The Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, took the second place, while Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City took third. The magazine announced the 2025-2026 rankings on July 29.
The rankings through No. 9 remain the same as 2024-2025, though, this year, the University of Michigan Health, Ann Arbor, Michigan, supplanted University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital for the No. 10 spot.
U.S. News & World Report ranks hospitals in 15 specialties; while most specialty rankings are based on objective performance measures, the rankings for ophthalmology, psychiatry, and rheumatology are based on expert opinion.
The top 10 rheumatology hospitals were nominated by at least 5% of rheumatologist respondents to U.S. News surveys in 2022, 2023, and 2024. An additional 18 hospitals were recommended by at least 1% of responding rheumatologists.

University of Wisconsin Hospitals ranked Number 1 in Wisconsin for 14th consecutive year
MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – For the 14th consecutive year, officials say the University of Wisconsin Hospitals has been ranked by US News & World Report as the number 1 hospital in the Badger State. The eight UW Hospitals medical and surgical specialties ranked in the top 50 in the country are as follows: Diabetes and endocrinology Ear, nose, and throat Gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery Geriatrics Obstetrics and Gynecology Orthopedics Pulmonology and lung surgery Rehabilitation and urology Hospital officials at UW say diabetes and endocrinology, as well as rehabilitation, are newly ranked this year.
