Two killed in horror plane crash
Early investigations indicate the aircraft crashed near Oakey Cooyar Rd at Devon Park, about two hours from Brisbane, shortly after 3pm on Sunday.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson said four crews rushed to the scene just before 3.20pm and extinguished a blaze from the plane, which had caught fire.
Queensland Police said the two male occupants were declared deceased at the scene and that Forensic Crash Unit were investigating the circumstances around the incident.
They will assist investigators from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau who confirmed on Sunday afternoon they would investigating the crash.
The ATSB identified the aircraft as a twin turboprop Reims Cessna F406, and that officers were being deployed from Brisbane and Canberra.
The investigators, who specialise in aircraft operations and maintenance, will conduct a range of 'evidence-gathering activities', including site and wreckage examination.
'Investigators will also seek to interview involved parties, and collect relevant recorded information including flight tracking data,' the ATSB said in a statement.
'As well as pilot and aircraft maintenance records, and weather information.'
Anyone with footage of the aircraft at 'any phase of the flight' or following the crash were urged to contact the ATSB.
A report will also be prepared for the information of the coroner.

New chief constable pledges ‘exceptional policing' on first day
The new chief constable for Hampshire police has pledged to deliver 'exceptional policing' as he starts in the role. Alexis Boon has joined the force from the Metropolitan Police, where he led commands in local policing, specialist crime and counter terrorism. Teenager killed in crash and woman injured as man arrested
A man has been arrested after a crash in a village near Oxford killed a teenager and injured a woman. Thames Valley Police said a white Kia Rio 2 left Cuddesdon Road, near the junction of The Green in Horspath and hit a telegraph pole at about 10.20pm on Sunday (August 3). The driver, a 19-year-old man, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. A black BMW 3 Series, which had been in convoy with the Kia, remained at the scene after the collision, police say. He has been released under investigation. Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Lyndsey Blackaby, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Tragically, a young man has died following this collision. "Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this extremely difficult time. "I am appealing for anyone who saw the collision or the two cars driving in the Horspath and Wheatley areas between 9.45pm to 10.20pm to contact us.
