is an ongoing legal matter."
Davis, who also finished fourth at this year's Big Ten Championships, is one of the top candidates to represent the four-time defending national champions next season at 133 or 141 pounds. He won a Big Ten title at 125 pounds as a freshman in 2023-24.

Davis faces steep competition to hold onto a starting position for a third consecutive season, regardless of weight class or off-mat issues. He must beat out some combination of Masanosuke Ono (Japanese world champion), Marcus Blaze (nation's top recruit) and Aaron Nagao (former All-American).
Davis struggled with injuries all of last season before finishing strong at the NCAA championships.

Far North Peoria tattoo artist held for sexually explicit and ‘grooming' messages
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A Far North Peoria man spent two hours sending sexually explicit text messages to a 16-year-old girl earlier this year. That's what Assistant State's Attorney Terry Muench said during a brief hearing Thursday in Peoria County Circuit Court where Mario E. Davis, 34, was charged with one count of grooming. Davis appeared in court twice Thursday. The first time was in the morning, when a judge found probable cause to proceed on the charges. The second time was in the afternoon before Judge Mark Gilles who ordered him held pending the outcome of his case. Muench said a reason to hold him was that Davis had called Peoria police hours after he texted the teenage girl to claim his Snapchat account was hacked or that someone was posing as him. He even, the prosecutor said, went so far as to change the name of his account. That change came after she had screen recorded their conversation. that matters as users of Snapchat are notified when someone takes a screen shot of their image or text. The judge noted that Davis was a threat to minors, the 'most vulnerable people in society,' and the harm that could come to a child would be beyond repair. Nothing that could be done to ensure that he would not continue this activity online, Gilles said. 'Children are at a high risk with this defendant if he's not detained based upon what I have heard today,' Gilles said, noting that Davis' past criminal record did have a misdemeanor charge of tattooing of a minor and obstructing justice. The prosecutor pointed out twice in open court that the entire conversation was found on Davis' cellphone when he was arrested this week. Muench said an investigation into Davis began in mid-February after a parent reported her child had gotten the illicit messages. The girl, who knew Davis as her older sister had worked with him, spent two hours in the early morning hours of Feb. 12, talking to him after she accepted a friend request from him. The conversation started innocently but quickly turned sexual. The girl did tell him that she was 16 and Davis, Muench said, kept going with the conversation. After serving several search warrants on several social media accounts, they arrested Davis Tuesday at an address in the 7700 block of North Grand Prairie Drive. Detectives were able to confirm that the account used to communicate with the girl was registered to Davis. Also, GPS data from Snapchat indicated that the conversation occurred in or around Davis's residence, said Anna Perales of the state's attorney's office. While it wasn't clear where he was arrested, Davis runs a tattoo shop called Ink Capital, which is located on that block. He will next appear in court on June 18. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Clay County deputy fired after investigation of missing cash from man he arrested
A Clay County deputy is out of a job after being accused of stealing $4,000 during an arrest. Action News Jax reported last month about accusations filed following the arrest of Willie Davis Jr. in September. He said deputies seized $6,900 from him when he was arrested. Davis' attorney said when he picked up his belongings, some of that money had disappeared. Jail records show only $2,900 was put in Davis' account. Clay authorities confirmed that deputy has been fired. 'We hold all of our deputies and employees to the highest standards and this probationary deputy failed to meet those standards,' Clay County Sheriff Michelle Cook said. Community Update: Green Bay Police Chief talks summertime safety
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Green Bay Police Chief Chris Davis stopped by the Local Five studio Thursday morning to discuss safety for kids and families during the summer season and how the police department is involved with a newly launched city initiative focused on revitalizing and reengaging area neighborhoods. As students begin their summer break, Chief Davis says it's important for parents to be aware of where their kids are and what they are doing. We like to remind parents this time of year, the big thing is just know where your kids are and what they're doing, who they're with. Keep in mind that public spaces like parks get a lot busier this time of year. Everyone wants to be able to enjoy the parks, so kind of think about your behavior in the park and urge your kids to be good stewards of our public spaces. Chief Davis says to just leave those at home and not bring them into public spaces, or kids using them could get into 'some pretty serious trouble.' Along with the summer and warmer weather also brings with it an increase in bicyclist, motorcyclist, and pedestrian traffic. The Chief says that every day drivers need to just be aware of their surroundings and not follow too closely to a motorcyclist or bicyclist as they stop much faster than a car can. Those on the bicycles and motorcycles should keep their heads on a swivel and be aware of their surroundings. Riders of either mode of travel mentioned should also be sure to wear a helmet. As for pedestrians, the Chief asks that they try to make themselves as visible as possible. Chief Davis then talked about the new city initiative, starting in the Western Avenue neighborhood, which is all about focusing on revitalizing and reengaging area neighborhoods This is a whole of city government program to try to really dig deep into neighborhoods where we can improve livability.
