Disney Plus hidden gem with 'addictive' plot hailed as 'best ever' by fans
A Disney Plus hidden gem with an "addictive" plot has been hailed the "best ever" by fans.
Crafted by Todd Harthan, American police procedural series Rosewood follows a private pathologist named Dr Beaumont Rosewood Jr (Morris Chestnut), who uses his cutting-edge laboratory to discover murder evidence that the Miami police overlook.
He eventually teams up with Detective Annalise Villa (Jaina Lee Ortiz), who finds herself both fascinated and frustrated by Rosewood's unorthodox techniques and upbeat demeanour.
Beyond cracking cases, the programme also delves into the characters' private worlds, including Rosewood's bond with his sister, Pippy (Gabrielle Dennis), and mother, Donna (Lorraine Toussaint), alongside the tragic loss of Annalise's spouse, reports the Express.
Rosewood initially launched on Fox in September 2015, with its second series debuting in April 2017. The programme was axed just days after the second season's conclusion.
Lead actor Morris Chestnut has subsequently featured in numerous films and television programmes, including Watson and Reasonable Doubt.
Meanwhile, Jaina Lee Ortiz achieved tremendous acclaim after landing the starring role of Andy Herrera in Shonda Rhimes' Grey's Anatomy spin-off, Station 19.
Whilst reviewers weren't particularly taken with Rosewood during its original broadcast, the series proved popular with audiences, with countless fans still posting glowing testimonials online.
"This show is addictive. The mixture of comedy and chemistry between the 2 main characters draws you in. Hated that there wasn't more seasons. I would buy them all. Love this show," one person penned on IMDb.
Another chimed in: "Literally one of the best shows I have ever watched in my life. Seriously not joking, this show is so good I have to pause it because it will have your heart beating out of your chest."
A third viewer enthused: "Definitely a MUST watch series if you like action and suspense, with a touch of romance to spice it up. Loved this series!!!! Really wish they would have continued it longer but it is well worth it."
Echoing the sentiment, a fourth fan said: "Detective series are taking over and I must admit this should definitely be in the top bracket of the most watched. Best of the best."
Another loyal fan recently shared their disappointment at the show's cancellation, writing: "It's been over 8 years since Rosewood ended and I still 100% believe it deserved a 3rd season. It was a fantastic show! One I still miss."
If you're looking to fill the Silent Witness void, Rosewood is the perfect late-night viewing.
Prepare to dive into a world of murder, romance and intrigue, all set against the vibrant backdrop of Miami. What's not to love?

Where Changing Rooms' Handy Andy is now from marriage to unrecognisable new look
Handy Andy - real name Andy Kane - was a hugely popular member of the Changing Rooms team with viewers. But what has he been up to since he left the show in 2004? Popular 90s DIY show Changing Rooms was a firm favourite on our screens, but the cast look very different to nowadays. Viewers of the BBC show tuned in weekly to see the team take on some major home transformations, making the stars of the show household names in the process. Hosted by Carol Smillie, Changing Rooms drew in a whopping 10 million viewers at its peak on BBC One and created some iconic moments - who can forget when a £6,000 teapot collection was destroyed in one fell swoop by a floating shelf in series 8? Designers Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Linda Barker, and Anna Ryder Richardson were the ones tasked with helping members of the public transform a room in someone else's house - be it a friend, family member or neighbour. And then to help them make it a reality, the show's handyman, Handy Andy (Andy Kane) swooped in. DIY expert Andy appeared on the show from 1996-2004 and was a key player in the transformation process. But what has he been up to in the years since? After the show ended, Andy landed a role on the American version of the programme, named Trading Spaces, and he also presented three shows for UK Style, Room Rival , Garden Rivals and Streetcombers. READ MORE: Dancing on Ice's biggest scandals - from headbanger horror to bullying allegations One of his biggest programmes was Increase Your House Price By Ten Grand, which saw Andy work with a team to increase a house's value by £10,000 in just three days with a £1,000 budget. Andy has also appeared on I'm Famous And Frightened, Cirque de Celebrite and The Adam And Joe Show, and he has hosted a number of BBC Primary Geography programmes since 2008. He is happily married to his wife Geraldine and together they have four children. Andy was a popular member of the team and the chatty Cockney proved to be a big hit with viewers too. While he frequently impressed with his DIY, it didn't always go to plan, and he later spoke about his most major mishap - when the teapot collection was destroyed. Designer Linda had commissioned a floating shelf to house them but weighed it down with heavy books, causing the shelf to collapse overnight. Andy told the Metro: "It went wrong because they put too much weight on it. The shelf was obviously just for show and just the teapots on it would have been fine, but then they started loading up with books at the bottom. "I did say at the time that books are very heavy but they carried on and you know, it's one of them things. When it happened, it was really, really awful, everyone felt really bad, but now you just laugh about it. But it was good entertainment, wasn't it? "In other episodes of the show they'd mount chairs on the wall or hang chairs from ceilings and as a builder, you're like 'really?!', but that's interior design for you."

It will be held at the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California with NFL star Travis's team, Kansas City Chiefs, tipped to contest it. During the New Heights podcast, Taylor referred to the number 47 — and eagle-eyed fans noted that her 47th show during The Eras Tour was at the Levi's Stadium. Taylor thanked Travis and his brother, fellow American football star Jason Kelce, for 'screaming for 47 seconds' — and joked she performed in '47,000 countries' on her recent global concert tour. California is home to Orange County, named after the fruit's abundance in the area. Fans also believe Taylor's choice to announce her new album on a podcast dedicated largely to American football is a further pointer to her performing at the big game. Taylor and Travis, who confirmed they were dating in 2023, sealed their romance with a kiss at the 2024 Super Bowl, following the Chiefs' win that year. Taylor Swift reveals 'wild' true story of how she met Travis Kelce moments into New Heights podcast appearance The pair also smooched at a game last January, following a crunch match. During the podcast, they chatted in front of a bookcase filled with Super Bowl clues. The Lombardi Trophy, awarded to the game's winning side, can be seen in the middle of the bookcase. Elsewhere a glass microphone sits on a shelf near a figurine of Travis in his Kansas City Chiefs kit. But perhaps the most telling clue is that Taylor was rumoured to have turned down offers to perform at the Super Bowl in order to focus on re-recording her first six albums. But on May 30, she announced she had won the battle to obtain the master recordings of them in a deal with Shamrock Capital. In a letter on her website she wrote: 'All of the music I've ever made . . . now belongs . . . to me.' 'Intoxicating' thriller dubbed a 'true classic of the genre' streaming for free
The film remains a popular choice with fans An "intoxicating" thriller that has been dubbed a "masterpiece" and a "true classic" will be available to stream for free. The Silence of the Lambs was released in 1991 and despite its older release, remains a popular choice with fans. Starring two time Academy Award winners Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins, the film follows FBI student Clarice Starling who is assigned to help on the search of a serial killer. She soon seeks the help of Dr Hannibal Lecter *the cannibal* who is held in a maximum security hospital. Dr Hannibal Lecter is a character created by American author Thomas Harris and has featured in the 1986 film Manhunter, but his appearance in The Silence of the Lambs is arguably the most famous adaptation. Both Hopkins and Foster bagged Oscar awards for their performances, with Hopkins scooping the Best Leading Actor award and Foster clinching the Best Leading Actress accolade at the 1992 ceremony. It also nabbed the coveted Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay awards. And the film remains a hit with fans with many describing it as a "masterpiece" and a timeless classic". The popular choice will be available to stream on BBC Two on Sunday evening (August 17), as well as BBC iPlayer. It is currently available to buy on prime Video. A synopsis reads: "FBI trainee Clarice Starling, enticing insights from confined killer Hannibal Lecter, shares her nightmare memory in the hope of stopping a serial killer before his latest victim dies. Multi-award-winning thriller." With an impressive score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, one person said: "A complete masterpiece throughout the ages." Another commented: "Definitely a classic. The film set new standards and is still very suspenseful and creepy even by today's standards." A third wrote: "One of the best movies of the 1990s if not all time. incredible story, amazing actors and a master class in film making." A fourth replied: "The Silence of the Lambs is an outstanding five-star thriller that completely pulled me in. Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster deliver unforgettable performances, making every scene intense and gripping. "The psychological tension, unsettling atmosphere, and smart storytelling kept me hooked from start to finish. It's a masterful film that left a lasting impression on me." Another praised: "Gritty, disgusting and suspenseful, it gets deep under your skin and makes you gag even after three decades. The undoubted highlight being Anthony Hopkins' performance." Writing for the Winnipeg Free Press, Paul McKie described it as: "The Silence of the Lambs is one of the most intoxicating and absorbing thrillers ever made." Directed by Jonathan Demme, the film also stars Scott Glen as well as Ted Levine and Anthony Heald. The Silence of the Lambs will be available to watch on BBC Two at 10pm on Sunday, August 17 before arriving on BBC iPlayer.
