WORKERS at a pet shop were horrified when a man entered the shop and caught a goldfish from a tank and ate it alive, Sin Chew Daily reported.
They said they could hear chewing sounds as he live-streamed the act and shouted 'This is for Trump' at the store in Sydney, Australia.
He left the shop but returned later to pay A$8 (RM22) for the fish.
The pet store issued a statement condemning the act, saying its employees were shocked and distressed by the incident.
The company has offered support and counselling, emphasising that any act of animal cruelty is unacceptable.
The 20-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences, including animal cruelty.
He is expected to appear in court on Aug 20.
> The daily also reported that South Korean actor Byeon Woo-seok would star in the live-action adaptation of the hit anime Solo Leveling.
According to Netflix, he was chosen following his success last year in Lovely Runner.
Solo Leveling began as a web novel and has since become hugely popular in the form of webtoons, animation and games.
It has also accumulated more than 14.3 billion global views.
Its animated version made history by becoming the first Korean animation to win nine awards at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, including Anime of the Year, Best Action Anime and Best Main Character.
The series will be co-directed by Lee Hae-jun (Ashfall) and Kim Byung-seo, the cinematographer behind Along With the Gods.

S. Korean YouTuber indicted with murder over abortion video, baby allegedly born alive and placed in freezer

SEOUL: A South Korean YouTuber who posted a video detailing what she said was an abortion at 36 weeks of pregnancy, and the doctors who performed it, have been indicted for murder. South Korea's Supreme Prosecutors' Office said on Thursday (July 24) that it has indicted three on murder charges in connection with the death of the baby: a hospital director surnamed Yoon, a surgeon surnamed Shim and the YouTuber surnamed Kwon. Two brokers who introduced patients to the hospital were charged with violating the Medical Service Act. According to the prosecutors, the baby was allegedly born alive through a Caesarean operation and later placed in a freezer. 'We will do our utmost to ensure that all profits obtained through this crime are fully confiscated, to send a strong message against such inhumane acts driven by financial gain and a disregard for life,' the prosecutors said in a statement. The case came to public attention in June 2024 when Kwon uploaded the video saying she had received an abortion at 36 weeks, considered full-term under medical guidelines. The South Korean police found that the baby was still alive when it was removed, and the hospital director and surgeon then allegedly placed the newborn under a surgical drape and put it into a freezer, where it died. Prosecutors said hospital staff attempted to conceal the incident by falsifying Kwon's medical records. They allegedly recorded symptoms such as abdominal pain and bleeding to make it look like a stillbirth. A false diagnosis was also allegedly issued. The investigation also uncovered a wider illegal abortion scheme. From August 2022 to July 2023, the hospital allegedly performed over 500 illegal abortions arranged through brokers, earning nearly 1.5 billion won (US$1 million) in total. Abortion remains in a legal grey area in South Korea. In April 2019, South Korea's Constitutional Court ruled the country's criminalisation of all abortions unconstitutional. However, the South Korean National Assembly has yet to enact a new law governing abortions to legalise it. - The Korea Herald/ANN

#SHOWBIZ: Hybe, Paramount set 2027 release for K-pop film shot in South Korea

SEOUL: Hybe America and Paramount Pictures have reportedly announced they will co-produce a K-pop-themed feature film, slated for theatrical release in early 2027. According to The Korea Herald, the film will follow a Korean American teenager who auditions for a reality TV competition, hoping to join a K-pop girl group, against her family's wishes. Filming is scheduled to commence in mid-September and will take place entirely in South Korea. This reportedly marks it as the first major Hollywood studio project to be shot exclusively in the country. Yoo Ji-young and Eric Nam have reportedly been cast in the lead roles, with Korean American director Benson Lee at the helm, working from a script by Eileen Shim. Lee expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying, "This film is my love letter to K-pop — a world filled with energy, passion, magic and an incredible community of support." James Shin of Hybe America, Arthur Spector and Joshua Davis of Epic Magazine, and Hybe board member Scooter Braun will reportedly serve as producers. Bryan Oh, Paramount Pictures' senior vice president, is said to be overseeing the project. It's worth noting that Hybe is the South Korean entertainment company behind popular groups such as BTS, Seventeen, NewJeans, and Enhypen.
