Texas A&M baseball lands commitment from top 2026 LHP out of Oklahoma
Texas A&M adds another 2026 commit to the growing 2026 pitching staff. On Wednesday, left-handed pitcher Elijah Williams, out of Norman, OK, announced via social media that he will start his college career in Bryan-College Station after decommitting from Oklahoma in December.
Aggie prospect Elijah Williams is an elite two-way player who's ranked as one of the best players in the state. His trio of fastball, slider, and change-up makes him almost impossible to hit. Williams can also hit as well as anyone in Oklahoma, putting his talent on display, earning Prep Baseball Oklahoma's Player of the Week when he threw a 13-strikeout no-hitter while going 9 of 16 at the plate.
The Texas A&M coaching staff, led by Michael Earley, is prioritizing depth in pitching by recruiting and developing younger players. William's commitment is vital to strengthening future pitching rosters. Given the team's challenges with relievers this season, securing talented pitchers like Williams will ensure depth and success for Texas A&M's baseball program. Leveraging the transfer portal to fill gaps while nurturing recruits underscores the team's strategic approach to long-term performance.

Campus is buzzing as the Tigers are hosting an NCAA Super Regional for the first time in program history, and a record crowd is expected to witness this weekend's action as Auburn officials have added general admission viewing areas to ensure that Plainsman Park will be an electric atmosphere for the appetizer for next week's College World Series. Will the Tigers feed off their home field advantage? Or will Coastal Carolina spoil Auburn's good time? Experts at D1Baseball shared their prediction for this weekend's series, and are split down the middle on how they see this series shaking out. Out of the 11 writers that submitted predictions, six are projecting the Tigers to advance to Omaha while five are siding with the Chanticleers. Both teams will rely heavily on its pitching staffs to combat the strong sticks that will be on display this weekend. Seven of Auburn's top lineup pieces are hitting over .300 entering the series. The top three batters in Auburn's lineup: Ike Irish, Cooper McMurray, and Chris Rembert, have over 70 hits and double-digit home run totals. Coastal boasts comparable stats with six batters hitting .300 or better, with Blake Barthol and Sebastian Alexander creating the most problems for opposing pitchers. Not only does are the duo hitting above .300, but they have over 10 home runs each and have stolen over 12 bases. Alexander leads the team, as well as the Sun Belt Conference, with 27 swiped bags. Both Tigers and Chanticleers will throw their top pitchers in game one: Cameron Flukey for Coastal Carolina and Sam Dutton for Auburn. Both aces have seven wins on the year and own over 90 strikeouts. Flukey struck out nine batters in last Friday's Conway Regional opener against Fairfield over seven innings, where he allowed two runs on three hits. As for Dutton, he struck out three batters and allowed five runs on seven hits in Auburn's 8-5 win over Stetson in the winner's bracket game last Saturday. Game one between Auburn and Coastal Carolina begins at 8 p.m. CT and can be seen live on ESPN2. 'He's going to help take our team to the next level' Coach Earley speaks on new hiring Texas A&M baseball had a disappointing season. While they showed signs of brilliance, they ultimately lacked the swagger and consistency needed to make a postseason run. After failing to reach the SEC Tournament championship, A&M was left out of the NCAA Tournament. However, they decided to retain coach Michael Earley, with the understanding that changes would be made. The first move was bringing in former Aggie All-American and Dallas Baptist assistant coach Cliff Pennington. This is a great first step for the A&M baseball program as they look to return to Omaha next season. Pennington is regarded as one of the best assistant coaches in the nation and excels in areas where the Aggies need greater attention to detail, base running and fielding. Coach Earley is excited to have Pennington on his staff and spoke about what he brings to the program: "We are thrilled to welcome Coach Pennington and his beautiful family back to Bryan-College Station, I wanted to find the best infield and base running coach in the nation and after many talks with Cliff, it was evident he was the guy and a perfect fit into our culture. While this is an elite move, more changes are still needed before fans will feel optimistic about the team heading into the 2026 season. There are the young stars who are destined to shine, like Drake Maye and Christian Gonzalez, but every young team has some players who are just waiting for their chance to get some of the limelight as well. The Patriots have seen this all too many times, as evidenced by undrafted wide receiver Jakobi Meyers making the team in 2019 or Josh Uche's jump from three sacks to 11.5. Advertisement There are destined to be some sleepers, and Cameron Zunkel of ClutchPoints gave his top three for the Patriots this season. There is a lot of potential and young talent to choose from on this new era Patriots team, and the first name that was brought up is one of the Patriots' newest weapons. Third-round wide receiver Kyle Williams from Washington State was the first name listed. Williams was fourth in the nation in touchdowns with 14, but was overshadowed by big-name players like Travis Hunter and Tetairoa McMillan. Williams started his career at UNLV and then transferred to play his last two seasons at Washington State. In his senior season, he had 70 catches for 1,198 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is everything the Patriots offense lacks. He has speed, he can make big plays down the field, and he is great off the line of scrimmage. Stefon Diggs was the big-name free agent, and Patriots fans are excited to see how Demario Douglas progresses, but don't be surprised if Williams ends up top three in receiving yards for the Patriots this season. The next player listed was fourth-year cornerback Marcus Jones. Jones is a special Swiss army knife type of player who has made plays for the Patriots in all three phases of the ball. Jones has been an All-Pro returner, and he gets talked about for his versatility, but he has yet to receive the recognition he deserves at his true position, cornerback. He played in 14 games, nine of which he started, and recorded 58 tackles, one tackle for loss, 10 pass deflections, one interception, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. Advertisement He played great in his role, and it looks like he is going to get a bigger one this upcoming season. It seems that the starting nickel cornerback job may end up being his, and if it is, he is going to show that he is not only a great returner but a great cornerback. Lastly, linebacker Christian Elliss was named as a potential hidden gem. Elliss started as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2021 and played almost three seasons there before getting released and signed by the Patriots, where he has played 20 games. Elliss started in five of the 16 games he played, and he recorded 80 tackles, one tackle for loss, one and a half sacks, one interception, five pass deflections, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery. Elliss was another player that excelled and their role, and he is another player that could see an increase in snaps and starts. He is expected to be a starter this season, and with Jahlani Tavai already going down early in OTAs, his reps and opportunity should only increase. A lot of people are excited to see how players like Milton Williams and Will Campbell look in their new threads, but there will be a few new household names in Patriots fans' houses. There are a lot of unproven guys, but there is also a lot of potential, and new head coach Mike Vrabel is looking to squeeze out every bit he can get.
