Netizens trolled Soni Razdan with sarcastic comments about the effectiveness of petitions.
Alia Bhatt's mother, Soni Razdan, took to her Instagram account recently to share a peace-seeking petition started by Indian and Pakistani activists. The petition titled 'India, Pakistan: Stop the hostilities' urged that both nuclear powers refrain from declaring war on each other. Amid the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, Soni's Instagram post has not been taken positively by a large section of Indian social media users.
Soni Razdan shared the petition on her Instagram with the caption, 'Above all – PEACE ☮️ ✌️ Sign the petition. Link in bio." It is available for signatures on Change.org. The petition already has more than four thousand verified signatures. However, a large section of netizens also took to social media to troll the veteran actress.
While the Reddit post wrongly claims that Soni started the petition, netizens trolled her for sharing it on her platform. One person wrote on Reddit, 'Oh, I didn't know it takes a petition to make Pakistan stop attacking Indian civilians, else we all have done this long back. Why are Indian forces wasting all the money and risking their lives to save people? They should just sign her petition." Another mentioned, 'As if that is going to accomplish anything."
Another person mentioned, 'Oh no. She has spoken. Everybody, it's over. There's an online petition now!!" Another comment read, 'Everybody is like – it's Alia's mother and Mahesh Bhatt Ji's wife, so let's stop this war." One person wrote, 'Indian Army better buck up if they want to win this war. Once Soni Razdan reaches 1000 signatures, the Indian Army will have to retreat cos of her pressure 🙄."
As for the petition, it was started by Indian and Pakistani activists who state on the website, 'We, peace activists from India, Pakistan and elsewhere, categorically condemn every form of violent extremism and terrorism. We particularly condemn the targeting of unarmed civilians, for any reason, including as a means to achieve political ends."
'India and Pakistan must behave responsibly. Any war between these two nuclear-armed nations would be disastrous. As history shows, it is ordinary citizens who suffer the most in conflict, especially women, children, minorities, the elderly, and other vulnerable communities forced to prove their patriotism. We therefore urge the people of India and Pakistan to hold their governments accountable and resist any speech or action that feeds war hysteria," they also mentioned.
