Motorola and Swarovski team up for a super fancy Razr
The Pantone Ice Melt will cost a cool $1,000, though it will include a pair of the Moto Buds Loop . These open-ear buds are designed to be worn like jewelry — fitting, given the Swarovski treatment. Motorola is calling this bundle the Brilliant Collection. A stand-alone Motorola Razr will normally run you $700, and a pair of Moto Buds Loop will set you back $300, so the package deal for $1,000 basically means free crystals.
Motorola has been expanding the Razr lineup lately, and the company now offers the Razr, Razr Plus and Razr Ultra. The Pantone Ice Melt edition is a design spin on the base model and retains the same 3.6-inch cover display, 6.9-inch foldable AMOLED main display, MediaTek Dimensity 7400X processor, 4,500 mAh battery and 50-MP main camera.
Motorola said that this release is "just the beginning for Motorola Collections," so we expect to see more curated collaborations down the line. The Brilliant Collection will become available on August 7.

It will look as good as most of the devices in our list of the best Android phones! But if you want to save energy or prefer not to unfold the device, there'/s a pretty nice 3.6-inch external display for quick tasks. The battery is not really big at 4,500mAh, but that is actually very reasonable in the world of flip phones. You can recharge at 30W wired or 15W wirelessly. Remember, this is a record-low price! Motorola just picked this surprising alternative to Gemini Live's camera sharing

The Gemini Live camera sharing alternative will be available in the coming week in the US, Mexico, the UK, and more markets. The Copilot app will now be preinstalled on the brand's latest phones. Motorola's approach to AI is a little more flexible than other brands, as it enlists the help of various AI partners like Perplexity, Meta, Google, and Microsoft. Despite its AI-by-committee method, it looks like the company is ready to double down on its partnership with Microsoft. Motorola has announced that a couple of changes are coming to its phones. The first change is that users can expect the Microsoft Copilot app to come preinstalled on the company's latest handsets. Second, Motorola is integrating Copilot Vision within Moto AI. If you're unfamiliar with Copilot Vision, it is essentially Microsoft's version of Gemini Live camera sharing. By giving Copilot access to your camera lens, it can analyze your surroundings and answer any questions you may have. For example, if you were to point your phone toward a water bottle on your desk, you could ask Copilot what company made it, and it would give you an answer. When this integration arrives, users will have to invoke the AI and allow it to access their camera or microphone. Motorola says the requirement to invoke Copilot is to give users privacy. The company also notes that a Copilot account will be needed to use the feature. However, users will be able to test the feature out without signing in. Motorola states that Copilot Vision integration will be rolling out to devices with Moto AI in the coming week. This carrier now has a lock system that prevents you from using Developer Options
Ryan Haines / Android Authority TL;DR Cricket's new device lock makes 2025 or newer Motorola and Cricket-branded phones unusable without an active Cricket SIM or eSIM. The only way around this is to wait six months, after which the phone will be fully unlocked. Developer Options are also blocked until the device is unlocked, so Android enthusiasts who care about this should steer clear. If you thought typical carrier unlock policies were annoying, Cricket's new Device Unlock system takes things to a whole new level. Instead of just preventing you from unlocking your phone or using a rival SIM for a few months, the new app makes it impossible to use the phone at all without a Cricket SIM or eSIM. No Wi-Fi, no home page, no apps — nothing works unless Cricket is active. This change rolled out quietly a few months ago and only targets Motorola and Cricket-branded devices released in 2025 or later, though it's certainly possible that other brands could eventually be impacted. The only official way around it is to stay active with Cricket for six months, after which the lock can be removed. I honestly see why they'd want to introduce something like this. Cricket often offers its phones at an extreme discount, making them a tempting option for a parent who is looking for a cheap 'mini-tablet' to gift their kids. For those wondering, there doesn't seem to be any easy workarounds that let you use the phone without an active SIM/eSIM. While you can remove the eSIM and reset the phone, it will automatically require you to redownload the device unlock app the second you connect to Wi-Fi. That's because this isn't just an app, but it seems that the ROM itself also has restrictions to prevent its removal without Cricket's authorization. Cricket is subsidizing the phones to deliver the lowest pricing possible, and so they have the right to introduce software locks like this. The bigger issue is that the app grays out Developer Options for those six months as well. The likely reason for disabling Developer Options is that it would make it much easier to enable things like ADB access and other settings, which could potentially allow someone to bypass the lock app. Still, I feel like this is a bigger deal than Cricket realizes for many Android enthusiasts who aren't necessarily looking to bypass anything but do want the ability to enable USB debugging for manual file transfers, force activities to be resizable for split mode, and other customizations. If you are a Cricket customer or interested in being one, for now, I'd recommend avoiding Motorola or Cricket-branded devices if Developer Options matters to you (or if you are looking for a WiFi-only device, for that matter).
